In Praise of the Free Americans

Back at the beginning of February some clueless loser writing for the LA Times named Virginia Heffernan wrote a screed about her non-Leftist neighbor next to her vacation home that plowed the driveway as a neighborly act of kindness.  Reading the pathetic justification for her lack of gratitude over this act of kindness is painful.  Putting aside the lack of self-awareness showcased, what it brought home for me was the fact that our side is full of good people and their side is composed of feckless petulant children.

But this time I think I’ll ignore the Leftist miscreants and concentrate on the good people for once.  When I first moved out of the city into the suburban and rural areas, I was the newb trying to figure out how to negotiate the endless snow of winter.  Kids had to get to school, I had to get to work and just shoveling it eventually was going to run against the physics of piling too much snow in too little space.  And it was always the blue-collar guys who didn’t have the nicest car or whose kids didn’t have all the latest gadgets and toys who lent a hand or gave advice or volunteered to bring your kid somewhere when you were stuck in a ditch.

Luckily for me I liked those kinds of people.  They adopted me and taught me all kinds of work arounds and entertaining things that could be done on short funds.  Like ice fishing or where the best camping grounds were or the best cheap seats at the ball park.  So, if my neighbor plowed out my driveway, I didn’t write a snarky letter to the local newspaper justifying why I shouldn’t (and wouldn’t) thank him.  I immediately did thank him and asked if I could do anything to return the favor and Camera Girl would bake him a pie or some cookies the next day.

Like anything else there are no absolute correlations between political stripe and virtue.  I’ve had deep blue neighbors who were good neighborly people and I’ve known a few folks on our side of the aisle that I wish were behind bars.  But by and large our people are friendlier, more helpful and just plain more decent than the characters on the other side.  If I have to live next door to, or be on a school committee with, or have my kids on a sports activity with either conservative folks or liberals, I’d choose the conservatives every time and I’d be right 98% of the time.

So here you have all these good people.  And there you have all those creeps.  And the powers that be rig the game to punish all these good people and reward all those creeps.  It doesn’t take a genius to know that we have to get organized and find a way out of this trap.    We have to organize to protect ourselves from the people who are trying to do us in.  Somebody like DeSantis might be part of the solution.  Maybe Noem in South Dakota is.  And maybe the next step is these kinds of people getting together and figuring out a larger strategy.

But my point in this whole thing is this.  We can’t let these good people be destroyed.  That’s not just a crime against humanity it’s a sin in the eyes of God.  These are the best people on the planet and they are being treated like criminals, like garbage and it’s got to stop.  If we can’t find a part of this country where we can live in peace then we should form a giant migration and get the hell out.  Maybe we can buy a section of Siberia or Australia for a trillion or two dollars’ worth of gold and move there together.  Anything is better than letting these vampires finish off our kids.  That’s my take.

25FEB2021 – OCF Update

Yesterday I cranked out a few thousand words to a story I’m working on and it felt great!  Nothing but positive energy.  Writing about something with no relation to Leftists or Wokeness was absolutely rejuvenating.  So I’m going to start writing a little fiction everyday.

Spring is starting to make some headway here at the compound.  I actually left the snow on the lower driveway this last snowfall and it’s melting sloppily on its own.  This is big.  By the end of February my back is usually pretty beat up.  And because of this I’ve been very slow to ramp up my use of the rower but with the specter of snow removal slowly receding in to the rear view mirror I will start building up on the rowing.

One of the negative effects of the spring season is the reappearance of the black bears in the area.  Last year they flattened Camera Girl’s beloved bird feeding pole.

This year she has vowed to pre-emptively take in the feeders when the local animal control warnings go out.  We shall see.

And at long last the replacement part for Camera Girl’s beloved dishwasher has arrived from Wuhan, China. It took three months for the part to arrive.  Something about interruptions at the factory.  Whatever.  There is much rejoicing and  the repairman will be declared a Hero of the Motherland and our next dog is sure to be named after him.

So as you can see my mood is ebullient and even the prospect of Dementia Joe declaring another fatwa against me and mine just isn’t getting the job done today.  Pretty soon the crocuses will be crocussing and the daffodils will be doing whatever daffodils do and I can get out with my beloved Sony A7 III and my beloved Sony 90mm F/2.8 macro lens and all will be right with the world.

