A Miracle

I have talked about several cases of a hopeless leftist feminist having a moment of clarity.  Well, here’s another one.

Maureen Dowd is a psychotic feminist harpy.  But something has finally snapped.  Here are some of the money quotes:

“Some Democrats are finally waking up and realizing that woke is broke.

“Donald Trump won a majority of white women and remarkable numbers of black and Latino voters and young men.”

“Democratic insiders thought people would vote for Kamala Harris, even if they didn’t like her, to get rid of Trump. But more people ended up voting for Trump, even though many didn’t like him, because they liked the Democratic Party less.”

“On CNN, Democratic strategist Julie Roginsky said that Democrats did not know how to talk to normal Americans.

Addressing Latinos as “Latinx” to be politically correct “makes them think that we don’t even live on the same planet as they do,” she said.”

“Democratic candidates have often been avatars of elitism – Michael Dukakis, Al Gore, John Kerry, Hillary Clinton and second-term Barack Obama. The party embraced a worldview of hyper-political correctness, condescension and cancellation”

Even a year ago this feminist shrew wouldn’t have dreamed of talking in honest terms about the hypocrisy and stupidity that passes for leftist orthodoxy.  But today she can.  The Democrat party is in disarray.  This proves it:

“Seth Moulton, a Democratic member of the House of Representatives (from Massachusetts!), said the party needs rebranding. “Democrats spend way too much time trying not to offend anyone,” he said. “I have two little girls. I don’t want them getting run over on a playing field by a male or formerly male athlete, but as a Democrat I’m supposed to be afraid to say that.””

Even a week ago that would have been called hate speech and Moulton would have been raked over the coals for being a transphobe.  But now Democrat voters are waking up to the fact that more than half the country doesn’t believe in their wacked out leftist nonsense.  And far from disqualifying them from being heard, it has qualified them to pick the next President of the United States.  And that won’t be Kamala Harris.

So, Dowd is starting to have rational thoughts well-up from her psyche.  Could she make it all the way back to sanity?  Will this cause her to lose her job at the New York Times?  Does this presage a larger movement of leftists coming to their senses and gravitating back to rational thought?

Only time will tell.  But it does give at least some hope that reality can penetrate into the woke hive mind.  Maybe a few of the less addled drones can be saved from the programming and return to normalcy.  Well, it was fun to even imagine for a second these crazed individuals coming to their senses.  Imagine if one of these crazy blue-haired cat ladies with a nose ring who go off on a rant about withholding sex from conservative men suddenly had a moment of lucidity and realized that if she just lost fifty pounds and ditched the nose ring and let her hair go back to its normal color, she could maybe get a date with a normal guy and maybe start enjoying life again.

Now wouldn’t that be a miracle.

Don’t Let Them See You Sweat

There are all kinds of men in this world.  They vary in temperament, intelligence, philosophy, habits, health and any number of other traits.  And likewise with women.  They come in infinite variety.  Most notably of late is their level of allegiance to the feminist project.  So, they run the gamut from strident man-hating lesbians and cat ladies all the way to the maternal heroine of the Victorian novel who lives to help her children and dotes on her husband.

But one thing I’ve noticed about all women.  When the bottom drops out of the world and the Huns are at the gate even the most misandric harpy that ever railed against the patriarchy runs around in circles screaming for the cavalry to arrive.  And just to be specific they expect the cavalry to be steeped in testosterone and bearing Y-chromosomes.

The best example of this that I can remember was directly after September 11th 2001.  Maureen Dowd was and is a journalist for the New York Times and she has spent decades banging the drum for feminist complaints about men.  Her contempt for men in general and conservatives in particular was limitless.  But then the Towers were knocked down in September and suddenly policemen, firemen and soldiers were the heroes she wanted to write about.  Suddenly she realized that the only thing standing between her and the primitive world that is held in check by modernity is a man with a gun.  Of course, eventually she calmed down and realized that men with guns tend not to be feminists.  And she returned to her default contempt.  But for as long as she was scared, she wanted to be comforted by the knowledge that the patriarchy was keeping her safe.

And that impulse to look to the man with a gun is programmed into her DNA.  She won’t admit it because it makes her seem like someone who can’t push aside sex-linked traits as if they were just “social constructs.”  And it’s more than just protection from the Hun.  Whatever the catastrophe, when the bottom drops out a woman looks to her man to make things whole again.  And that’s all women.  The good ones are grateful.  The dishonest ones pretend they could have done it on their own.  They may even pretend they did.

