Flash Mob Loots Nordstrom – LA Mayor Says Mean Things

This is hilarious.  Woke mayor of LA is really, really mad.  And she’s gonna tell the police to do something about this.  Boy, that’ll scare the criminals!

If This Goes On … Then What? – Part 1

A plethora of disturbing phenomena envelop our world.  You know the list of problems.  Cultural, economic, psychological, medical, legal, military, academic, artistic, esthetic issues, even the definition of what a man or a woman is have become areas of societal turmoil.

And these are not just ideological conflicts.  We have almost every major city descending into mayhem and rampant theft.  The stability of our largest corporations is threatened by turmoil in the banking industry caused by enormous shifts in interest rates.  Intentional government targeting of hydrocarbon fuels has caused the price of fuel to increase substantially and with it the price of almost all commodities has also increased drastically.  And going along with these economic upheavals the personal finances of ordinary Americans have been severely negatively impacted.

And yet nothing happens.  At any other time in our history a mid-term election during such a crisis would have severely punished the incumbent president’s party.  Both houses of Congress would have flipped and a mandate would exist to fix these problems.  But the House barely went to the Republicans and the Senate stayed with the Democrats.  I won’t address the why of this anomaly.  Whether it’s hatred of Trump or changing demographics or voter fraud, the reality is the Democrats are running things in Washington.

The question I’m asking is, how does this end?

Of course, I don’t know the answer.  But I can look at the trends and extrapolate.

As an example, let’s look at the urban crime problem.  What are the possibilities?

The worst-case scenario is that nothing changes and crime is allowed to increase along the current lines.  At some point it will reach a threshold where the majority of working- and middle-class citizens are forced to flee out of fear for their lives.  That is the Detroit scenario.  But imagine this is all of the big cities in the United States.  It is almost unimaginable.  And yet I consider it one of the actual outcomes.  This scenario would lead to great changes in the social fabric of this country.  The urban/rural polarization would mimic the Left/Right divide in the populace.  And witnessing such an outcome would harden the opinions of both sides as to the blame for such a catastrophe.

The middle case is a slight moderation of the crime problem.  This entails a partial restoration of law and order.  But not back to the heyday of effective policing that held sway in the 2000’s and 2010’s.  Instead, it would be similar to the criminality that existed during the mid-1990’s.  This is imaginable because we’ve already seen it.  It’s possible that this outcome could be a stable situation with cities able to attract enough immigrants willing to brave the hazards of urban life to keep the whole show going.

And finally, the best-case scenario has the Democratic voters caving in to fear of crime and voting in a Republican “law and order” administration.  This would mimic what progressive New York City did in the late 1990s by electing Republican Rudy Giuliani as mayor on a platform of restoring law and order to that crime-ridden metropolis.

My guess is the second scenario.  I can see Democrats learning to live in fear as long as they can consider themselves good people for rejecting the law and order of the evil racist Republicans.

But which scenario do you think will prevail?

This Says it All for NYC and the Other Dem Cities

The people (and especially the women) of New York City have voted themselves into a suicide pact.

Chicago Can Elect a Tough on Crime Mayor or They Can Have Chaos

John Kass’s news site is where I go if I want to know what’s left of Chicago.  He has other folks writing on his site now and someone named Steve Huntley gave an update on the mayoral election going on.  So the cretinous incumbent Lori Lightfoot is currently ranked fourth in a field of eight.  And because of various nefarious associations, the usual mobbed up candidates are not the leading candidate.  It so happens that an actual law and order type,  Paul Vallas is in the lead and believed to be headed into the runoff.  Bestill my beating heart!  So, if Vallas becomes mayor and hires a bunch of cops and allows the cops to arrest people for crimes what happens when odious state’s attorney Kim Foxx just refuses to prosecute them?  Well, they’re right back on the street killing, assaulting and robbing the general public I guess.

I’m not very hopeful that the cities have learned their lesson  it probably will take quite a bit longer for folks in the blue states to take the plunge and demand a return to civilization.  We’ll probably have to wait until cannibalism breaks out in a big way.

