Now that the Tories have used their time in power to prove themselves clowns and enemies of freedom Nigel Farage has decided to give the normal people of England a better choice than the almost equally awful Labor Party. He’ll be running as a candidate of the Reform UK party. Farage is the father of the Brexit movement and a businessman. And he wants to replace the Tories with something better.
It will take a while for the Reform party to gather up the disgusted former Tory voters so Labor will be in charge for the foreseeable future. But just as with the RINOs in America you can’t make any progress until you eliminate the wolves in sheep’s clothing. Kudos to Farage for beginning the long project that needs to happen.
Fear, uncertainty, disinformation. These things seem to almost define the government’s policies toward us. Most prominent in recent years was the COVID campaign. The use of fear and disinformation to force behavior in a population was on a previously unheard-of scale. Most vivid was Biden’s heinous prediction that the unvaccinated would suffer a winter of severe illness and death. Lying to their fellow citizens has now reached the ultimate stage where nothing resembling the truth is used. Basically, we have stepped over the line and adopted the Stalinist practices described by George Orwell in his novel “1984.” The truth has disappeared completely from the government’s communications with us.
Knowing this to be the case, it behooves each of us to become “Washington-ologists,” sort of like the Kremlinologists that the Defense Department employed to figure out Soviet nuclear strategy. We have to parse the lies being broadcast by the government and translate them into the underlying activities that Washington is attempting to inflict upon us.
For instance, Joe Biden and his allies in the Blue States have been declaring the end of the gasoline fueled automobile. They’ve done everything they can do to make it seem as if within five years you won’t be able to buy or use anything but a battery car. And this produces, fear, uncertainty and doubt in the minds of the average person. They think, “Can this be true? Will I be forced to lose my investment in my automobile if I don’t unload it now and buy a battery car?” And some people actually go ahead and buy a battery car and find out about the problems of buying into this unsatisfactory technology and the current lack of infrastructure to use it.
But once they’ve wasted the money they’re trapped into this choice and so Biden’s scare tactic succeeds. Meanwhile based on how little has actually been done to provide power for these battery cars, there really isn’t any hope of this technology becoming dominant for the foreseeable future. But using fear and intimidation it pushes forward the outcome that the Left desires.
I think that a wise strategy to implement when dealing with pronouncements from Washington is to assume that anything they try to scare you with is a lie and anything they tell you is for your own good is meant to hurt you. If you use that algorithm, you probably won’t be too far from the truth. Now the tricky part comes when you try to avoid doing what they want to force on you. As you can see from the COVID vaccine example they’ll go pretty far to coerce behavior. And the closer your life is enmeshed with the federal government (federal employee, contractor) the harder it will be to say no. That right there shows you why staying out of their orbit might be the smartest thing you can do. But even independent people have entanglements with the feds. The IRS and government mandates applying to private corporations like the FDA and other regulatory agencies can make it difficult to just ignore the dictates of Washington.
But at least if you approach the disinformation coming out of Washington from a skeptical stance you increase your chances of avoiding harm. Of course, your friends and family will claim you’re a conspiracy theorist but as we’ve seen many of those theories have turned out to be true. So let the citizen beware.
But watching the recent Congressional hearings on the COVID debacle where Fauci claims that he never caused any problems or misled us about anything is comedic gold. Listening to his side of it he’s never even heard of COVID!”
It’s fair to say that divisions are sharpening between several political groups in this country. The first group represents the point of view of the cultural elites. Now this group has any number of names. Some people call them the managerial class because they fill the ranks of the upper echelons of corporate America. They run the private corporations and public institutions. They were educated at elite schools and colleges. They believe that they are the natural leaders of this country and they have a very low opinion of the rest of society. And they think the constitutional order is an encumbrance to allowing them to remake society according to their plans. This group has the most power and they have become adept at using “divide and conquer” techniques to prevent anyone from wresting power from their hands. They wholly control both the Democrat and Republican parties and use these puppets to confound anyone attempting to change the status quo.
Another group are those who have seen through the elites’ puppet show and are now completely disillusioned with all aspects of the government. They are waiting for the revolution.
A third group are those who describe themselves as civic nationalists. Many of them are aware of the puppet show but have hope to see the elites’ grip on power ended.
And then there are those who are client groups of the elites. Large majorities of African Americans, Asian Americans, Latinos and LGBTQ individuals follow the elites’ lead on almost every question or issue because they are given special consideration by the elites to maintain their hold on the system.