But when Armageddon arrives, and you’re busy trying to figure out how to save the day, it’s good to remember that the women folk often need some kind of sign from you that you can save the day.  And here the female psyche should be taken into consideration.  Because even if there’s nothing that you can think of to do the best strategy is to appear to be doing something constructive.  I am convinced that a fretful woman who sees her man engaged in physical activity with tools of whatever kind; mechanical, diagnostic or even just a wheelbarrow will take solace from the idea that he is taking the lead and solving the problem.  And it doesn’t hurt if he assigns her some role to play in the “brilliant plan” that he is already putting into motion.

Camera Girl, even Camera Girl is not immune from this behavior.  She that has shared my life for almost half a century; knows me right down to my toes.  And she knows just how lazy and lethargic I am by nature.  But when I can see that something serious has scared her, then I know it’s time for me to do my best Superman impression and let her know that I have a way to make everything whole again.  Of course, most times I don’t and maybe I’m kind of scared myself.  But admitting that is a big mistake.  Morale is a very important part of life and if you let the family morale crack, things get even tougher.

So that’s my insight.  I recently saw an example of this that reminded me of this dynamic.  I thought it might be useful information for others.

New York Strong?

Back a few years ago two brothers had the demented idea that setting off a couple of shrapnel bombs at the Boston Marathon finish line was a good idea.  Their family were Muslim refugees from the Caucasus region.  This was their idea of a fitting thanks for being taken in.  While the police hunted these two maniacs down in the Eastern Massachusetts environs, the Media and the Democrats in Massachusetts state and local government and then President Obama immediately started using the expression Boston Strong.  It was meant to imply that Boston not only was too strong to let death and maiming disturb them but also that only weaklings would blame Muslims for wanting to blow them up.  It was a bizarre proposition.  I was trying to understand if it was beneath their dignity to try to prevent a recurrence of the bombing.  Would that be a sign of weakness?

Now we have New York City doing their best impression of Boston Strong.  New York Strong.  Just go about your business.  Attend the Halloween parade.  If you think terror attacks are unacceptable then the terrorists win.  Just shake it off.  No plan from the Mayor or Governor for keeping New Yorkers safe from a recurrence.  No mention that the killer was a known threat.  Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.  Business as usual.  Just the price to pay for enjoying ethnic foods and all that great diversity.  No one’s to blame (except maybe Trump for riling up these good people).  The Muslim Mayor of London has taken it a step further and declared that terror attacks are just business as usual in a with-it cosmopolitan place like London.  Kind of like expensive parking.

And of course the candlelight vigils and the celebrity condolences.  And big stars too!  Taylor Swift, Jared Leto, Patricia Arquette, Josh Groban, David Harbour, Bette Midler, Josh Gad, Zoe Saldana, Sam Smith, Will Arnett.  Wow, star power.

And most impressive, a message from Boy George: “God bless you New York. You are a strong, vibrant, multicultural city and nothing will ever bring you down! My heart is with you!”  Well that’s a relief.  If Boy George’s heart is with us, there can’t be anything really too wrong with the current situation.  Maybe this is really a good thing in disguise.  We’re not only strong but vibrant and multicultural.  Of course, the multicultural thing does make me think about the Uzbeki contingent.  Maybe we should look at that part again.  No, no that’s badthink.

I remember about sixteen years ago New York wasn’t feeling too strong to want a little payback.  But that was back before Obama and Bloomberg re-educated the City on who was really responsible for that attack.  It was all those ignorant yahoos who were clinging to their guns and God.  They annoyed those peaceful adherents to the religion of peace.  Back then even dyed in the wool pacifists like Maureen Dowd were happy to see George Bush would protect America from attack and in fact would retaliate against Al Qaeda.

Full disclosure, I was born and spent the first thirty years of my life in New York City.  I still have family there.  When the 9/11 attacks ocurred I was outraged to a degree that is hard to explain.  And I was proud of the City and the Country for the way they responded to the crisis.  Giuliani and Bush responded extremely admirably and with great competency.

I don’t think there is anything left in New York City that could react to a real attack now.  Looking at the tepid response to this latest attack I’m guessing if the Freedom Tower was brought down by a terrorist attack that New York Strong would mean putting a tarp up over the rubble and a rezoning action to prevent any other tall building from being erected to tempt the purveyors of peace.  And of course, Boy George would send a strong, vibrant, multicultural tweet.
