Tucker Carlson Provides an Excellent Discussion of Ukraine

I think this is the best summary from a mainstream source that I have seen so far.  Carlson touches upon many of the important aspects of how this war is going to make our lives worse in the weeks and months ahead.  Energy prices, food prices and increases in everything else because of the impact of the price of oil.  And fundamentally, the increased risk of starting a nuclear war.  Tucker Carlson is probably the only mainstream source that provides this point of view.  Everyone else including the rest of Fox News is carrying water for the UniParty and their desire to start a war with Russia.

The Big Poker Game

Russia’s all in.  The leaders of the western “democracies” are looking at their hand and wondering if the other guy has a better one.  And the rest of us are trying to figure out how we will end up paying for the loss.  Because we lose every which way it goes.

No matter what happens, we’re going to be paying for $10 a gallon gasoline and $10 a gallon heating oil.  Forget about expensive restaurants and vintage wines.  We’re going to have to get used to eating peanut butter sandwiches for dinner and mending our old clothes.  Everything that used to seemed normal will become extravagances.  We’ll be counting the pennies and sweating the dollars that we don’t have.

Since we’re the ones footing the bill, we might as well enjoy the show.  Russia is going to force Ukraine to stay in its orbit.  The West is going to banish Russia from their financial and economic systems.  This will be followed by Russia withholding oil and gas and other commodities like fertilizer from Europe and the US.  This round of tit for tat lockouts and boycotts will lead to huge dislocations in supply and demand of critical materials like wheat and corn.  I guess we’ll get to see Joe Biden’s approval numbers reach single digits in the months running up to the November midterms.  I guess if it got bad enough it’s theoretically possible that the incoming congress could impeach and convict Dementia Joe of mopery and dopery and boot him and his mentally fragile vice president out of office and make a Republican president.  That might be fun to follow on tv.

But I’m not sure if anyone will want the job by then.  I think Americans are going to be extremely displeased with the way things will be going for the next couple of years.  Dopey Joe has screwed things up royally and it won’t be easy to fix it.  And that’s assuming that we don’t get into a nuclear war with Russia.  I’m not sure what the geniuses in the think tanks feel are the odds of this happening.  But based on nothing but what I’ve read about the start of World War One and my gut instinct I’m guessing that the odds of a shooting war breaking out is 50/50.

But nuclear war isn’t something I worry about anymore.  We’ve put a drooling idiot in charge of the nuclear arsenal and General Milley in charge of our trans-army so we’ve already chosen to leave our survival up to the toss of a coin.  All I’m interested in at this point is how the American public reacts to all this going on.  Even ten years ago half of these problems would have guaranteed an administration would be voted out of office.  If it turns out that’s not the case this time then this country has truly been fundamentally changed for the worse.

So let the poker game proceed.  Bluffing and raising the stakes are the order of the day.  Well, lying is Joe’s forte.  The problem is he does it so consistently that everyone assumes that every word out of his mouth is a lie.  The only problem for Joe is Putin probably doesn’t bluff.

Reality Dawns on Zelensky

President Zelensky of the Ukraine confronts reality.  He explains to reporters, “I don’t want to talk to Putin but I think I have to talk to Putin because there are no other ways to stop this war.”

It’s funny how all the West is disappointed that Zelensky isn’t thrilled about the idea of fighting to the last Ukrainian.  For the reporters and neocon pundits it’s a video game.  To Zelensky it’s probably starting to get very scary.  If he forces Putin to kill thousands of people I think Zelensky realizes things won’t end up well for himself.  Let’s hope for his people’s sake he sees the light really soon.

The Neocons Step Through the Looking Glass

I saw a title of an article from the “Bulwark.”  It read, “The West Is Winning, Russia Is Losing, and Biden Is Doing a Good Job.”  The genius who wrote this article attempts to list the likely outcomes of the current crisis.  This is what he comes up with:

(1) Putin seeks a ceasefire.

(2) Putin is deposed.

(3) Putin uses a nuclear weapon.

(4) NATO winds up actively engaged with Russian forces.