The question I have is whether the political polarization will lead to cultural and identity shifts in these people. Up until a decade ago, more or less, almost everyone in this country considered themselves Americans first and foremost. I don’t think that is any longer true. Barack Obama made it a very large part of his agenda to stir up animosity against white people within the black population. And that has borne bitter fruit. And this has been reflected in the elites as an anti-white ideology that we now call woke culture. And this woke ideology in turn has sparked in the disillusioned group I described above an antipathy against American identity as a flag-waving trap. They have rejected the idea that Americans of different races or even different ethnic backgrounds constitute a cohesive nation.
So, on the Far Left you have a rejection of the history and people who were the basis of the country and on the Far Right you have a denial that disparate groups represent a people. And then you have everyone else in the middle trying to figure where all this leaves them.
Now finding myself in that middle I wonder whether the two outside groups will get their wish and tear this country apart. And will it be torn in two pieces or three? I feel somehow that the middle by itself could make a country that would be closest to the idea of what America was a hundred years ago or so.
I think the middle would be happy going back to what we had back then. We could all celebrate the 4th of July and Thanksgiving together and leave it at that. We could still pledge allegiance to the stars and stripes. Although if the outside groups decide to peel off a few states for their areas we’d have to renumber the stars somewhat. We’d speak English and teach our kids about Christopher Columbus, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. But maybe we could skip Bill Clinton, Barack Obama and Joe Biden. And we could go back to getting along as best we can amongst each other without reparations or affirmative action or pretending that perfect equality and perfect racial harmony are things you find in the real world. We could make that work pretty well.
But what I wonder about is what would the other two groups look like in fifty years. I get the idea that the elite state would have some serious problems. I look at California and New York and I see real dysfunction. And I can’t figure out what their culture would be like. Without the people in the middle to demonize I’m not sure how the elites would be able to confuse their client groups into not attacking them personally. After all, they are the richest and whitest people of all and they are responsible, according to their logic for all the grievances that the other groups have. It’s going to be pretty hard to change that opinion.
So, I see the elite state as like California only worse. I think it’ll either rethink all the woke nonsense or it’ll collapse. But either way it’ll be a sight to behold and a cautionary tale.
Now as for the disillusioned, I’m trying to imagine what their country would be like. First off, it’ll be very white. That’s a given. I’m guessing it’ll be well-organized and won’t have a very good basketball league. And it will have a very efficient border patrol but maybe not the best restaurants. Just kidding!
Will it have a 4th of July celebration and Thanksgiving? Maybe. Will it be a republic, a monarchy, an oligarchy? I wonder if they know? From what I’ve gleaned they’re not so hot on democratic forms of government. Maybe someone from that side could give us a thumbnail sketch of their idea of a good government. Of course I’m not being fair. Humans have failed at maintaining a prosperous stable form of government at all times and places on this planet. Why should the disillusioned be held to a higher standard?
But if I had a choice of which group I’d live with it would be the middle. Without the elites provoking the client groups I think that we could have a very decent country. I happen to believe that there are differences in intelligence and temperament amongst groups of people. But the business of society is making up rules that can be applied across the great swath of human variation in a way that most people could agree was fair. After all, even within an almost homogeneous group like a neighborhood of people who all came from the same village in the old country you will have some very smart individuals and then you’ll have the village idiot. But the hope is that even the idiot can find a job where he contributes, maybe he’s the street sweeper or he walks dogs.
This idea that everyone has to be within one standard deviation in intelligence doesn’t seem necessary. So, I’m willing to live in a heterogeneous society as long as I’m allowed the freedoms that the constitution provides and the people running the show are honest and competent.
I wouldn’t want to be in Neo-California. That place will be a nightmare and the rules are unfair and crazy.
And I couldn’t live in Asgaard. I’m not nearly white enough nor hard-working enough. Way too much Italic influence.
So put me with the mutts. If we can manage to maintain the system that the English put together for us two hundred and forty years ago, we could have a little slice of heaven on Earth. Or maybe I’m totally wrong. What do you think?
A few weeks ago I was introduced to the term “no mow May.” Apparently by not mowing the lawn in May there is a theory that we allow all of the pollinating insects to do their thing and Gaia will be happier and not allow volcanoes and asteroids to kill us all.
Now everyone on this site knows of my undying allegiance to the Green Revolution. I’ve had the “global warming hockey stick graph tattooed on my eyeballs so that I’m constantly thinking about how much danger the planet is in. So of course, I sacrificed all other considerations and refrained from mowing the lawn.
