23DEC2020 – OCF Update – Christmas Holiday Notes

Well, that last post ( The Deplorables Are Waiting for a Sign ) must have hit a nerve.  I think a whole lot of people are just as fed up.  And as I said I think they’re right.  Words aren’t going to change anything so what’s the use of a lot of talk.

So I think I’ll take a couple of days and enjoy some really splendiferous food out of Camera Girl’s kitchen and spend some time with the family and think a little bit before I pontificate.  In the absence of a successful action to send Creepy Uncle Joe back to the cracker factory I think that local actions will be the only things that do any good.

I may have some reviews and maybe some links if anything good shows up but I’ll spend the next couple of days enjoying life.  I hope you do too.

Merry Christmas

The Deplorables Are Waiting for a Sign

Today I had a Christmas get together with some good friends that I used to work with.  All of them are on my side of the aisle and in addition to talking about the old company and people we know in common we of course talked about the sorry state of things.  First off, we were in a small bar and grill.  That meant that we couldn’t move a couple of tables to sit together.  When I tried to, the waitress acted like I was trying to light the tablecloth on fire or something.  She worriedly explained that the health department would shut them down if we were caught messing with the floor plan.  But she whisked us away to a larger table that was isolated from the rest of the guests in a corner where we could spread COVID to our hearts’ content.  So much for a casual get together.

After we ordered our drinks, I heard all the complaints about the old firm and its latest idiocies in the face of the “pandemic.”  Then we talked about the COVID madness and the election.  And I was a little surprised.  They were much more fed up with the lockdown than even I am.  One of the guys says he was talking with some friends of his on the local police force and they told him that they’re reaching their limit of tolerance for what’s going on.  Many of the older and even some of the younger cops are disgusted with the damage that has been done to the owners of restaurants and the other small businesses effected by the shutdowns.  A lot of those business owners are friends and relatives of the cops.  Some of the cops are talking about the idea of a strike.  I asked him for details but he didn’t have any.  Maybe it’s just grousing but it’s interesting to know that cracks are beginning to appear in the state and municipal workforce even here in New England.

All of my friends were convinced that the COVID shutdowns weren’t going away anytime soon and that they were basically a way for the state to take control of our lives and make us grovel.  And they all know that vaccinations will be considered a condition for being allowed to keep their jobs at the old firm.

Then we talked about the election.  There was unanimity that the elections were blatantly stolen.  They were all pessimistic about the attempt to reverse the electoral college votes.  Some of the strongest anger was aimed at John Roberts and the part he played in the fraud.  And everyone agreed that William Barr was not trying to help get to the truth on any of the investigations he was supposedly working on.  Most felt he was just another swamp creature.  And everyone agreed that things were going to get much worse if Joe Biden gets into the White House, especially up here in New England.  They were already talking about sending their guns out of state to forestall the confiscations they were expecting.

But the most surprising reaction I heard was from one guy in particular.  He is one of the staunchest conservatives in the group and an avid consumer of the information on line.  He listens to everything that’s out there and he follows back links and does his own research into the facts instead of just reading the pundits and the cable channel stuff.

He said he’s done.  He’s not going to listen to anymore talk.  He’s shutting off the pundits and he’s not going to get involved in the issues and politics and he isn’t going to support anymore politicians.  He says he’s just going to enjoy his life and let the world go straight to hell.

I asked him what had been the last straw.  He said the election fraud was what did it.  From his way of looking at things, if the Left can steal an election blatantly and no one on the Right is doing anything more than running around in circles and wetting their pants then it’s all over.  I asked him if there was anything that could change his mind.  He said yeah, if the Right finally puts some of those hundreds of millions of guns out in the street and used them to make the Left walk back the election fraud.

I had no answer for that.  Because he’s kind of right.  We’ve been outmaneuvered by crooked bureaucrats and third-rate thugs and moronic political hacks.  No one has come forward to lead a popular revolt against this tin-pot junta that has weaponized the intelligence agencies and the social media platforms against us.  They have shown us that this isn’t a democracy.  It’s a banana republic and we’re the peasants who pick the bananas.

But I am hopeful that some brave and powerful individual will decide to make a stand somewhere out there in Red State America and begin pushing this thing back in the right direction.  My friend is waiting for that sign.  And the more I think about it I think we’re all waiting for a sign that there’s still some fight left on our side.

23DEC2020 – Quote of the Day

Men must be governed by those laws which they love. Where thirty millions are to be governed by a few thousand men, the government must be established by consent, and must be congenial to the feelings and to the habits of the people. That which creates tyranny is the imposition of a form of government contrary to the will of the governed: and even a free and equal plan of government, would be considered as despotic by those who desired to have their old laws and their ancient system.

The Dead Zone

Tonight, I was talking to a friend who lives in Manhattan.  He was so claustrophobic from the endless lockdown that he decided to go to a restaurant.  That means he was so sick of being trapped in his apartment that he was willing to eat outside at night in temperatures below the freezing point.  He then walked twenty-five blocks just so he could be outdoors and feel like there was some normalcy to his life.  But that illusion was quickly dispelled.  He told me that at one point there were twenty city busses in virtually a convoy headed up Madison Avenue, all empty.  They probably weren’t attempting to maintain this configuration but since nobody was attempting to ride on them and since there is virtually no traffic, they basically pile up at the slower traffic signals and form this absurd wagon train.