I didn’t link to the article because it’s worthless.  It’s almost as if this guy had to post something and lacking any information or insight he just put down things that make him feel good; West winning, Russia losing, Biden good.  I’m surprised he didn’t include some obligatory rainbow flag waving like, “Ukrainian trans-militia unit defeats Russian tank column with dance routine.”

Well, I’m officially boycotting the Ukraine war until they have some data with numbers involved.  I don’t follow a war that has no casualty reports.  If armies are fighting, men die.  If they aren’t dying then this is a prelude, a fake war.

When something actually happens I’ll pay attention.

Neil Oliver Talks About Despots and Freedom

Since I first saw one of Neil Oliver’s videos on The Conservative Treehouse I’ve come to envy his amazing eloquence and his Scottish brogue.  But more than his language skills I enjoy his forthright defense of freedom.  I really don’t know his history or his specific political stripe but he has been passionate about standing against the anti-freedom forces array against him and us.

In this video he talks about how what’s happening in Ukraine is no longer the antithesis of how the West behaves.  After all if Joe Biden doesn’t like your politics he’ll send men with guns to throw you into prison and if you resist you’ll end up just as dead as a Ukrainian freedom fighter.

Ukraine?  Really?

In the classic Seinfeld episode, those two morons Kramer and Newman are playing Risk on the subway.  Kramer taunts Newman on the feeble nature of his position and he states that the Ukraine is weak.  Where upon a Ukrainian émigré takes offense and smashes the board sending Kramer’s armies flying in all directions.

If you look at a map of Europe Ukraine is a large country pressed between Russia and the former Soviet block countries.  It has over 40,000,000 people living in it and among European countries only Russia has a larger area.  It has also been a part of the Russian civilization in one form or another for a thousand years.  Thinking that the Russians in their current revitalized nationalism would allow the Ukraine to join NATO is a bit daft.  The Russians can bring to bear enormous military pressure on the Ukraine.  In addition, there is a very strong Russian minority living in the Ukraine.  And NATO consists of countries that are not willing to send their armies into the Ukraine to fight the Russians toe to toe to save it.  That leaves one other alternative.  The United States would have to launch an all-out thermonuclear strike against Russia.  Whether China would have to be nuked too is debatable.

So, Dementia Joe is going to blow up the world for Ukraine.  I think not.  All that is going on is Biden is trying to distract the country from runaway inflation, COVID fascism, rampant crime in the cities and critical race theory being taught in the schools.

I doubt that anyone takes this seriously other than the Neocons.  They’re probably practically orgasmic just contemplating Ukraine (and sure why not Belarus) joining NATO.  But they’re dopier than Newman and Kramer.

To be totally honest twenty years ago when Russia was on the ropes with the Chechnya revolt in full swing, it might have been possible to consider a scenario where Russia collapsed into the arms of NATO and joined Europe as a client state.  Those days are far behind us.  A more likely future might see the Eastern European countries balancing their interests between the EU and Russia to get the best of both worlds.  Western Europe has proven itself much more problematic in terms of intellectual and cultural freedom than these eastern countries imagined.  With the Soviet Union gone, places like Hungary and the Czech Republic find threats to their freedom and cultural heritage coming from Brussels not Moscow.  In fact, Russia’s pro-Christian, anti-woke orientation is more inviting for these recently freed states than Western Europe’s post-religious, pro-immigrant stance.

And even the much wimpier claim that the West will employ trade and monetary sanctions against the Russians rings pretty hollow when you realize that Europe depends on natural gas to keep it from freezing in the winter and the Russians can increase the price of that commodity very easily.  In fact, Germany is waiting very patiently for the Americans to wake up and realize that Russia is about to become Europe’s energy provider with the Nord Stream 2 about to come on line.  At that point, Germany will become a client of Russia and knowing the Germans they will prove very cordial neighbors.

So, not that it really needs to be said but Ukraine, Ukraine, Ukraine is just noise.  And that noise can’t be heard over the screaming about the real problems that the Democrats have caused in this country.  That tail just won’t wag that dog this time.