The Ethical Basis for Our Cause is Clear.  Do We Have the Courage?

Back 250 years ago the Founding Fathers laid out in the Declaration of Independence why they were casting off their allegiance to King George of England.   I could copy the whole thing here but that’s unnecessary.  What is interesting is to see just how many of the complaints have analogs in our present situation.  Let’s start with the first cause, the first paragraph.

  • We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
    1. So, we believe that all men are equal. Our opponents believe that people must be treated differently based on the color of their skin.
    2. We enshrined these unalienable rights in the Bill of Rights. Our opponents trample on those rights without regret.
  • That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, –That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.
    1. It says that power is derived from the consent of the governed. When elections are fraudulently held there can be no talk of consent.
    2. And it says when government becomes destructive of these rights, it is the Right of the People to alter or abolish it. That seems very clear.
  • But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.
    1. This one exists now verbatim.

Okay that’s enough.  Only a fool can ignore the fact that we are in the same moral situation that the Founding Fathers were with Great Britain.  The only difference is one of will.  The colonists were brave and daring men who were used to fighting wars against other Europeans and the Indian tribes.  We have become accustomed to luxury and ease.  The wars we fight are fought by a small group of volunteers.  And the majority of American citizens are women, something that was unheard of during the Revolutionary War.  And women tend to be uneasy about confrontation and violence.

So that’s where we are.  When this country was young the men living here wouldn’t allow themselves to be bullied by tyrants.  Today the women and the men who emulate them are too cowed to so much as defend themselves when the government sponsored mobs burn down their businesses and assault them in the street of their major cities.  They’re even afraid to demand that the teachers that they pay to teach their children either do it or stop getting paid.  Hell, they’re too scared to even go to Thanksgiving dinner with their families for fear of being ratted out to the police by Karen next door.

Really the only question is how long will it take to find out if we truly are just slaves of the Left.  Here’s a fair test.  If you can’t get together with your family on the Fourth of July then just take your flag down and reverently burn it.  The country will be officially dead.  At that point look for a better place to live.

What to Do About the Deep State?

With the Democrats preparing to install Merrick Garland as the consigliere for the Biden Crime Family it seems an appropriate time to consider exactly what kind of people make up the ranks of the managerial apparatus that runs our government.  It is instructive to see how the Justice Department functioned under the Obama regime and compare it to how it attacked the Trump Administration throughout that whole presidency.

During the time Obama was president his Attorney General was able to direct the policy of agencies like the FBI to attack police departments that attempted to prosecute minority offenders such as Michael Brown in Ferguson, MO regardless of the guilt of the criminals involved.  They were also glad to lend a hand in trying to criminalize self-defense as was the case with the Treyvon Martin case in Florida.  What seems clear is that Obama’s AG, Eric Holder, had no difficulty directing the agencies working under him to harass people Obama didn’t like and put their thumb on the scale to help even criminals if they were the right color.  And even when Obama’s term was almost completely finished the Justice Department was more than willing to begin an unjustified and traitorous witch hunt to hamstring the Trump Administration and delay the President’s ability to take control of the Justice Department.  I will add that the spineless behavior of Jeff Sessions went a long way to aiding and abetting the treachery going on in then Swamp by recusing himself from the investigation.  But it certainly didn’t look like they weren’t completely prepared to defy any and all attempts to stop them in their actions.

When the phony Russiagate investigation was finally completed Trump was able to bring in Bill Barr as his Attorney General.  And from everything I can tell in retrospective Barr is a full-fledged member of the Deep State.  His investigation of the Russiagate hoax never went anywhere.  One very low-level flunky who was identified as having perjured himself was given a slap on the wrist and returned to the fold.  The infamous Durham investigation has produced no indictments and empaneled no grand juries.  And based on what Garland has said at his Senate hearing he doesn’t guarantee that any report will ever appear at all.  From as much as we could gather from news reports, during the President Trump’s whole term in office the Justice Department, the intelligence agencies and the State Department defied his demands for action on almost all of his policy initiatives that involved reining in the Deep State.  Even when he directed classified documents to be declassified and released to the public nothing ever happened.  And once the travesty of the stolen elections unfolded the Justice Department under Bill Barr did nothing.

How I read this is that these government agencies see themselves as essentially beyond the control of the President of the United States and unless they agree with his agenda, they will use any and all means at their disposal to hamper his actions and avoid control by him.