To be continued.

The Gloves Are Off In The Chicago Mayor’s Race

Obama’s War Against the Cops Becomes More Deadly

My good friend Mike Simonelli has an interesting article in today’s New York Post about the epidemic of murdered cops across the country.  He explains how many of them could have been avoided.

One of the biggest problems is the sheer number of the mentally ill on the streets.  The other major problem are the Soros funded District Attorneys that refuse to enforce repeat offender statutes that would take career criminals off the streets for long stretches .Here’s one example:

“That includes one who on Dec. 29 ambushed Riverside County, Calif., Deputy Sheriff Isaiah Cordero, fatally shooting him during a traffic stop. The killer had a long history of violence dating back to the 1990s that included kidnapping, robbery and assaults with deadly weapons. Having received his third strike in 2021, Deputy Cordero’s killer should have been locked up and serving 25 years to life.

“We would not be here today if the judge had done her job,” fumed County Sheriff Chad Bianco. Months earlier, Officer Santana’s mother voiced a similar refrain: “I blame the death of my son and his partner on [Los Angeles District Attorney George] Gascón”; they were “murdered by a criminal [who] should have been in jail.”

Mike’s a cop and he understands the specific risks that the present situation has created for police.  But at this point anyone living in the large cities with Democrat governments is taking his life into his own hands living there.  After all, if these lunatics will shoot it out with the police what chance does an ordinary citizen stand?  Getting out is the only way to reduce the risk of violent assault to a reasonable level.

Update:

I was pleased to see former NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton link this article on his twitter feed.  I can only imagine what someone like him who knows how things should be done feels about the NYC Criminal Justice travesty we have now..

Law and Order Rejected in 2022

One of the biggest stories coming out of the 2022 midterms is the rejection of law-and-order candidates by most of the states undergoing violent crime waves in their urban and suburban areas.  Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Minnesota and other cities had law and order candidates for city and state offices like mayor, attorney general and district attorney in the mid-terms.  And for the most part, these races went to the democrat candidates in a landslide.

I think this is highly significant.  This tells me that the political narrative is intact in these areas.  The white voters in these places are still part of the coalition.  No matter what qualms they have over the crime that now surrounds them every day they support the removal of police protection from their communities.

I don’t claim to know the actual breakdown by race and sex for these votes.  But I did see that the margins weren’t tight.  In some places like Minnesota, they were blowouts.

Good.  Democracy needs to triumph.  The people must get what they ask for.  I look forward to stories that chronicle the devolution of these areas.  And we are already hearing about the violent assaults, rapes and murders happening in places like New York and Los Angeles on a daily basis.  The people need to absorb the reality that they have chosen.

Of course, it won’t be complete until it reaches out from the inner city and engulfs the affluent and vulnerable suburbs and even rural enclaves where the ideological supporters of “defund the police” inhabit.  Already in the richest Los Angeles and Chicago suburbs theft and violent crime is becoming a daily reality.

Well, that sounds like good news to me.  When the victims of home invasion and various assaults call the police, they will have the comfort of knowing that the mostly black perpetrators won’t be the victims of overzealous police activities.  In fact, they won’t be pursued at all.  The officers will dutifully take down the victims’ information and upload it into the database for the sake of completeness and then head off to the next crime scene.

I often kid about cannibalism breaking out in New York City or St. Louis.  Well, with the price of food heading steeply higher maybe that’s not such a far-fetched idea.  But the main takeaway is that this experiment that began with Obama and his Justice Department sabotaging the policing of black criminality is widely supported by the Democrat constituencies in the states they control.

This will be allowed to play out.  And I think it will be a defining factor for the American environment in the months and years ahead.  Pretty quickly the bigger cities will take on the appearance and characteristics of third world hellholes like Mexico City and Rio de Janeiro.  Private security for the affluent will become the rule and the middle class will flee as far as they possibly can from the specter of violent crime that will become all pervasive.

