Eternity is a child building a sand-castle by the sea, and that child is the whole majesty of man’s power in the world.

Is Something Real Starting to Happen?
I read a lot of people who say things aren’t going to get better anytime soon. The Dissident Right and Neo-Reactionary guys like Curtis Yarvin all paint a very bleak picture. They’ll tell you that the managerial elite or the Deep State or the Cathedral or whatever label they prefer for the oligarchs who control America, that they aren’t going to let us vote our way out of this.
And these same doomsayers don’t hold out much hope of any other method for fixing things. They’ll laugh at talk of a cold or hot civil war changing things. They might as well be telling us all to drop dead.
But maybe they’re wrong. Maybe the Masters of the Universe aren’t all that tough. Just this week one of the January 6th prisoners and even the poor dopes who got roped into that ridiculous FBI sting to “kidnap” the Michigan governor; both of these victim groups were acquitted by a court of the trumped-up charges they were accused of.
And in the last week or two, states have begun to push back against the transgender lunacy that Washington and the local teachers have been pushing on small children. And municipal and school board elections in places like Minnesota and Wisconsin have been going to Republicans for the first time in decades.
And these things are happening because the people in these states are fed up. Politicians are reacting to people reaching their limit of insane conditions. Maybe the Left has finally boiled the frog too fast. Maybe a critical mass of Americans is ready to say NO!
I always get fretful when hope starts to appear on the horizon. We’ve been disappointed so many times before. I’m even dreading to post this article. My readership may rise up and demand my cancellation for the mortal sin of unwarranted optimism. And I wouldn’t blame them. Having our hopes dashed yet again is crueler in some ways than having no hope at all.
And yet, there seems to be some measurable forward progress being made. Large swaths of Americans are waking up to just how unhinged the Left’s agenda is. They’re seeing the results on American life of things like:
- Defund the police
- CRT in the schools and at work
- $5/gallon gas to save the planet
- firing people who won’t take an unsafe vaccine that doesn’t work
- Letting some protestors burn down businesses with impunity because of their politics
- Jailing other protestors just because of their politics
- Government discriminating against people because of their race
- Allowing teachers and doctors to overrule parents and mutilate children in the name of trans rights
Maybe the madness has gone so far that the reaction will finally sweep all of this away. Luckily for me we don’t have to guess forever. It should be relatively easy to know if things are changing. Real change will be unmistakable. In the past when fake change happened the pattern was clear. Voters would throw out the Democrats and the Republicans would immediately become the Democrats. They’d spend all their time cutting deals with the Democrats to keep the same old con games going. If something new is happening we can expect to see all the RINO’s primaried this year and replaced with Trump picks. We should see Joe Biden impeached next year. And in the rollup to 2024 we would expect to hear a platform that directly addresses all of the bullet points I listed above.
As I say we’ll know soon enough. The first hints were the governor’s race in Virginia and the laws against CRT and trans-madness. Soon we should see echoes of these in the 2022 election campaigns and the primary results. Sorry if I’ve raised hopes that could be painfully dashed but there does seem to be something happening here. Keep your eyes open and you might see something new.
Add Alabama to the List of States that Want to Save their Children
DeSantis has started a revolution. And it’s spreading. First Virginia, then Texas, Alabama and several other states are working on their own versions.
Here are some quotes from the article
“Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey has signed two bills related to transgender issues and sexual identity into law.
One outlaws transgender youth’s access to gender-affirming medications. The law makes it a felony to prescribe puberty blockers or hormones to trans youth under 19.
…..
The second bill prevents teachers from providing instruction on sexual identity to students in kindergarten through fifth grades. It also requires students in public K-12 schools to use bathrooms and locker rooms that match the gender designated on their birth certificates.
…….
“We should especially protect our children from these radical, life-altering drugs and surgeries when they are at such a vulnerable stage in life. Instead, let us all focus on helping them to properly develop into the adults God intended them to be.”
…..
Ivey released this statement upon signing this bill into law: “Here in Alabama, men use the men’s room, and ladies use the ladies’ room – it’s really a no brainer. This bill will also ensure our elementary school classrooms remain free from any kind of sex talk.
…..
“We don’t need to be teaching young children about sex. We are talking about 5-year-olds for crying out loud. We need to focus on what matters – core instruction like reading and math.””
Good let’s hope it spreads to the rest of the red states and maybe beyond.
Dune, Part 1; A Very Short Discussion of the Movie – A Science Fiction Movie Review
In November of 2021 Neil Dunn wrote an excellent review of Dune part 1. Now that I’ve finally seen the movie, I can definitively say that his review was wholly accurate. Let me qualify my comments by stating up front that I have inexplicably avoided reading the Dune books most of my life. And now I am ready to amend that situation.
As I said this will be short. The movie is a stylish and well-made science fiction film that uses the current state of the art in computer-generated imagery to great effect. The battle scenes, the space ships and the creatures such as the sand worms are all impressively realistic.
The actors are very good. With only a couple of familiar faces I was still highly impressed by the cast. The plot was kept moving and the tension between the family dynamics and the political struggle was well done.
Read Neil’s review for a more in-depth and authoritative look at the story. But as a new comer to the Dune universe I will gladly recommend this film to all fans of science fiction and more generally, to anyone who likes a good adventure film.

You could not step twice into the same river.
Heraclitus of Ephesus (Ἡράκλειτος, Herakleitos; c. 535 BC – 475 BC)
Everything About Biden is Weird, Even His Secret Service Detail
Joe Biden’s secret service detail contains at least two men who are Iranians with Iranian passports. Twenty years ago that would have been an impossibility. But then again twenty years ago Joe Biden being president would have been an impossibility. Anyway the details are bizarre.
“More details are emerging about the four Secret Service employees entangled in an alleged bribery scheme carried out by two men accused of masquerading as Department of Homeland Security law enforcement agents.
An affidavit filed Wednesday night in U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C. revealed that one of the Secret Service agents involved in the bribery scheme was a special agent assigned to First Lady Jill Biden’s protective detail. Another was a Uniformed Division officer at the White House.
…
One of the men impersonating DHS agents allegedly told witnesses in the case that he had connections to ISI, the Pakistani intelligence agency, a prosecutor said during a court hearing Thursday. Both U.S. citizens accused of the bribery hold passports with visas to Iran and Pakistan. They were allegedly impersonating DHS officials and attempted to bribe four members of the elite force that protects the president, vice president, and their families.”
Here’s my favorite quote:
“The Bidens have paid special attention to selecting their Secret Service detail, which is not uncommon when new presidents move into the White House and take on the role of commander in chief. In December 2020, after his election, then-President-elect Biden made some staffing changes amid concerns from political allies that some members of the detail were too politically aligned with President Trump, the Washington Post reported at the time. Biden shuffled in a handful of senior agents whom he knew well from their time protecting him and his family four years ago when he was vice president.”
So Biden asked for these guys especially. I wonder if they’re on the “Big Guy’s” special payroll through Hunter. What’s next, Hunter hosting orgies in the Lincoln bedroom?