Well, lawn would be a misnomer. My neighbors despise me for the sheer tonnage of dandelions in my fields. They accuse me of robbing them of the perfect lawns they lust for. I am, in a word, a heretic against the religion of lawn care. But be that as it may I held out all May. And as they drove by my property and the grass and weeds got taller and taller I could feel their hate growing and the dark side of the force becoming stronger and stronger. But I would walk about unconcerned, at play in the fields of the Lord, luxuriating in the waist high sea of grass and weeds, taking macro shots of bugs and the grass itself and whatever else struck my fancy in my fantasy of a post-Leftist Earth.
But yesterday was May 31st and Camera Girl confronted me and reminded me of that fact. And she had that wifely look on that I could tell meant that she would brook no nonsense. And noticing it I said, “Oh, June already, how time flies! Well, thank goodness it’s stopped raining. I’ve been worried I’d never be able to get out there!”
So yesterday I hooked up the ride-on mower to a battery charger and got out my new ear protection and safety glasses and gloves and gathered up the various debris that was scattered all over the property and checked under the exceptionally long grass around places where there could be rabbits, foxes and other varmints hiding and collected all the large rocks, tennis balls and dog toys that Camera Girl hurls around the yard for the canine crew.
And this morning bright and early at 11 am I went outside and began the ordeal. Yikes! No mow May is a tricky calculation. Sure, it bought me a couple of weeks of sloth but what a wreck. I ended up recutting about a third of it and the cleanup was considerable.
Remarkably, Camera Girl was so impressed by the improvement that she seemed to forget that I was the cause of it looking so awful in the first place and I was treated as the conquering hero. At late snack there was a slice of some kind of pastry, sort of like a Danish but less doughy, that I didn’t even know was in the house. It was served with a mug of coffee just the way I like it and all was sweetness and light. Women are extremely unpredictable creatures. They get stirred up about things that we don’t even notice. And we almost never know whether it will be in our favor or not. But as has been observed by greater minds than mine, they are the only source for producing more human beings that we have so far discovered. So, there we are.
There’s a lot to be said for cutting the grass. A man can lose himself for a few hours and he can find his mind wandering in and around a lot of problems that are somewhere in the back of his mind. Alternatively, he can also sometimes forget his problems for a little while. Today was one of those day. I turned off the 2024 election and all the rest of the madness for a few hours and damned if I don’t feel a lot better.
Let’s face it. I preach to the choir. Nobody who voted for Hillary Clinton or Joe Biden reads my words. If there is such a person please step forward. We need to get a photo and a blood sample for National Geographic’s Bigfoot and Loch Ness Monster edition.
So, nothing I say is a shock for anyone reading this site. Mainly I write down my thoughts to help me clarify them. Living as an adult American over the last half century has been a revelation. Almost all the things I thought I knew about the federal government turned out to be self-serving lies that were systematically spread and maintained by the public and private organs of the government to misinform Americans.
In fairness to the Devil only my own monumental stupidity and colossal intellectual sloth could have allowed me to be so blind to reality. Imagine believing that George W Bush was on my side. I should have the letter “L” branded into my forehead to remind me every day while I shave that stupid is my favorite flavor.
All that being said. We have reached a new place. We have the litmus test for our country. And it’s not a measure of how many people are on each side of the political divide. With the state of our election process no one can say anymore who really has more voters. Fraud is just too much a part of the system at this point. The test is more basic.
What we will find out is whether there is any limit on the ability of the Left to stay in power in Washington. If Biden “wins” that election the answer is no. There is no limit on the Left’s power. My reasoning is this:
We live in a time when every indicator of dissatisfaction with the current administration is blinking red. The economy, crime, drugs, mental health, illegal immigration, homelessness, cost of living, education, race relations, you name it. Everything is out of control. Never in the last hundred years has an administration with this kind of track record gotten reelected. It wouldn’t even be close. The most recent example would be Jimmy Carter. With only half as many problems, Carter was blasted out of the water by Reagan in a landslide.
If despite all this Joe Biden is reelected then we can say without any hesitation that elections have ceased to be a reflection of the will of the American people.
So, yesterday’s “court verdict” was just the cherry on top of the sundae. It was just the spit in the eye after the sucker punch that we’re supposed to react to. We’re all going to march down to the town hall or the middle school and “vote harder” for Donald Trump.
And if after the smoke clears and a million absentee ballots get photocopied, Joe Biden wins in a landslide then everybody and I mean everybody will put down his number two pencil or his magic marker and stop showing up to vote. Because it will be too humiliating to consider.
Even that rarest of objects, the American voter even stupider than me, will finally say, “Oh, it really is fake.” And he will stop showing up at the polls.
