24 GOP Governors Message Solidarity With Abbott in Texas

24 GOP Governors Message Solidarity with Abbott in Texas

So, I was watching the Big Lebowski tonight.  That movie has an odd effect on me.  It’s a comic tour de force.  It piles absurdity on absurdity with nothing but bizarre characters as far as the eye can see.  And I find most of the humor highly entertaining.  But it always sort of depresses me too.  I guess it’s because even in their comedies the Coen Brothers are always laughing at us.  And it’s not a friendly laugh.  They’re dramatizing the meaninglessness of human existence.  Well, at least that’s how it affects me.

Then I read this.

The full list is:

Governor Kay Ivey (AL), Governor Mike Dunleavy (AK), Governor Sarah Sanders (AR), Governor Ron DeSantis (FL), Governor Brian Kemp (GA), Gov. Kim Reynolds (IA), Governor Brad Little (ID), Governor Eric Holcomb (IN), Governor Jeff Landry (LA), Governor Tate Reeves (MS), Governor Mike Parson (MO), Governor Greg Gianforte (MT), Governor Jim Pillen (NE), Governor Joe Lombardo (NV), Governor Chris Sununu (NH), Governor Doug Burgum (ND), Governor Mike DeWine (OH), Governor Kevin Stitt (OK), Governor Henry McMaster (SC), Governor Kristi Noem (SD), Governor Bill Lee (TN), Governor Spencer Cox (UT), Governor Glenn Youngkin (VA), Governor Jim Justice (WV), and Governor Mark Gordon (WY).  The only abstainers were Republican governors in Vermont and Nevada.  But those aren’t conservative states so there’s no surprise here.

So, this is a mildly encouraging sign.  Maybe the Republicans are starting to realize they have an enormous amount of leverage because of the panic about getting money for Ukraine.  They should demand that Biden deport ten million illegal aliens before he gets a penny.  But what are the odds of the House holding out for that?  Probably pretty slim.

But I do see some good coming of the Republican governors finding common ground.  And of course, I fantasize that they’ll go beyond a letter of support.  What they should do is coordinate a plan to not only close the border but to eject the illegals whenever they show up in the red states.  This is another case of federal law that is being ignored by the federal government.  They could announce to the country that they are going to arrest all illegals and give them a chance to hand themselves over and instead get free airfare back to their homes.

This is the basis of what I was calling the Red State Council.  The red states coordinating to circumvent the sabotage of the federal government and protect each other by enforcing the Constitution within their own borders.  So there’s the tie-in to the Big Lebowski.  It’s filled with nihilism, both explicit and implied.  And that is what the federal government stands for and enforces.  But luckily for us we don’t have to have a Coen Brothers moral to our story.  It is possible to end up with a happily ever afterward story line.  All we need is a bunch of red state governors who decide that twenty five states is enough to stand their ground and refuse to be stampeded on by Biden and his minions.  Well, I guess I should get around to doing a review of the movie.  After all, the dude abides.

Guest Contributor – Chemist – 25JAN2024 – Another Texan’s View

As a Texan, the same question came to my mind: “What took you so long?” This has been going on for 3 years!
But I think one or more of your suggested reasons is the answer. Abbott needed to make the northern blue cities feel the pain before he could act. (Full credit to DeSantis who bussed illegals first.) Now that the invasion is recognized as the number 1 problem facing the US, Abbott’s actions are winning in the public arena.
Does PINO Joe want to go toe to toe with Texas in an election year?
Maybe. Maybe that’s the plan. And maybe after a bloody encounter his puppet masters will pull Joe out at the last minute and put Big Mike on the ballot in his place.
Then Michelle can distance herself from the “Recent Unpleasantness” during the election (No clue what they will do with Kamala) and the regime has another object lesson for the rest of the country.

One thing is for sure. We are living in interesting times. (See ancient Chinese curse.)

H/T to ArthurinCali for Link on Texas Declaration of Emergency

I saw Arthur’s retweet of this declaration of self-defense for Texas against the dereliction of the federal government’s duty to keep illegal aliens out.  It’s interesting.  Governor Abbott sounds like he’s found his backbone.  Here’s the conclusion:

“The failure of the Biden Administration to fulfill the duties imposed by Article IV, § 4 has triggered Article I, § 10, Clause 3, which reserves to this State the right of self-defense. For these reasons, I have already declared an invasion under Article I, § 10, Clause 3 to invoke Texas’s constitutional authority to defend and protect itself. That authority is the supreme law of the land and supersedes any federal statutes to the contrary. The Texas National Guard, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and other Texas personnel are acting on that authority, as well as state law, to secure the Texas border.”