Going back to when George W Bush was president, I can remember that the Justice Department also came after some of his personnel and used a special prosecutor to harass his Assistant to the Vice President for National Security Affairs, Scooter Libby for years.  Based on this I have to imagine that these agencies are closely aligned with the world view of the progressive left.  As to the question of whether this alignment is ideological or pragmatic, I would guess it varies but probably sometimes it is both.

With the apparatus of the Executive Branch so firmly in the hands of people who refuse to cede power and authority to even the President of the United States it seems to me that if someone wanted to correct this situation it would require drastic measures.  I could imagine an Attorney General firing all of the bureau heads and the first few levels of reports to those bureau heads and then attempting to sort through the lower echelons to find employees who would be willing to follow orders.  But, if I were he, I’d bring some armed military personnel along with me to watch my back.

Of course, talking about cleaning up the Deep State may be a completely moot discussion.  I am not sure there will ever be another Republican president.  With the techniques used to fake the 2020 election it seems clear that the Democrats intend to falsify any election outcome that does not show them to have won.  Then the only avenue that can be explored is the idea of a state forbidding the Deep State from interfering in its sovereign affairs.  And that is a point of view that hasn’t been explored in over a hundred and fifty years.

What Will President Trump Say Next Sunday?

On Sunday February 28th 2021 at 3:40 pm on the last day of CPAC, Donald Trump will make his first major public speech since the January 6th rally in Washington D.C. that the Left used as an excuse for his post-term impeachment and the militarization of Capitol Hill into something resembling the Berlin Wall.

I’ve been waiting impatiently for this speech for weeks.  I guess if I had been more thoughtful, I would have acknowledged that it was necessary to let the impeachment process and the fallout from all of the dozens of Biden regime executive orders settle first before there would be space in the public eye for a major statement by Donald Trump.

So, in less than a week the only man in generations who was both willing and able to do something significant to improve the lives of normal Americans will have the chance to tell us if he has a plan for the future.  I won’t lie and say I’m not anxious that he may decide to pass the torch to the next generation.  After all he is already 74 years old and by 2024, he’ll be 78.  That’s a lot to expect from a man.

But what I’m hoping he will say is that he wants to build a political and commercial foundation for us.  He has some means and he knows other wealthy and powerful men who if they have the ambition and foresight can put together a corporation that supports many different populist and conservative needs.

My ideas for this are very overblown.  I envision a corporation that provides unassailable access for conservatives to services that currently are at the whim of progressive attack.  People who have done nothing more dangerous than question the progressive dictates on sexual and racial pieties have had their internet businesses shut down or shadow banned.  They have been hounded out of their jobs, denied service by banks and payment processors and even arrested by local and federal law enforcement based on selective enforcement of laws that often are completely unconstitutional.

So, you can see, I’ll probably be at least somewhat let down no matter what is said.  I feel that at this point it is going to take men of extraordinary vision to take back this country without an actual civil war.  An enormous amount of coordination and the willingness to build corporate structures and commercial institutions at great financial risk doesn’t seem probable.  But either those things must happen or one of two things will.  Either a demagogue will step in and things will go in a different and much darker direction, or the normal people of this country will finally give up and the progressives will turn this into a totalitarian woke state right out of 1984.  And I really don’t want either of those options.

But even if President Trump only gives us a tiny part of a plan for our future it will be the first tiny patch of good news we’ve had in months.  I’m looking forward to it with great expectation.  I would even like it if he reflected on the RINO’s that stabbed him in the back and also pointed to the current flock of conservative leaders and anointed a few of them as the men who will have to carry the ball after his time has passed.

And finally, this speech is the chance for the acknowledged leader of conservative America to address his people specifically.  At CPAC the audience isn’t all of America.  It’s specifically conservative America and Donald Trump is currently the undisputed leader of that tribe.  We voted for him in prodigious numbers.  Recent surveys show we would abandon the Republican Party if he started a Patriot Party of his own and we’re looking to him to show us a path forward into a future that doesn’t leave us at the mercy of the progressive left.  I hope he has something good for us to hear.

