Vitality and Right-Wing Literature

I was listening to a podcast by NY Times token “conservative” Russ Douthat talking to conservative publisher Jonathan Keeperman.

Keeperman is a publisher for a press called Passage Publishing.  He has a lot of avant-garde friends like Curtis Yarvin and possibly some of the Silicon Valley folks like Peter Thiel.  He and Douthat talked (a lot) about how the Right is becoming a sort of counter-culture in the way that the Left did back in the 1960s and beyond.

It’s kind of interesting to hear them discuss this shift in the culture in general but one of the more interesting things that Douthat said was that up until now the Right hasn’t produced any real literature on its side of the cultural divide.  Then Keeperman made some offbeat suggestions saying things like Cormac McCarthy’s

“No Country for Old Men” is from the right.  I think specifically he said that the Coen Brother’s movie based on it is from the Right.  Now never in any imagining have I ever equated the Coen Brothers or their movies with anything right-wing.  So, I find this very strange.  And honestly, all the people associated with Curtis Yarvin have always struck me as hipsters.  And I have always ranked hipsters as the most left-leaning of all the various weirdos to be found in New York City.  So, none of this makes a lot of sense.

But I guess if someone interested in literature who wasn’t a Leftist wanted to talk to the New York Times about literature, he would talk to Russ Douthat and try to find some middle ground where they could both make believe that Douthat wasn’t a total leftist.

I was interested to read that Keeperman has published illustrated editions of H P Lovecraft and Robert E Howard and that leads me to think that maybe he’s not a leftist.  The Left despises both of those old authors and would never publish their works under any circumstance.  So, I need to find out a lot more about Keeperman and his press.  It could be interesting.

But he said one interesting thing about the current state of right-wing literature.  He said that the problem with most of it is that it’s mostly just grievance based.  It exists to rail against and blame the leftist society we currently live in and therefore loses the chance to be “vital.”  Essentially, it’s existence is only as a protest against the status quo and therefore only has a negative presence.

And that interested me.  Because my book is in a real way, exactly that.  It is a war being fought against the status quo.  And so, I have to look at what I wrote and see if his criticism of this kind of story is a legitimate case against the value of the story I have written.  In order to do that I will have to look at what gives “vitality” and entertainment value to a story.

Of course, all things are relative and being objective, especially about something I myself wrote is fraught with peril.  Probably the only way to know for sure is to attempt to get it published and see what results.  But it has given me pause and I will think long and hard to see if I think there are any aspects of the story that lack “vitality.”  Whatever that is.  Boy when it rains it pours.

The Only Ones Who Can End the Woke Era Are Teenagers

The demographic that supports all of the agenda of the Left and actually believes all of the nonsense that it espouses is the millennials.  And I don’t think those people can be persuaded.  They believe in the narrative being sold by their teachers and professors and the authorities that run the social media sites that they spend so much time on.  But how about the next generation?  Who is to say that they can’t be awakened to what’s going on?  Sure, they’re also exposed to the same propaganda.  In fact the brain washing has been turned up by an order of magnitude in the last couple of years.  But why shouldn’t we try to present our message as a counter-program to what they’re learning.  Kids do enjoy rebelling against the cultural norms they’re fed.  What easier thing could there be than feeding into the normal behaviors that young people already have and show how this refutes the make-believe things that the Left is trying to teach them?

Everything from transgenderism to white privilege to defunding the police are very easy for even middle school kids to understand.  We’ll have to include the idea that this information is taboo in school and kids will have to discuss these things outside the hearing of their teachers but that will only make the message that much more enticing.  And we can take advantage of all the most ludicrous aspects of the woke religion to prove our case and all these things will appeal to the impressionable minds of young people.

As an example, if you wanted to explain to a girl why it would be unfair for “transgender” girls to compete against real girls all you would need is a video clip of what these “girls” look like and how they compare in speed and strength to real girls.  If you want to explain the danger of allowing children to decide about puberty blocking drugs, mastectomies and castration just find any of the articles written by people who went through these medical procedures and then realized it was a horrible mistake after it was too late.  If you want to convince a kid what it would mean if the police were defunded show them some video clips of what’s going on in the blue cities that are cowering down to the BLM mobs.  The riots and looting, the old ladies being assaulted by the black kids playing the knockout game.  It’ll be pretty easy.

But as I said, you’ll have to let the kids know that this is forbidden knowledge and they’ll have to keep quiet in the classroom if they don’t want to be cancelled.  But I guarantee it’ll still be fascinating to these young people.  Forbidden knowledge always is.  And since virtually none of this can exist on social media it will have to be delivered either on private websites or even face to face.  But you know what they say, “The truth shall set you free.”  And that’s what we need, more truth and more freedom.

The ZMan Has Written an Important Post

Everybody talks revolution but ZMan is talking about how you get the population to follow you there.  The 1-2 punch is to delegitimize the current regime to capture the moral high ground  then build your own counter culture to take advantage of the moral vacuum.  That sounds right.  My take is that because allows anti-white racism and openly allows a flood of illegal immigrants to disenfranchise the existing citizenry it is shown to be either imcompetent or traitorous and therefore illegitimate.  And I see the way that the Overton Window has been shifting, especially in the last year or so.  I think this is the way things will happen.  I highly recommend this post.