Sounds like he means business.  I hope he does.

STATE OF TEXAS
GOVERNOR GREG ABBOTT
January 24, 2024
The federal government has broken the compact between the United States and the States. The Executive Branch of the United States has a constitutional duty to enforce federal laws protecting States, including immigration laws on the books right now. President Biden has refused to enforce those laws and has even violated them. The result is that he has smashed records for illegal immigration.
Despite having been put on notice in a series of letters one of which I delivered to him by hand-President Biden has ignored Texas’s demand that he perform his constitutional duties.
• President Biden has violated his oath to faithfully execute immigration laws enacted by Congress. Instead of prosecuting immigrants for the federal crime of illegal entry, President Biden has sent his lawyers into federal courts to sue Texas for taking action to secure the border.
•
President Biden has instructed his agencies to ignore federal statutes that mandate the detention of illegal immigrants. The effect is to illegally allow their en masse parole into the United States.
By wasting taxpayer dollars to tear open Texas’s border security infrastructure, President Biden has enticed illegal immigrants away from the 28 legal entry points along this State’s southern border- bridges where nobody drowns and into the dangerous waters of the Rio Grande.
Under President Biden’s lawless border policies, more than 6 million illegal immigrants have crossed our southern border in just 3 years. That is more than the population of 33 different States in this country. This illegal refusal to protect the States has inflicted unprecedented harm on the People all across the United States.
James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, and the other visionaries who wrote the U.S. Constitution foresaw that States should not be left to the mercy of a lawless president who does nothing to stop external threats like cartels smuggling millions of illegal immigrants across the border. That is why the Framers included both Article IV, § 4, which promises that the federal government “shall protect each [State] against invasion,” and Article I, § 10, Clause 3, which acknowledges “the States’ sovereign interest in protecting their borders.” Arizona v. United States, 567 U.S. 387, 419 (2012) (Scalia, J., dissenting).
The failure of the Biden Administration to fulfill the duties imposed by Article IV, § 4 has triggered Article I, § 10, Clause 3, which reserves to this State the right of self-defense. For these reasons, I have already declared an invasion under Article I, § 10, Clause 3 to invoke Texas’s constitutional authority to defend and protect itself. That authority is the supreme law of the land and supersedes any federal statutes to the contrary. The Texas National Guard, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and other Texas personnel are acting on that authority, as well as state law, to secure the Texas border.

Guest Contributor – TomD – 23JAN2024 – Border Betrayal

I think it was Newt Gingrich (I think) who today published an article stating that he would have also voted that way. Wondering about the rational, I meant to go back to read it but got side tracked.

The thought of this devastating invasion purposefully brought on by the Federal Gov in defiance of law, reality and logic is bizarre. And the thought that efforts to lessen the invasion are being defeated by the very agency tasked with defending the border is—–it is so far beyond the bounds that I literally don’t have the words to express my dismay.

Supreme Court Allows Feds to Continue Helping Illegal Aliens to Enter Country, of Course

Texas installed razor-wire to stop illegals from entering Texas.  The Appeals Court ruled that Texas could use the barrier to protect its border.  When the feds brought the case to the Supreme Court Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh voted to stop the federal government helping illegal aliens enter the country.  Of course, John Roberts voted with the Democrats but surprisingly Amy Coney Barrett also did.

So, the supposedly conservative Supreme Court allows the Biden administration to continue to flood Texas with illegal aliens by siding against the Republican Texas governor.  Now does Texas have the stones to just say no to the Supreme Court?  I bet they don’t.  And after what the Justice Department has done to Trump maybe Abbott is right to back down.  Who is to say whether they might kidnap him right out of his home and drag him away into a Washington DC gulag.

If I were Abbott I would definitely continue to bus as many illegal aliens to the Northeast as I could.  But I think that instead of sending them to New York he should send them to Massachusetts.  Their homeless program is already overextended by millions of dollars and if that could be stretched even more it would go a long way toward immiserating the most liberal state in the East.  I follow the news in New England and I sense that a lot of anger is already directed against the costs associated with large increases in illegal aliens.  Maybe a whole year of financial and social pain might make them reconsider the wisdom of another Joe Biden term.

