A Graph That Actually Means Something

The polls will always show President Trump (or any Republican) losing in any election.  FUD is just part of their plan.  But apparently their FUD this year is weaker than their FUD in 2016.  Objectively that can’t be good for Joe Biden.  If President Trump is running a half a point ahead of what he did in 2016 he’s probably feeling pretty good about his chances.  Well, Biden needs a rest anyway.

Do We Need a New Foundation?

Almost since I was able to read, I have been a consumer of science fiction stories.  Back in the 1960s Asimov’s Foundation trilogy was considered part of the canon of great science fiction.  For the non-science-fiction-nerd, the Foundation stories are based on a conceit that a galaxy wide empire of human planets was formed and then, just as with the Roman Empire, it ends up in decay.  A mathematical genius named Harry Seldon perfects the science of “psychohistory” and calculates that the fall of the galactic empire is imminent and unstoppable and that the dark age to follow it will last 30,000 years before civilization reestablishes itself again across the Milky Way galaxy.  Seldon also calculates that if he could manage to set up an isolated “foundation” of scientists it can act as a seed to hasten the new civilization so that the galaxy can be restored to order in just a millennium.  Okay, end of science fiction history lesson.

Remarkably, the real world is now starting to resemble the fictional galactic empire and it got me thinking.  Do we need a foundation in this country that can survive the wreck of our republic and maybe form the nucleus for a rebirth of normalcy in this part of the world?  Asimov wrote the story so that the Foundation was located in the most obscure backwater of the galaxy so that it would be missed by the still powerful empire until it was too exhausted to be dangerous to the new civilization growing there.  Whether the analogy extends that far is a question.  In fact, I don’t even see a reason why it should be just one seed.  It seems smarter to have multiple centers and let them coalesce over time once the threat from the present federal government is reduced or eliminated.  But I could see how a large and powerful state like Texas would be a target for the feds while a small state like Arkansas might be missed when the feds go looking for trouble.  And another difference between literature and real life might be that rather than a complete destruction of the old state possibly we’ll see the old union start to reform with both sides of the political divide forming coalitions with the states that have the same politics.  Maybe the red states start pulling the same sort of stuff that the blue states do.  They can restrict their trade to just the states that align with their political view.  They can pass state laws to make it more difficult for the blue states and federal government to interfere in the aspects of life that they tend to cause problems in.  And they can coordinate their efforts to punish the blue states when they make a nuisance of themselves.

These things are already happening on the ground in the blue states with initiatives like sanctuary cities and so the question is whether some kind of coordination between these centers in the red states would be the equivalent of a new foundation.  Maybe the term foundation doesn’t seem precisely right but what we are talking about is the strength of a state being needed to protect its people from the feds and the woke establishment.  A state is big enough to resist coercion from the federal government.  The blue states have done a great deal along these lines and for the most part not a lot has been done to stop or even hinder them.  I know that the Left will resist this with every force they can bring to bear but just having the authorities in the reddest states begin the work of separating their interests from the blue states would be a sea change in how we all look at our place in the country.  And it would legitimize the point of view that the states are going to begin taking back their rights from the federal government.  In fact, that might be the only thing that can save this country.  What I mean is that even though both sides hate each other if we loosen up the controls so that the individual states can control their own affairs, they may be able to stand belonging to the same loose confederation as their enemies.

Now the only question is where should the new capitol be?  Never mind.  No capitol.  Just let the senators zoom from home when they need to talk.  And no salary either.  And two terms maximum.  Let’s be smart this time.

Texas Will Prosecute Netflix Over Movie that Sexualizes Children

Netflix has been indicted on a criminal charge that alleges the streaming giant promotes “lewd visual material” of a child.

“The lawsuit centers on the release of the French film “Cuties” that has been mired by controversy since its release last month.

A Tyler County, Texas grand jury moved to return an indictment against Netflix on Sept. 23, Fox News confirmed on Tuesday via court documents.

The complaint alleges Netflix “knowingly” promoted visual material which “depicts the lewd exhibition of the genitals or pubic area of a clothed or partially clothed child who was younger than 18 years of age at the time the visual material was created, which appeals to the prurient interest in sex, and has no serious, literary, artistic, political, or scientific value.””