Think about it, Manhattan at Christmas time and the streets are deserted.  The stores on Fifth Avenue are not just empty but looted and boarded up and the ruinously expensive transit system is empty and running like some sort of ghost of itself through a modern-day necropolis.  Well at least something has finally come along to put an end to the “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” crowd interviews.  They’ll just set up a zoom meeting between Miley Cyrus, Mariah Carey, Yoko Ono and the ghost of Cindy Lauper’s hair stylist.

Any other year in the last hundred and fifty years and Manhattan during Christmas week would be standing room only in every store, restaurant, sidewalk, hospital, jail and stairwell.  Money equivalent to the gross national product of medium sized countries would be changing hands in the upscale boutiques, restaurants and jewelry stores and every little kid for fifty miles around would be trooping past the giant Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center on his way to seeing Santa Claus at Macy’s.

If you remember the H. G. Wells’ book or the movie adaption, “The Time Machine,” in the far future humans have devolved into two populations.  On the surface are beautiful but effete people called the Eloi.  They are completely passive and only survive because their food is provided by the other population, the underground dwelling, monstrously ugly but technically capable Morlocks.  We learn that the Morlocks are cannibals and they harvest a certain number of Eloi by summoning them into underground air raid shelters by means of an old-style air raid siren.  And the Eloi are so bovine that they never think to question that none of those going underground ever come back.

Honestly, is it really a stretch to say that we have become the Eloi?  Maybe not all of us and maybe not quite to the point where we are literally thrown in the soup pot but the difference is one of degree not kind.  Granted the worst of it is in the Blue States and Cities.  In these places the situation is worst.  They’ve sacrificed the livelihoods and future of the small business owners and the educations and mental health of all of their children to play games with the mortality statistics from a flu that only strikes the very old or the very ill.  And even in places where they followed all their absurd rules the same number of people died as in the places where restrictions weren’t enforced.  And at the same time the Morlocks have unleashed another plague on us.  They’ve empowered the Antifa/BLM monsters to cannibalize what’s left after the COVID harvesting is complete.  That is assuming COVID is ever really allowed to end.

It makes you wonder what it would take to wake these people up.  In the Time Machine movie what it took was an outsider who wasn’t conditioned to their passivity to show them how to fight back.  Today I’m not even sure that something like that would work.  There is no fight left in them.  They’ve become domestic animals, cattle.

photog’s Right-Wing Guide – Part 3 – Cultural Identity, Education and Community on the Right

Why is the Right, or let us say the traditionally oriented Americans always under siege?  Ostensibly because the culture and the education system have declared many of the practices and beliefs that we hold sacred to be morally wrong or even illegal.

Let us take an example.  If you work in a company and Dennis is your manager and one day Dennis’s boss calls everyone into a conference room and informs you that Dennis is now Denise and when “she” returns from surgery “she” will be wearing dresses and a wig and you should call “her” Denise and show your support “her” by joining the LGBTQ allies club and invite “her” to all of your family occasions you probably would be pretty unhappy, especially if Dennis with a wig is extremely creepy and hypersensitive to any issues either personal or work related.  About the only thing you can do to avoid this nightmare is look for another job.

And this is not a made-up example.  I have experienced this one myself.  Although this is a pretty egregious example, there are a hundred other problems large and small that now make life in the progressive world miserable.  What they have done is to preclude people like us from living life the way we want to.

And what are our choices?

  • We can fight a civil war and impose our values on our opponents.
  • We can fight a civil war and divide the country into an area for ourselves and an area for our opponents.
  • We can just give up and be slaves.
  • We can get together in the areas that we control and create our own organization that give us the space to live the way we want.

Choice number four is the one that I want to talk about here.  It’s probably impossible to attempt to organize a community within any of the blue states.  They would go out of their way to persecute anyone they found trying to avoid their traps.

In a Red State you will be allowed to at least organize a community your own way.  That is the critical precursor.  But it’s just the beginning.  Because our opponents follow us into the areas we control the only way to avoid the endless aggravation, we are going to need a system that allows us to separate ourselves from them.  People are always talking about building our own Facebook and Google but what we really need is our own schools and churches and businesses.  As an idea of how something like this can work think of the Amish.  Obviously, they are an extreme example.  They are completely a people apart.  And they live by rules like no one else does.  But no one can propagandize their children or tell them how to worship their God and no one can tell them how to live because they form a self-sufficient community that doesn’t need anything and doesn’t want anything from the outside community.

But we don’t have to go that far.  We need our own churches and we need our own schools.  Those organizations will allow us to socialize and form a community because those organizations will be allowed the freedom to define a community.  And within that community can grow up the small businesses that are needed in communities.  Small stores and tradesmen and car dealerships and banks and whatever other local businesses that people can think to open.  Outsiders may move into a town where a community exists but they won’t send their kids to your school and they won’t go to your church because they don’t believe what you do.  A tight knit community has the environment you need to support children growing up and provides a pool of young men and women who will form the next generation of new families.

Can we do it without a church and a school of our own?  I would say no.  And not just because it will give us the constitutional protection it affords.  It’s the other way around.  A church and a school will foster a sense of identity.  And only that identity will allow us to survive the nihilistic deconstruction of our culture that is the true mission of the progressives.

In my next installment I’ll speculate on what the content of this new identity might be.