This may sound hyperbolic.  It’s not.  I remember when crime exploded in New York City in the 1970s and 1980s.  People who had children fled.  The prospect of their children being brutally assaulted by violent criminals on the way to or even in the schools was a reality.  Old women were easy prey on the streets at all hours.

I saw these conditions force one of the most liberal cities of the time into the hands of a law-and-order mayor like Rudy Giuliani.  Will that happen again?  The answer we got this month is no.  Maybe this truly was the reaction to the Supreme Court decision on abortion.  Many on the Left have declared that this was white women choosing abortion rights over law and order.  Ironically it could be reasoned that they’re thinking, “Well if we’re going to be rape victims, at least we’ll have well-funded Planned Parenthood centers nearby for the associated abortion procedure to follow.  I guess there’s a certain logic to that.

From my point of view, I think this should cement for a lot of people the understanding that some parts of the country are going down a path that normal people do not want to live under.  Look at the conditions on the street in San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York.  Tent cities of homeless living in front of swank apartment buildings and corporate offices.  Open air drug bazaars in the parks and streets.  Rampant and uncontested theft and assault.  This is the present.  The future will be worse.

Get out while you can.

The Reality of Crime is Racist, According to the Left

I read this long emotionally fraught article about Republicans using election advertising on crime as a dishonest but very effective tactic against Democrats in the mid-term elections.  So, it went into all of the reasons why voters are swayed by this type of ad.  They mentioned how crime is a visceral subject that elicits fear.  And fear is very powerful.  They admitted that all the large cities actually are experiencing enormous upticks in all crime since 2020.  They even admit that the Democrat candidates are easily linked to things like cashless bail and policies advocating releasing convicted criminals for even offenses like murder.  But finally at the end of the article it fell back on the old refrain that using crime as an election issue is RACIST!  They even went all the way back to 1988 and dug up the Willie Horton ads that Bush Senior used against Massachusetts Governor Michael Dukakis during the presidential election.  And they lament how racist that was.  After all Willie Horton was black.  He was also a murderer who was furloughed on his own recognizance from prison by Dukakis’s program only to flee and then commit rape and other crimes.  But mentioning such crimes is by the Left’s definition racist.

Well, I guess if they claim that black voters are racists because they want to reduce crime then maybe that is a defensible position.  After all New York City voters elected Mayor Eric Adams, a black former police officer, who ran as the law-and-order candidate, because they were alarmed by the skyrocketing violent crime wave that had engulfed the city during and after the George Floyd riots.  Were the majority non-white residents secret white supremacists?  Is Eric Adams a white supremacist because he embraces the dog whistle term “law and order?”  It seems difficult to imagine.

I think what the article was trying to say is that calling it racist is the only hope the Democrats have of defeating the tactic of using crime as a weapon against them.  If they can frighten the Republicans away from using crime then they will deprive them of a very potent weapon.

Back in June the media tried to use gaslighting by claiming that all their research showed that the potent issues in the 2022 elections would be abortion and threats to democracy.  Basically they were telling the Republicans that those were the only acceptable election topics they could use.  Finally, a few months ago they admitted that inflation would be the biggest negative for them but they still contended that crime was a very minor issue.

Well, here we are a week out from election and they’ve finally faced the facts.  Crime is the second biggest issue.  And in some areas, like the suburbs around the most dangerous cities it might be the biggest.  And in a roundabout way this article sort of admits that there’s no way to deflect these attacks because basically they’re true.  And with nothing they can do about those facts all they can do is claim that pointing out those facts is racist.

Very well, reality is racist.  But reality has a habit of rearing its racist head when people who depend on make believe can least afford it to.  If you have district attorneys releasing hardened criminals in cities like New York, Chicago and Philadelphia and those criminals then commit murders and assaults, it’s not surprising if voters decide to punish your party.

When even cobalt blue New York state might elect a Republican governor then we know that something has gone profoundly wrong.  Democrats outnumber Republicans two to one in the “Empire State.”  Nothing but fear can account for this ideological shift.  And nothing but fear can account for the magazine Vox admitting the truth; that they own the crime problem and it’s going to do them in this year at the polls.  Sucks being them.