Watching the destruction caused by Biden’s insane border policy makes it crystal clear that if despite all this he still gets reelected then there is absolutely no hope for this country.  A ruinous invasion is harming blue and red states alike and if all the failed policies of the Biden administration do not force his rejection at the ballot box, then nothing can.

This will be the final straw that breaks the camel’s back.  If Joe Biden is reelected then I will have to agree with the Dissident Right that the United States of America is irrevocably a Leftist country.  Whether it is still the best place to live for you or me is a different question.  What will be incontrovertible is that questions of constitutional freedoms will be irrelevant philosophic games.  No rights or freedoms will survive exposure to ideologues that will control all three branches of government.  Eventually a new progressive Supreme court will discover that the Second Amendment only applies to the FBI and that whatever is declared hate speech will trump free speech once and for all.

So, enjoy the primaries and the November election.  Have a blowout party.  If Trump wins, we live to fight another day.  If he loses then eat, drink and be merry for tomorrow we die.  We’ll be in that brave new world where the government decides everything for you; how you heat or cool (or don’t heat or cool) your home, what kind of car you drive, even what kind of food (or bugs) you’re allowed to eat.  One thing’s for sure.  It’ll be double plus good.

The Bait and Switch Nation

The American people have been the victims of a generational swindle.  For the last hundred years and more we were sold on the idea that America was a contract between its people and those running the federal government.  We would follow all the rules and pay our taxes and work the majority of our lives to keep the bureaucracy employed and they would oversee the process of making the colossal manufacturing and industrial capacity of a modern continental power work smoothly and benignly for us and our children.

We were told by the people in charge that ours was a nation of laws and being part of this exceptional place, we were guaranteed by those laws all of the rights and freedoms that the contract specified.

Well, the American people upheld their part of the bargain.  We worked and paid our taxes.  We and our ancestors and our children have fought their wars.  And we believed in the exceptional nature of the American contract.

Well, we don’t believe it anymore.  Maybe it used to be true.  Maybe someone like Teddy Roosevelt believed in the sanctity of the American contract.  But the Bushes, Clintons, Obamas and certainly Joe Biden couldn’t give a damn what happens to us or our children.  In fact, more or less, they just want us to drop dead.

You see, they don’t think they need us anymore.  Who needs soldiers when you have drones and atom bombs?  Who needs factory workers when you have China as your factory.  Who even needs a professional class when you can import scientists and engineers by the boatload from Asia and at half price?

And so, we’ve reached the point where they’re chloroforming off our children’s generation with joblessness, homelessness, fentanyl and social dysfunction.  They’re bringing in the Third World to cut their grass, babysit their kids, fill up the inner cities and contribute to the racial wars that they’re fomenting.  And the last piece of the puzzle is the environmental racket where they tell us to turn off the heating and cooling of our homes, drive cars without energy and learn to eat crickets.

It’s quite a good joke on us.  And maybe it’ll go as they hope with the middle class bankrupted and sinking into the underclass before disappearing altogether.  And so, the millionaires and billionaires and their managerial class toadies can continue to live like princelings amid the Brazil-like squalor that the rest of us will endure.

But I secretly nurse the hope that they immiserate the country too quickly and it cuts across so many class and racial lines at once that they create a grass roots movement to displace the whole Democrat party, branch and root.  And if there are enough smart guys ready to take advantage, maybe they can enact a massive purge of the elites.  And I’m not talking about a reign of terror or anything monstrous.  Just a populist uprising where the inhabitants of Martha’s Vineyard suddenly find themselves on the receiving end of some comeuppance from the likes of me.

Of course, I wouldn’t bet much money that it will happen.  Those with all the money get most of the breaks.  But look, putting Joe Biden in charge isn’t the work of a super-genius.  It’s possible that the smarter elites have already died of old age and the ones left are dimwitted.  So, who knows?  Maybe my wish will come true.  Stick around and maybe we’ll see in November.

Ain’t it Revolting

I’m back, I’m back.  I was held ransom by the forces of darkness that lay claim to my soul here in this hellish corner of New England.  Dunwich is a desolate quagmire of unspeakable infamy.  Here I must traffic in the few remaining grains of sand in my hour glass in return for worthless ducats that cannot be exchanged for anything meaningful, like a breeding group of tuataras or Komodo dragons.  Ah well.