Perfect.  I hope Netflix is sued out of existence.  It would be poetic and actual justice.  These are awful people who would be better off in prison for the rest of their lives.  If our society has sunk this low then there is not much hope that it will survive.  In fact, if we allow this sort of thing to happen then our society should be destroyed.

Star Trek – The Original Series – Complete Series Review – Season 2 Episode 19 – A Private Little War

Let me just start by saying that this episode is so awful that you must see it.  It’s marvelously bad.

When first join our heroes, McCoy is rooting around on his knees in the foothills of Los Angeles.  Spock and Kirk were nearby discussing the peaceful inhabitants of the planet (I suppose Angelinos) and Kirk’s earlier visit to the planet as a young officer.  Suddenly they notice that one tribe with fake black hair is ambushing with another tribe with fake blond hair.  And the attackers have flintlock rifles while the rest of the planet is still using bows and arrows.  And most importantly the man about to be shot is Kirk’s old friend Tyree.  Rather than use his phaser (and disobey the prime directive) Kirk throws a rock at the rifleman and spoils his shot.

Hilarity ensues as Kirk and Spock flee back to McCoy while being pursued by the tribesmen.  Finally, one manages to shoot Spock in the back and they barely have time to beam up to the Enterprise before being finished off by the black wig guys.  Back on the ship McCoy and his esteemed colleague Dr. M’Benga who luckily is an expert at Vulcan physiology, are able to stabilize Spock’s vital signs but his life hangs in the balance as space age medicine is reduced to watching as the self-healing capabilities of Spock’s mind are left to repair the damage.

Kirk wisely decides not to hang around for that snooze fest and instead beams down to the planet with McCoy and determine if the Klingons that have been seen in orbit are responsible for the advanced weaponry (primitive firearm) that Kirk observed earlier.  Kirk’s plan is to speak to his old friend Tyree who is chief of the blond wig tribe and also an embarrassing pacifist.  But when they approach the village they are attacked by, and I kid you not, a man in a gorilla suit that’s been bleached white.  And if that wasn’t ridiculous enough, they glued a horn on its head and put a row of huge spines running down its back.  The gorilla man tosses McCoy away and then starts gnawing on Kirk’s shoulder while he writhes in pain.  Eventually McCoy comes to and blasts the gorilla with his phaser.

But now we find out that this is no ordinary albino, horned gorilla but the much more dangerous albino, horned, venomous gorilla.  Now here is the first Shatner Mockery bonanza.  Kirk is dying of the venom and he starts shivering and generally spassing out in an hilarious manner.  This is some serious bad acting.  Then we get to the village and find that Tyree’s wife, Nona, is a witch woman and can cure the deadly bite of the albino, horned, venomous, gorilla.  Nona is played by Nancy Kovack, a highly attractive young actress who has been squeezed into a pair of skin tight, leather hip huggers and the traditional gorilla fur bodice.

Meanwhile back on the ship Spock is in a coma.  Dr. M’Benga tells Nurse Chapel that at a certain point Spock would begin to awaken and whatever he asked her to do she must do it.  When Spock wakes, he tells Chapel to slap him in the face hard, over and over again.  At first reluctant, but after additional demands from Spock she starts slapping him ringingly and seems to warm to her work.  Scotty walks in and restrains her bodily but just then Dr. M’Benga arrives and finishes off the face slapping.  Successfully slapped silly Spock makes a full recovery.

Anyway, Nona is disillusioned with the pacifism of her husband Tyree and wants him to get Kirk to provide phasers to allow Tyree to become the great leader of the blond wig nation.  In exchange for the promise of advanced weapons she agrees to cure Kirk.  This involves her cutting her hand and placing it on the bite while gyrating and undulating on top of Kirk in a highly humorous display.  Kirk is cured and later on Nona drugs Kirk to get his phaser.  But another albino, horned, venomous gorilla shows up and to save herself from the gorilla she rolls around on the ground screaming for Kirk to help.  But the drug has doofed him out and it takes almost two minutes of rolling on the ground before he gets around to disintegrating the gorilla.  But for his trouble all he gets is a large jagged rock smashed against his skull by Nona as she steals his phaser.