Free America –21FEB2021 Update

As we settle into the new totalitarian regime the sense of outrage dulls and each new atrocity becomes less shocking because it’s already expected.  Biden is telling the Democrat Congress he wants a bill that gives the illegals an eight-year path to citizenship.  Then he wants to have D.C. and Puerto Rico declared states.  Soon he’ll demand slavery reparations.  And after that he’ll want to balance the books by cancelling the 401K and social security accounts of anyone who isn’t black.  Well, sure.  Are we expecting anything less?  They’ve telegraphed this stuff for years.  With full control of the Congress and White House the only check on their plans is the Supreme Court and I think we know how that will play out.  Even gun grabs and hate speech legislation are on the agenda and now it sounds like they intend to use the FBI as the secret police and arrest people they don’t like by calling them insurrectionists.  Good times.

During a get together with some friends we were talking about that teacher in New York City who was fired. Apparently at some kind of group session where people were supposed to talk about personal struggles she tried to talk about her grandparents and their loss of a child during the Holocaust.  She was shut down because they let her know the only ones allowed to talk about problems are black and brown people.  Then to top it off when they were taking a group picture, she wouldn’t give the Wakanda Salute (put her arms in front of her in the shape of an X).  Apparently, this is a gesture used in the Marvel Comics movie Black Panther.  I think she felt it was silly or divisive.  So, they fired her.  I think she had been given an award recently for figuring out a way to improve math test scores in her school.

We were discussing the fact that people are leaving New York in epidemic numbers to get their kids out of the public school system.  And obviously with the story about the teacher just mentioned it isn’t hard to imagine that in a very few years they will have driven all the good teachers and most families that care about educating their kids, right out of the system.  We debated whether this would have any effect on the city government.  I think the opinion was it wouldn’t.  At least not until the system crashed and burned beyond repair.  And that is a truly amazing result.  New York City is estimated to have eight million people living in it.  Now, that was before the disruptions from COVID and BLM.  If someone told me it had lost a million people, I wouldn’t be surprised at all.  But even if there were only six million people living there, I find it shocking to imagine what will happen to the productivity and general behavior of the inhabitants if the school system becomes like what they have in Detroit or Baltimore.  That level of illiteracy and dysfunction in a place as hard to keep running as New York will be truly frightening.  I wouldn’t be surprised if whole industries just up and move out overnight.  Wall Street, the banks, the insurance companies, the advertising companies, even the fashion industry can, and probably will, leave when the city starts becoming like Detroit.  As it is the lawlessness of the BLM riots has destroyed the retail stores in uptown and midtown.  It’s actually hard to imagine things improving without some serious incentives by the state and federal government.

One of the guys was saying that communities as far away as Florida were seeing school enrollments skyrocketing with New York emigres looking to find schools where their kids would get a decent education.  I imagine a similar thing will be going on in other cities similarly affected.  Certainly, Minneapolis is experiencing a crime epidemic and I’m sure the parents there are looking for a way to escape.  Chicago also sounds like it is melting down.  So, the good times are just flowing in Dementia Joe’s America.  It’s at least a small comfort that the states that voted overwhelmingly for Biden are taking it on the chin big time.  And with the political fall out that the governors of New York and California are suffering lately it is a little less painful to see what the communists are doing to the Former United States.

But here in Free America we don’t give the Wakanda Salute.  We don’t watch sports games where people disrespect the National Anthem of Free America.  We don’t tell our children that they should be ashamed because their skin happens to be fair.  We don’t let teachers fool them about who they are and what is right and wrong.  And our pronouns don’t need to be asked.  They’re self-evident.

Then the get together devolved into an argument about deciding who were the hottest women on television back in the day.  The final match up was between Wrangler Jane on F Troop and Barbara Eden on I Dream of Jeannie.  Well, that should be obvious.

Hillbilly Elegy by J. D. Vance – A Book Review

Several places where I read on-line had praised Vance’s book so I decided to read it.  I already knew basically what it was about but I guess I wanted to see what all the excitement was about.

J. D. Vance’s family came originally from Appalachia, specifically Jackson Kentucky. His maternal grandfather and grandmother moved to Middletown Ohio after WW II to let him get work in the steel factory there and his family became part of the boom economy in the industrial Mid-West that followed the war. But as that economic expansion slowly collapsed into the Rust Belt reality of the 1970s and beyond, his family more and more shared in the dislocation and finally the hopelessness of life in that blighted region.

Through the personal history of his family he presents evidence and draws conclusions about what internal and external factors led to the train wreck that is the Rust Belt.  And he tries to back up this evidence by including general information on the socio-economic and cultural characteristics of the white working class and specifically Appalachian people in question.