And then we’ll have to figure out where we go from there.
The United States of America is not the Roman Empire. I repeat, it is not the Roman Empire. Regardless of iconography, colonnades in front of classically designed buildings and a Latin phrase or two on our currency this is a different empire. Of course, that doesn’t mean that parallels can’t be drawn. I’m sure if I consulted Gibbons, I could find several emperors that were old, depraved, demented and soiled themselves in public like our current commander in chief.
And one of those parallels is that in a declining empire, the uniformity of institutions and way of life begins to break down. Famously, the Eastern Roman Empire managed to avoid the downfall that overwhelmed the West in the 5th century A.D. There were various reasons for these differences in fate. The eastern provinces were for the most part shielded by distance from the full brunt of the Germanic incursions. The climate itself might have been somewhat responsible. German tribesmen probably would have found the weather in Egypt and Judea a trifle warm and dry for cattle herding.
So, it should be expected that the intentional destruction of the American nation by its mad rulers will have a disparate effect on different regions and states. For instance, California has embraced the self-destructive agenda of the Left with great gusto. Look at how they’ve dismantled their electrical generation infrastructure and the water reservoir system that they depend on for agriculture and human consumption. They have willingly dismantled their criminal justice system and sanctioned dysfunctional lifestyles like drug addiction and homelessness. With such an incredible head start few other areas of the country will be able to disappear into neolithic conditions as quickly as California. Eventually a large part of the state will return to a pre-human state with Western Diamondback Rattlesnakes becoming the dominant lifeform.
But other areas, maybe the Midwest or the South may endeavor to hold onto the forms and trappings of the past. Just as the Byzantines long maintained Latin as the court language and calling themselves Romans in Constantinople long after their “empire” was just the Hellenized provinces of Asia Minor and Greece, so too these areas may maintain the polite fiction that America still exists long after many of the regions begin to diverge into their new cultures and ways of governing.
For someone looking ahead to what their family will be faced with in the next decade or two, there is real importance in either figuring out ahead of time which areas will provide the best places to live or alternatively, adopting a way of life that will allow you to “jump” successfully when the time comes to make that move.
Personally, I think making a choice of where to live is probably the best way. Not that I have a foolproof method for picking the winner. But I think I have a pretty good idea where the losing areas will be. As stated above, California looks like ground zero for catastrophe. Similarly, I think the east coast is also a bad bet. Perhaps looking for places where population density is low and where natural resources like plentiful water, forest cover and a decent climate might be a winning strategy. As far as population density, I wouldn’t count out a whole state just because there happened to be a large city in that state. As long as the distance to where you planned to live was several hundred miles away it might make perfect sense. After all, state boundaries won’t mean much in the future. Geographic boundaries like rivers and mountains will. Western New York has very little to do with New York City. Northern Nevada and Las Vegas are a world apart.
Who knows! Possibly an unexpected victory by patriots will completely reverse the current decline and fall of the American Empire. And then places like New York City and Philadelphia will once again become great centers of culture and commerce instead of squalid dung heaps filled with murderous savages. But in the meantime, consider choosing where you want your family to build their lives. Choose carefully.
That’s that.
Update – Well, I’ve had an hour or two to think about this. I guess it should be intersting to see how the country reacts to this kangaroo court decision. I know how anyone on the Right feels. But it should be interesting to see if anyone reveals himself as a RINO. If any of the primary candidates tries to use this conviction to get back in the spotlight that should be a wonderful disqualification from ever getting Republican votes again.
If nothing else, this should boost Trump’s fundraising asymptotically. Listening to that fat piece of crap Alvin Bragg talking was nauseating. Hopefully he and the judge are both sucked down into the lowest levels of Hell by Satan as soon as he gets the chance. I’m sure he wouldn’t want to let their talents go to waste. That kind of human filth needs to be recognized.
Well, what shall I write tonight? Nothing too down tonight. There’s plenty to cry about but let’s raise our spirits instead. You know I talk about how a leader is what we are missing. But maybe a Caesar is not what we need. Maybe we need a Preacher. The churches have mostly rotted away and it shows. People are empty and bitter and alone.
A man of the spirit might be exactly what this country; even this world needs. Someone who could speak to us about how to fill up the void with meaning. Give people hope. I don’t think it will be someone who talks only about the hereafter. It will need to be someone who has practical advice for this world. And he can’t be a televangelist, at least not at first and never only. This will have to be a hands-on man who builds his flock around him and builds some kind of community that helps people in the here and now.