She has decided to switch sides and take up with the more aggressive and obviously more manly chief of the black wig tribe.  She finds a few black wigs wandering around and tells them to take her to their leader.  But they are so excited by the tight pants that they start pawing at her.  Just then Kirk, McCoy and Tyree show up.  Thinking that Nona had led them into a trap they stab her to death and then proceed to get their clocks cleaned by Kirk and to a small extent Tyree.  Now that Nona is dead Tyree sees the light of day and tells Kirk to get him a bunch of rifles.  This fits in with Kirk’s plan to supply the blond wig guys with exactly the same weapons as the Klingons provide to the black wig guys.  He explains that his theory is based on the balance of power that existed between the East and West during the cold war and how that prevented total war.  He tells a skeptical McCoy that he doesn’t like the solution but that it is the only way to prevent catastrophic defeat by one side.  Then it mercifully ends.

What a mess.  The wigs, the monster suit, Shatner’s bad acting, the embarrassing scenes with the monster, the embarrassing scenes with Nona, the embarrassing scenes with Nurse Chapel, Dr. M’Benga’s name.  Really the only positive thing the episode has is Nona’s outfit.  But this is a Shatner mockery bonanza.  I score this episode 4 // 10.

How Much Weirder Will It Get?

We are living in a time that, with respect to weirdness, rivals anything in living memory.  We have whole areas of the country that are not only tolerating but actually abetting a violent insurrection on their own soil.  We have the intelligentsia and the various other elite groupings of the country almost monolithically backing an attempt to unseat a legitimately elected President of the United States by illegal actions of the Justice Department and Intelligence agencies of the Federal government.  And finally, we have a bioweapon unleashed by the Chinese and allowed by the Democrat controlled states to disrupt the life and economy of the country right before a presidential election.  All that’s missing is an eruption of walking dead stalking the countryside in search of fresh brains or a flying saucer invasion or an infestation of elephant sized giant ants in the sewers of Portland Oregon.  Scratch that last one.  No one would notice or care if Portland was wiped out by giant ants.  It would be an improvement.

There is a theory that right after the election is decided the rioting will stop and even the COVID hysteria will end.  Depending on the theorist this will or won’t depend on who wins.  Some speculate that if President Trump wins that the rebellion will continue and maybe even increase.  Others say that it ends no matter who wins.

I’m not sure who’s right.  I do know that the radicals have become completely unhinged.  I’m not sure they will disappear if the Democrats take over.  In fact, I think they will become the shock troops to reinforce whatever unconstitutional actions the Democrats proclaim.  If the President wins, he may be faced with this unending street violence into the foreseeable future.  Up till now he has barely intervened in places like Portland and Seattle.  But after the election it doesn’t seem possible that the status quo can continue.  And I’m sure the President wants to end this chaotic disruption of the peace.

So, this is what I think will be after the election.  If the President is re-elected, he has to crush the rebellion.  The correct way this should happen is for the FBI to gather up the ringleaders and prosecute them and those that funded and organized them.  If William Barr is slow to do this then he will have to be replaced.  And it seems we will know almost immediately if this will be necessary.  Barr has failed to prosecute the conspirators of the Coup against the President.  If after the President is re-elected Barr fails to act then he must be immediately dismissed and replaced with someone willing to clean out the Justice Department from top to bottom.  And this new Attorney General will also need to crush Antifa and BLM completely.  And I judge that this can be accomplished, if not easily, then at least after some diligence.

But if Biden wins the White House then the red states are going to have to take action against these groups inside their cities.  Places like Austin, Texas and Atlanta, Georgia will need to be cleaned out by the state governments.  This will be made all the more difficult by the interference that the Justice Department and its components like the FBI will perpetrate in support of the terrorists.  And I further believe that once the federal government is in friendly hands, these terrorist groups will unleash chaos on an even grander scale.  They will issue out of the cities and terrorize the suburbs and countryside.  It may be that this will be the spark that finally starts a counterrevolution.  But it will be mess.

These are my guesses as to what awaits us after the election.  Obviously, I prefer that a second Trump Administration will be the instrument of destruction for the Antifa and BLM vermin.  But either way, I think it is long past time that these anarchists are dragged away and put in prison where they truly belong.  Let’s hope that our leaders have the backbone to get it done.
