Vox has always seen Trump’s ability but always said saving America was a long shot. But even he sounds a little hopeful.

I like his final analogy of a supersaturated solution crashing out. Must be the nerd in me.
“All that said, it seems that a society can tolerate only so large a gap between reality and its official truth. Whether or not we are reaching some sort of breaking point is probably impossible to know. A year ago, no one imagined the North Koreans offering to make peace. Before the collapse of the Soviet Union, no one saw it coming. Maybe people just get used to the disconnect until one day, the number of people who notice it reaches a critical mass. Then like a precipitate falling out of solution, the whole things collapses.”
Camera Girl and I hosted some friends last weekend that we haven’t seen in almost thirty years. Suffice it to say we had a lot of catching up. Kids, grandkids, deaths, relocations, you name it. And we definitely ate too much and stayed up too late. So, I sort of lost rack of events. I knew the G7 was going on and I read that the North Korean summit was coming up but I didn’t really pay much attention to the actual dates.
I come to find out that the G7 is over and the North Korea summit is coming up. So, I watched a clip on CTH https://youtu.be/WC0qDoAE2H4 of the President’s press conference after the G7 and in anticipation of the summit. Man, this guy is so much fun. He just bats these idiots in the press around like they’re punching bags. I love the bravado and the shots he takes at his enemies and the pounding away at the message, “the era of taking advantage of the United States through tariffs is over.”
And when one reporter asks him a loaded question, Trump shoots back, “Who do you work for?” When the reporter admits CNN, Trump smirks and says “Knew it, fake news.”
So, this week we have G7 results, North Korea summit and the report from the DOJ Inspector General. The G7 was an example of pygmies posturing around a giant and not doing a very convincing job of it. Trudeau from Canada made noises as if he were going to put Trump in his place. But instead Trudeau just looked like a three-year-old holding his breath hoping to get his way. With respect to North Korea, Trump was honest and said it was slightly better than fifty-fifty as to outcome. But he seems fine in the knowledge and stresses that just making the effort is a worthwhile thing. Personally, I have no illusions about the reliability of Kim. But I definitely think something positive may develop simply because Trump likes to stir the pot and see what develops. It makes me hopeful that he may interject himself personally into other areas of foreign affairs.
But the elephant in the room is the IG’s report. At this point expectations have gotten so high that it’s almost inevitable that it will be a let-down. Let’s face it, anything short of McCabe pointing the finger at Loretta Lynch will feel like the opener rather than the headliner. I mean let’s face it, unless someone pretty big is facing a decade in prison he isn’t going to spill his guts on his bosses. And make no mistake that’s the only thing short of firing that will put Mueller out of business. I think the report is fifty-fifty. It could be dynamite, it could be a nothing burger. If no one is getting arrested (or at least indicted) I’ll consider it a huge disappointment and a major setback for the President’s agenda.
But just to reiterate, watching a President Trump speech or news conference is incredibly entertaining and encouraging. I’ve said a million times, what we really need is for Trump to name a successor (not Pence) before the end of his term. If we could bottle what he’s got it would make it possible to turn the table on these awful leftists and their endless onslaught against normalcy.
Another stupid week? Doesn’t he know that he’s not only an Inspector but he’s also a General and it’s the job of a General to by gosh get it done!!!! If this is how Horowitz runs his show I expect there will be clowns in the clown car. These people are going to drive me to devil worship. At least the devil keeps his promises. Wait a minute, does he?
Anyway keep your powder dry and these doofuses will get it right eventually. Sheesh.
IG Release Date Set for June 14th – First IG Hearing June 18th…
On a more local note I’ve been intrigued by the general dearth of comments. Now this is my first blog so maybe it’s how it works but I’m curious, so I have a survey poll on it. I’ll leave it on the next few posts and I look forward to the info I get.

The summer is now an actual thing and get-togethers and parties are happening. But things will continue unabated here on OCF, the pulse of the spite filled, unforgiving, vindictive vengeful right. I’m starting to read David Reich’s book “Who We Are and How We Got Here: Ancient DNA and the New Science of the Human Past.” It goes over a lot of the same ground as Gregory Cochran’s book “The 10,000 Year Explosion: How Civilization Accelerated Human Evolution,” but from a very apologetic, politically correct, “diversity is our strength” point of view. But from of the small parts I’ve read it’s still very interesting to see the pushback he experienced. Should be instructive. I’ve got the last Majipoor book to read and the next Galaxy’s edge installment and some other sf and I’ve got some photo projects lined up. But the elephant in the room should be the DOJ IG’s report coming out this week. I’m hoping that will trigger a lot of stuff. Maybe even the end of the Mueller investigation or at least a counter-attack to take him out. So good stuff coming up.

How the mighty have fallen. When the big reveal came in the Last Jedi and we found out that the Force is just estrogen for a lot of fans it must have felt like that scene in Christmas Story where Ralphie is feverishly decoding a secret message and finds out the the secret is a commercial for Ovaltine. Screw them.
Let the Schadenfreude flow. Embrace the Dark Side of the Force which must therefore be testosterone! Who knew?

Galaxy’s Edge – Galactic Outlaws – A Science Fiction Book Review
Kill Team is the third installment of the Galaxy’s Edge science fiction series. But chronologically it occurs immediately after the end of Legionnaire, the first volume in the series. Kill Team is a two track story. One track tells the story of the surviving members of Legion Company Victory after the Battle of Kublar and how they become re-integrated into the task force attempting to prevent a decapitation attack meant to topple the Republic. The other track is a spy story following an undercover agent working to prevent the same attack.
The story is well told. But for my tastes the adventures of the Legionnaires is more engaging. The morally ambiguous role of the spy and the way that the writer portrays his internal conflict isn’t as much fun as the mil-sf adventures of Victory Company.
The story line serves to provide back story to some characters that first appeared in Galactic Outlaws, volume two of the series. And this was, in my opinion necessary. Quite a big gap existed between the story lines in Legionnaire and Galactic Outlaws. Kill Team makes sense of some of the dramatic changes in the intervening period.
My verdict for Kill Team is positive. Although, as I said I enjoyed the Victory Company track more than the spy track the story holds up well and builds on the strong characters that made Legionnaire so enjoyable. Kudos to Anspach and Cole. They’ve extended their winning streak and I’ll go for the fourth volume. I want to see just how bleak their empire crashing vision will be.
Galaxy’s Edge (Volume 4) – Attack of Shadows – A Science Fiction Book Review
I was figuring it would be him. But this might just be a sad attempt to escape without saying anything substantive. To be continued.
Fired FBI Director Andrew McCabe Requests Criminal Immunity in exchange for Congressional Testimony…
Sundance at the CTH says the amount of false information circulating makes it worthwhile to see what the IG’s report actually says.
Here’s his quote.
“The Inspector General report on the FBI and DOJ action in the Clinton investigation is due out this week. In my humble opinion it is best to wait and see what discoveries are within the fact-centric report, and the confirmed underlying evidence, before wandering out into the speculative land of mirrored rabbit holes.”
Probably good advice.
Professor Codevilla must be reading my Trump vs … parodies. But I like it and endorse President Trump to at least put the first item into action. Just don’t wait until Labor Day. Do it now.