What’s needed is a church that harnesses the people to help each other and builds something where everyone gets a sense of belonging to something worthwhile and true. I think someone who could make that happen would rebuild this country. It would have a place for all the parts of the community. There will be things for the young, the mature and the old to do. The young will learn, the old will teach and the grown-ups will support it with their time and money. Eventually there will need to be a school to teach children the lessons they can’t learn in the public school. Ideally, one day there should be a university too. There should be youth organizations and sports teams. There should be fraternal and sorority organizations for the kids and grown-ups. Something will be needed to replace things like the Boy Scouts. And the adults need their clubs too. And the church should have charitable functions. But these need to require that those who have been helped pay it forward by contributing their efforts to the community.
And what creed will this be? Well, it will be Christianity but it will be non-denominational. It won’t require that you have a required doctrine on the Trinity or the Immaculate Conception or Limbo. If Jesus runs the Heaven you are trying to get in then you fit under this tent.
Well, that’s what I think we need. People need to belong to something that provides a way to organize with their neighbors in a way that gives them a sense of community and fulfills their desire to belong to something constructive and adheres to what they believe is the good.
But how do you order up a holy man? They only show up once every five hundred years. The last one was Martin Luther (which was about five hundred years ago!). They say that God provides what is needed. Well, I think we are beyond need. We’re desperate.
So, whether he calls himself Brother or Father, Padre or Reverend; it’s exactly the right time for a revival. In fact, it may be the only thing that can save us.
Everybody talks about the polarization between the Left and the Right in this country. I don’t think it’s overstated. The Trump hush money trial in Manhattan is the perfect litmus test for this polarization. If you can believe that he is getting a fair trial then you are living in a separate reality. The degree to which the judge has put his thumb on the scales of justice is pretty breathtaking. He has managed to instruct the jury that beyond a reasonable doubt is no longer the criterion for conviction. In fact, he is allowing the jurors to decide what exactly the underlying crime is without recourse to any particular part of the penal code.
But I guess I’m curious what percentage of the population in this country is okay with this. Because even if it’s as low as forty five percent then that’s a really big problem. The Left is about a third of the populace. If there is another twelve percent of the people who are completely on board with a court railroading a presidential candidate just because they don’t like the way he parts his hair then we’re already past the point where things can be fixed. There has to be two thirds or at least three fifths of the people who are relatively sane to protect us all from the crazies. We can’t expect to just squeak past every one of the forks in the road where the insane are pushing us to ride off a cliff. It can’t always be 51-49. One of these days we will go over the edge.
Many years ago, I served on a jury where the prosecution was trying to railroad a guy on a charge of making a death threat against his ex-wife. After the trial the judge shared with us that there was an underlying custody battle going on and this charge was a part of that struggle. But the only person who supposedly had heard the threat was the couple’s two-year-old daughter. Her mother claimed that the girl had told her of the threat that her father had made in front of her during a visit with him. But every time they tried to put the two-year-old on the witness stand she burst into tears and then we were sequestered while the prosecution attempted to bolster the little girl for the next attempt at questioning. After the third attempt the judge put an end to this charade and we were sent into the jury room to deliberate. Well, I’ll tell you it was 11-1 and I don’t suppose you have to wonder who was one. Eventually they tried to talk me into splitting the decision by voting guilty to one of the lesser charges. You know, split the difference. So, I asked them what part of beyond a reasonable doubt didn’t apply to any of the charges.
Now that day I had gone into the courtroom determined to hang’em high. No namby-pamby bleeding-heart nonsense for me. The guilty must pay. And this guy didn’t look like me or lived his life as I did. But suddenly all these other people who looked and lived like me were exposing their real feelings about unbiased justice. They were just picking the side they liked. To hell with the facts or the lack of facts. They were willing to send this man to prison for five years without proof. It was monstrous.
Three hours later they called it a hung jury and the judge talked to us and admitted that using a two-year-old as a witness was ludicrous and a little cruel. But my fellow jurors were very angry with me. They wanted to send a message regardless of the facts; “believe the woman.” Going home that night I had a sickening feeling about what justice in this country had become. Imagine your fate is decided not by the evidence but by what you look like. That was a chilling discovery.
Now I know it’s a forlorn hope, but I admit I’d love to see an 11-1 hung jury. That would send a powerful message that there are still a few honest men left. And we really do need that message. Because otherwise there isn’t any way that we can go forward together. If the truth is just an inconvenience that we have to shrug off to get what we want then we’re doomed.
Update – 30MAY2024 – Yep, we’re doomed.