The personal story of his family and the details of their lives is poignant and honest and draws sympathy from anyone who came from a family that is full of complicated people who struggle and succeed and fail and generally make a messy story to tell.  It’s about the love and hate and anger and fear and confusion that consumed the first decade and a half of his life.  It’s got colorful characters like his grandparents who swear and spit and brandish guns and break down doors if strangers seem to threaten their family.  It’s his mother who tried to find a middle-class identity for her small family but was too damaged to even save herself from drugs and broken marriages.

In the final analysis I think that the point the book tries to make is that the people who left Appalachia were so ill-suited to live in the modern world of nuclear families and suburban society that only the post-war boom allowed even the illusion that they had assimilated into the Mid-Western lifestyle.  Their people were shorn of the support that multi-generational family units provided to them back in the hills and were surrounded by people who had been raised in and could take of advantage of the community resources that exist in middle America.  Vance’s family was always suspicious and angry at the school system and the police and the other government entities that could provide assistance to people in need.  Their independence when stripped of the extended family support structure meant isolation and poverty and an endless string of failures that reinforced the sense of hopelessness that eventually led to drug addiction and despair.

I think it’s a pretty interesting story.  And I recognize the components that he brings up as existing in the real world.  But he does let the powers that be off the hook to a degree that I think is unrealistic.  The post-war boom was a result of government policy that encouraged the harnessing of the human capital that had been freed up by the end of World War II.  Tens of millions of enlisted men were brought back to this country and it had been so thoroughly transformed that only massive top-down control allowed for the re-integration.  Thirty years later there was no similar top-down planning to continue that existence once the earlier generation disappeared from the work place.  The corporations were allowed to shift into a globalist mindset and because those Rust Belt workers were inconvenient because they made too much money or weren’t desperate enough to work like Japanese or Chinese workers they were dismissed from the plans of industry.

Vance may slightly touch on this but his thesis is that personal responsibility and family support systems are what saved him.  When his mother’s chaotic lifestyle came close to destroying his chance at building a healthy life his grandmother stepped up and provided a stable and supportive home in which he was able to re-apply himself at school and finally prove to himself that it was possible for him escape from the cycle of failure and break through to the normal world.

Okay.  His emphasis makes sense based on his experience and world view.  I think there is another side to the present crisis and he somewhat touches on this too.  Some say he is blaming the victims.  I think that overstates it.  I think it’s an interesting book.  I know it made me reconsider some things in my past.  And the anecdotes about his grandparents and that generation of his family are fun to read.  His family is somewhat in volved in the Hatfield and McCoy feud interestingly enough.  I’m not sure that this book is for everyone but if you are interested in the dynamic that has laid waste to the Rust Belt it might be something for you to read.

An Open Letter to the Leaders on the Right

To: Former President Donald J. Trump, Senator Josh Hawley, Senator Ted Cruz, Senator Rand Paul, Senator Tom Cotton, Governor Ron DeSantis, Governor Kristi Noem, Mr. Mike Pompeo, Mr. Donald Trump Jr., Mr. Tucker Carlson

 

I am writing this open letter to you powerful and hopefully conservative leaders in the hope that somehow it will find its way to you in the real world.  I am not sure that all of you really are on our side and I’m also sure that I’ve left out many conservative leaders that are out there.  But if this message gets through to any of you and you actually find my message important then you have more chance of spreading this information to the rest of the conservative leaders than I do.

And my message is that unless you all organize some kind of effective message to the conservative people of this country very soon it will be too late.  And that’s not hyperbole.  The Left is torturing us in every facet of our existence.

They torture us at work with their various trainings.  We get sensitivity training for racial identity, sexual identity, gender identity.  We get lectured on equity which is just another name for anti-white discrimination.  Now we even get safety training to rat out our friends who say the “wrong” things.

They torture us if we try to watch entertainment.  We have to have overpaid steroid users kneeling during the national anthem while the airheaded “sports analysts” tell us how brave they are to do it.  Every movie and every tv show and even every commercial trumpets the BLM mantra that America is an abomination saturated with systemic racism.  The stupidest people in the world, actors and actresses, line up to preach to us about how evil we are.  They’ve even invented a name for it, white privilege.

