What Do the Poll Numbers Tell Me?
For decades I’ve noticed that political polls in the United States had a very noticeable bias. Depending on whether they were ridiculously partisan polls or just slightly biased they would skew more or less to the Left. They were able to produce this bias by overestimating the percentage of the population that is Democrat and underestimating the Republican share. And it was just assumed by me that we had to throw our own fudge factor in when trying to make sense of the actual political situation from these flawed measures.
But look at Joe Biden’s approval ratings on RCP now.

These are horrible numbers. And they’re close to accurate. Rasmussen is one of the few pollsters that doesn’t favor Democrats. He’s got Dementia Joe at 42 – 57. CNN which is perpetually in the tank for the Dems has 42 – 57. That’s not an accident. Those are real numbers. And why are they doing this? Because Biden’s numbers with Democrats are terrible too. Or in another way to look at it, a lot of the people who voted for Biden have switched parties. The proportion of voters who claim to be Democrats has shrunk. They’ve shifted to the Republicans or at least to Independents. And they mean that they’ll be voting for Republicans even though they don’t want to be called Republicans because they’re women and they don’t want their friends to judge them harshly.
All this tells me that the midterms are going to be very bad for the Dems. They will lose the House and the Senate. I think that’s a given. Does it mean anything more? Only maybe. It’s completely within the control of the Republicans to do what they typically do and blow this golden opportunity. They can use their control of the Congress to collect fees from the donors and lobbyists, as usual. They can ignore their duty and not thoroughly investigate and document for the American people the blatant and systematic voter fraud that happened in 2020. Or they can for once act like the leaders of a free people.
Normally I’d say the chance of them doing the right thing was zero. But things are significantly different this time. Donald Trump refuses to let sleeping dogs lie. He continues to rally the people to support efforts to investigate the 2020 election. He continues to call out the RINO’s like Liz Cheney who support Democrat lies like the “Insurrection.” And some of the state leaders are making the right noises too. They are attempting to safeguard their election processes.
Putting all this together I’d say we’re at about a fifty percent chance of something good coming out of the present situation. Admittedly that’s not a glowing prospect but compared to how things have gone for most of my life, it’s a reason to hope.
The polls actually give us good information for the first time in decades. The people are pissed off. Now it will take the politicians to get their act together. Let’s pray that some actual leaders will emerge and use the opportunity.
Valentine’s Day 2022
February 14th is Valentine’s Day and being incredibly romantic I reminded Camera Girl of this important holiday. I asked if she would make a heart out of red construction paper for me to signify her undying love. She made rude noises. Luckily I can decode that as good natured fun.
Now being of the generation of which I am, my ideas about love and Valentine’s Day are inextricably intertwined with what I learned watching the Little Rascals. Alfalfa, that star-crossed Lothario was endlessly frustrated in the pursuit of Darla, that femme fatale of the pre-adolescent set. In the Valentine’s Day episode his pursuit of Darla is foiled by the machinations of Spanky. Apparently Alfalfa was an officer of the He-Man Woman Hater’s Club (a noble fellowship if there ever was one) and because of his oath breaking over Darla Spanky punished Alfalfa by replacing the swiss cheese with soap in the Valentine’s Day sandwich that Darla had made for Alfalfa.
And that lesson has been with me for almost sixty years, trust but verify. I always check cheese in a sandwich before eating. Happy Valentine’s Day.

OCF. I’ve watched Dr. Malone’s and Dr. McCullough’s interviews with Joe Rogan and found both of them very convincing and, despite both of them having gotten the jab, it made me regret getting it. I’ve looked at the VAER’s data (which I knew about from back in the late 90’s after having a severe reaction to a Tetanus shot of all things) and the data isn’t looking good for the jabs. I’ve been digging more and more into this and I think it’s high time for me to start posting/blogging about this on OCF. You might have seen some of the testimony at Sen. Ron Johnson’s rountable with McCullough and Military human rights attorney Thomas Renz. There is a major cover up going on with DoD data. The press love Military whistleblowers like that hack Lt.Col. Vindman as long as they can use these hacks to attempt to destroy President Trump but, when high ranking Military officers come forward to expose what is happening with DoD data on Covid, suddenly they aren’t interested. Give me a covid corner on OCF and your traffic hits will explode. Guaranteed.
Pissed Off Canadians
Over at Larry Correia’s site there was a post on the Trucker’s Protest on the Windsor Bridge crossing. Anyway in the comments a Canadian calling himself “The Phantom” had some very interesting comments about the popularity of the protest with the regular Canadians:
“Second, I live almost 2 hours from Toronto and 6 hours from Ottawa, out in the sticks down by Lake Erie. It is farm country, there’s nothing going on around here. Cows and snowbanks right now. So, the fun part is that every time I leave the house to go to the store or what have you, there are Freedom Convoy signs and Canadian flags on random pickup trucks. People have been lining up hay bales in their fields next to the road and painting them with slogans. Idle tractors sitting in driveways have a Canadian flag tied to a hockey stick flying on them. There was a big John Deere parked at the Tim Horton’s in Cayuga on Hwy 3 the other day with a Freedom Convoy sign and a flag.
It’s not just the truckers now. The government has been pissing off the Normies for two years now, and the dam finally broke. Present situation today is that roughly everything you see on Canadian media is a lie, and the crowds of protesters are the regular Jane and Joe Canadian who are tired of lockdowns, masks and vaccine mandates. They’ve had it, and they’re starting to look at how they want to piss off the government today.”
Maybe the Canadians will make some changes in their government.
We Don’t Get Fooled Again
Here’s a link to a post over at Mogadishu Matt. There’s a video clip that analyzes the type of hero worship that is exhibited in the movie Fight Club and that ties in with Matt’s post. And there are some interesting comments below the post.
Matt talks about some very real problems that we have all experienced trying to find leaders to work for us against the Left. I had that experience with George W. Bush. He wasn’t who he claimed to be. But why didn’t I see that. Maybe because he was the only choice available. We were spoon fed that choice. We were desperate for a leader who was on our side. When we get a chance to pick a leader in three years will we do better this time? I think so, I hope so, but I don’t know so. I hope we don’t get fooled again.
13FEB2022 – OCF Update – Return of Winter and the Mallards
So, instead of an inch of snow as promised, we’re getting six inches. Yay! But at least the mallards have returned from Capistrano. For a number of years (at least 3 or 4, maybe more) a pair of mallards show up every late winter/spring and raise a family. I tried to get their portraits this morning but they were shy and swam off. Above is a picture from a couple of years ago.
Snow removal will be a part of the daily chores today and tomorrow morning. Yay!
I noticed Leftists are jumping on the anti-mandate bandwagon. That’s how you know it’s over. The big line is, “It’s not left vs. right, man, it’s about freedom and that’s groovy, baby.” It won’t be long before Joe Biden will be trumpeting his courageous victory over COVID and the return of freedom. These people make me sick.
I saw an article where Pfizer is starting to prepare stockholders for the fallout from vaccine safety failures. They’re going to have to explain how they let dangerous drugs be pushed on children. And Dementia Joe will too. With any luck Fauci and those at FDA left holding the bag will be fired. Prison would be more fitting.
Canada has indeed been red-pilled. Trudeau will be voted out at the next opportunity and I’m guessing it will be sooner than later. How that changes thing in that country is difficult to say. They have even more sheep than we do, hard as that is to believe. They’ll probably just fall right back into old patterns. Maybe we will too. But maybe not all places. The happenings of the last fifteen years may finally be enough to spark a permanent revolt in some areas of the country. That’s my hope.