Crime is a Problem.  Who Knew!?

I was reading an article that Salena Zito wrote on the out-of-control crime in Philadelphia.  And I came across this information,

“A new Morning Consult-Politico poll released late last week shows over three-quarters of voters said violent crime is a major problem in the United States, with only 17% of respondents calling crime a minor problem and only 2% saying it was not a problem at all.”

Well, who’da thunk it?  I can remember just a few weeks ago the polls showed that crime was a much lower priority than inflation but magically now it’s grown.  And yet the people living in the cities where crime has become a daily ordeal will still vote overwhelmingly for Democrats and especially progressives who release criminals almost as soon as they’re caught.  In fact Philadelphia recently re-elected the Soros-backed district attorney that has turned their criminal justice system into a revolving door.

Maybe the pollsters are starting to let the cat out of the bag.  Or maybe things just keep getting worse and even the progressives living in these cities are starting to panic.  Well, I’m beyond caring whether the urban dwellers will come to their senses.  But I am interested to see if reality will have any effect on the Mid-Terms.  Nevada, Georgia, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania all have tight senate and state house races.  They also have big cities that are filled with rampant crime.  It stands to reason that if these races go to Democrats, even in conditions like we have today then there is no point at which the Republicans will be able to win them back.

And that’s an important thing to know.  Cause and effect are the names we give to what we use to analyze the world around us.  When someone pulls the trigger on a gun and someone falls bleeding to the ground with a hole in his chest, we see a cause-and-effect relationship.

If we see the country falling apart, we expect to see Americans vote against the people responsible for this failure.  If we don’t see that response then we have to assume that either the people like what’s happening or voting is, for whatever reason, no longer a measure of the people’s will.

And whereas there is a difference between these two distinct reasons, the result is still the same.  And it is that result that interests me.  As I’ve stated incessantly, I’m looking for clarity.  I’m looking for the answer to the question, “Can we vote our way out of this?”

And everything I see about this election seems to confirm that this is the perfect test case.  There are just so many things going wrong at once that there’s no conceivable way to paint this situation as a coin toss.  There can’t be a starker contrast between what the two sides stand for and what results each side produce.

From the same article I read,

“As one mother in Center City pointed out, President Joe Biden was in Philadelphia one month ago and never once mentioned the violence ripping her city apart. “Which is funny,” she said, “because he said he was giving a speech on the battle for the soul of the nation. Has he looked around at the soul of this city?”

Not once in Biden’s 3,000-word speech did he say the word “crime” or “homicide” or “gangs.” He did, however, identify what he said “was happening in our country today that is not normal” — MAGA Republicans, who he said “represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic” and are “a threat to this country.”  Biden added that Republicans “do not believe in the rule of law.””

Joe Biden accusing Republicans of disbelief in the rule of law is so Orwellian that it almost makes me laugh.  That is until I remember that even if Joe Biden didn’t legitimately win the 2020 election, he still must have gotten close to 50% of the electorate voting for him anyway.  That means that almost half of Americans are either too stupid or too corrupt to reject a malevolent, cretinous liar like Joe Biden.  That is no laughing matter.

So, another data point.  Americans know that crime is out of control.  Will this influence the elections?  Stay tuned in less than four weeks for the answer.

Even Starbucks Throws in the Towel

I just read this article from City Journal that says Starbuck’s is closing a bunch of urban locations because the increases in violence and theft are just too much for them to endure.  Now this is the same company that has championed “defund the police” and every other progressive platitude that came down the pike.  Of course, Starbucks is the icing on the cake.  The real issue is the closing of drug stores in places like Philadelphia, Chicago, Minneapolis and New York.  The Soros district attorneys have decriminalized shop lifting and so these stores have been emptied out so many times they are just clearing out.  And the poorest people who depend on these stores for everything from toilet paper to medicine are out of luck.

But hey, just keep on voting for those Democrats.  That’s working really well for you.  Bring it on, bring it on, bring it on.

Everyone else, stay away from the cities.  They’ll be death traps for a generation.