So the news feeds are all full of various pundits on the Left, Right and middle buzzing about the latest crop of foreign right-wing parties and leaders who have broken through and made it to the mainstream.  Geert Wilders in the Netherlands and Javier Milei in Argentina are the latest additions to eruptions in Sweden, Italy, Denmark, Austria, Slovakia and Hungary.  And other countries are threatening to continue this change.  Both France and Germany have growing right-wing parties and there is talk that in the next French presidential election Marine Le Pen may finally win.

So, does any of this indicate a turning of the tide?  Well, it seems to indicate that the ceaseless migration of third world people has finally worn out even the endless patience and tolerance of Swedes and Germans.  Maybe at last these Europeans are ready to end their invasion by people who do not share their values and refuse to assimilate their host country’s manners and identity.

Is it too late to reverse the deterioration of culture and lifestyle that these invaders have caused?  In the case of France, it might be.  There are no-go zones in and around Paris that no longer respond to police authority.  Trying to reassert sovereignty in those areas will require military action similar to what’s currently going on in Gaza.  I tend to doubt that the French are up to the challenge.

But some of the other countries where the invaders are far less entrenched may be able to claw back their homes.  A place like Hungary where they never let the problem take root can be a resource for the type of immigration program that protects the indigenous population from immigration-based suicide.  We’ll see.

Does any of this presage the same type of political change in the United States?  Actually, no.  We had our moment in 2016.  All the pressure that the citizens of this country could bring to bear was expended in the elections in 2016 and 2020.  But the administrative state in concert with the Democrats in the swing states successfully used fraudulent election practices like ballot harvesting to steal the 2020 election.  And since then, they’ve “fortified Democracy” (enshrined voter fraud) in those states to prevent the indigenous citizens of this country from electing the government they need to protect them.  At this point I’d be more than a little surprised if any honest federal elections occur anywhere that has large Democrat run cities.  The prospect of the 3 am shutdown of the polling places followed by the three days of steadily pro=Democrat returns is a little hard to watch so until I’m proven wrong, I’ll assume we won’t have the luxury of stopping illegal immigration anytime in the foreseeable future.

Nevertheless, I’m quite encouraged by the right-wing revolts going on in Europe and elsewhere around the world.  I think they indicate that there is still at least some life left in the West.  And watching these parties growing and waking up more and more of the people in these countries is at least a starting point for some kind of a reaction to the woke ideology that until now has gone completely unchecked.

Keep it coming.

First Argentina, Now the Netherlands are Electing the Right Wing

Another politician that doesn’t parrot the woke talking points has won a big election Geert Wilders is an anti-immigration politician in the usually complacent Dutch nation.  But maybe things are starting to change.

The far-right and anti-Islam populist Geert Wilders was headed for a landslide parliamentary election victory Wednesday in one of the biggest political upsets in Dutch politics since World War II, and one that is bound to send shock waves through Europe.

The result puts him in line to lead talks to form a new ruling coalition and possibly become the country’s prime minister at a time of political upheaval through much of Europe.

The exit poll published by the national broadcaster NOS said that Wilders’ Party for Freedom won 35 seats in the 150-seat lower house, more than double the 17 he won at the last election.”

Of course as in most countries with a multitude of parties building a coalition government is no easy thing for a right-wing party.  But it’s nice to see that the populace is begiining to wake up in the heart of the EU.

Florida Law Has Illegal Aliens Leaving Florida

New laws that Governor DeSantis has signed have begun to funnel illegal aliens out of Florida.  Focusing on things like the driver’s licenses that other states issue to illegal aliens, to the social services used at hospitals the bill seeks to identify illegal aliens and punish those who employ them and allow them to stay in the country illegally.

“It is part of a sweeping immigration bill signed by Republican Florida governor and presidential candidate Ron DeSantis back in May that is prompting many to leave the state.

The run-up to the new law has sparked protests by immigrant workers, from those in the tourism and hospitality industry, to those who work in agricultural fields.

“We are hearing people are starting to leave,” Yvette Cruz with the Farmworkers Association of Florida told CBS News of reports of migrant workers abandoning fields and construction projects. “We’re just gonna keep seeing that more as the law will take effect.”

The law also includes harsh penalties for those who try and hire or transport undocumented migrants, which critics say can include family members.

It also requires hospitals that receive Medicaid funds to ask for a patient’s immigration status.

DeSantis claims the legislation is needed due to what he considers the Biden’s administration’s failure to secure the border.

“At the end of the day, you wouldn’t have the illegal immigration problem if you didn’t have a lot of people who were facilitating this in our country,” DeSantis recently said during a campaign rally.”

Good work Florida, good work DeSantis.