They torture our children in every school from nursery school all the way through graduate school.  And if they don’t toe the line, they won’t get to use their hyper-expensive degrees.  They turn them against their parents and ancestors and make them hate the very civilization that created the world that provides all the advantages that everybody takes for granted.

They torture us on-line where they harass and de-platform normal people who want to communicate with the rest of the world.  They will not only de-platform you but they will pressure banks and payment processors to boycott your business.  They’ll even contact your employer and get you fired from your job.  And Silicon Valley acts as a giant echo chamber that gaslights us and even worse, silences us in their search engines and advertising algorithms.

They torture us by making and selectively enforcing laws against us.  They’ll celebrate the rioting and murder committed by BLM and Antifa but they’ll prosecute to absurd levels anything that is done by the Right.  Now they are ramping up their surveillance and prosecution campaign using the bogeyman of “white supremacist terror.”  They punish free speech and they are attempting to invalidate the second amendment by criminalizing guns.

They torture us by encouraging illegal immigration and by exporting all our jobs.  And now Silicon Valley has finished the job by killing the retail businesses with Amazon.  I won’t even bother to discuss COVID and the horrors they’ve inflicted on us for that.

They’ve made our lives hell but other than President Trump’s term in office you’ve all done nothing.  In the last four years there was a glimmer of hope.  That’s been extinguished.  And most real conservatives living in blue states are close to giving up permanently.  I have many friends who were outspoken champions of the Right but after the 2020 election and its aftermath have told me they don’t think there is anyone on the Right that has any fight in them at all.  If you tell them that we must form a resistance they say, “Leave me alone, don’t waste my time, let me go and enjoy my life as well as I can.”  So, if you hope to do something about taking back this country from the Left you all better sit down together in one room and put together an action plan that includes more than talk.

You want to be the leaders of the Right, so lead!   You had better put together a party or corporation to rally the conservatives.  It can’t be the Republican party because they are useless.  Their “big tent” includes squishes like McConnell and Cheney and countless others who wouldn’t know a conservative principle if it walked up to them and punched them in the nose.  And I’m not asking all the Republicans to leave the party.  It’s irrelevant.  We need an organization that’s just for social conservatives, people who believe in the Bill of Rights, who believe in God and country.  A good test is anyone who thinks that the BLM riots were justified doesn’t belong in this group.

Put together an organization and come up with some goals.  Speak to us tell us what you plan to do.  Give us hope.  Give us something to buy into and support that isn’t just us funding your stupid re-election funds!  Build something that we can benefit from.  Find some billionaires on our side and have them build some platforms for us.  Have our own Facebook, our own PayPal and while you’re at it have them open our own bank.  You could get 75,000,000 customers and who knows one day you might have your own Google, YouTube and Amazon also.  Buy a bunch of expensive lawyers and start suing our enemies in every court in the land.  Sue Google, Facebook, Twitter, PayPal and all the banks and other corporations that have been de-platforming and firing people for absolutely no legal reason at all.

And I’m no business genius.  I am aware that it takes business savvy and experience to do this.  But if there is no one on our side smart enough to figure out how to monetize 75,000,000 angry consumers then we deserve to lose.  Give these people a way to channel their anger and they will be glad to pay a little bit to have an organization of their own.

But you had better do it soon.  People can’t hold out forever.  They need hope and they want something to believe in.  Come up with a plan and put it in front of the Right and they will follow you.  Dawdle around and there won’t be anything left.  If you are leaders then lead.  If you’re not then just put out a statement that there is no hope and you’re outmatched.  Then we can decide how to make the best of our lives somewhere else.

Rush Limbaugh – Dead at Age 70 – Rest in Peace

I wasn’t a regular listener but Rush was a conservative institution and he believed in the things we believe in.  Rest in peace.

And I just learned about an hour ago that my hero Rush Limbaugh passed away from his lung cancer. A legend in talk radio. He invented conservative talk. 30+ years I listened to his voice of reason. 20+ years of daily podcasts on my commute. I learned a great deal from him. When I first heard his voice during the gulf war I thought to myself, who is this guy who is saying everything that I think? I was hooked from that point forward. Read his books. Watched his brief TV show. Enjoyed his humor and satire. But most of hall, I enjoyed listening to the truth as he dispensed his common sense wisdom to tens of millions of listeners every weekday. I always felt like I knew him.
