20AUG2021 – OCF Update – Hurricane Henri Takes a Bead on Us

As usual, the Weather Service has decided to mess with me.  Instead of heading for Nova Scotia this crummy hurricane with a Frenchman’s name is going to annoy me this Sunday.  I think it’s going to be 85 mph and they are talking about 3-5 inches of rain.  Sure why not?  We’ve had about twenty inches of rain so far this summer.  Why not five more?  The local government is talking about it like it’s the apocalypse and as usual everyone is loading up on toilet paper and canned food.  My generator is good for about a week of running so I guess if all the wires go down we’ll have power but it may interfere with my internet access so that would stink.  Ah well.

 

 

 

Sounds Like the Sharks Smell Blood in the Water

Even the Dems seem to have decided that Dementia Joe is in big trouble.  I think it’s still too early to decide whether the Afghanistan withdrawal will be an embarrassing disgrace or a full-on horror show.  There are indications that the Americans trapped in Kabul may be in danger of ending up as hostages.  If that does happen I wouldn’t be surprised if this thing spins completely out of control and Biden is shipped off to the funny farm.

But if the Taliban decide it’s better for their plans to allow the Americans to leave altogether then this episode will just be one more humiliating example of why having a doddering old wreck of a scoundrel for president is a really bad idea.  You can be really old and be President.  Reagan proved that.  And you can be a lying scumbag and be president.  Bill Clinton proved that.  But a really old lying scumbag is a bridge too far.  It’s too easy to get mixed up among the lies.

Runaway Texas Democrats Return to Legislature and Voting Bill Passed

The “Runaway Texas Dems,” at least some of them, returned to the Texas State House and this allowed the vote on election reform to pass.  Governor Abbott can sign this bill into law soon and put an end to the spectacle of a plane load of Democrats running away to Washington D.C. to prevent the Texas legislature from doing their job.

The representatives who are still on the lam complained bitterly that their comrades betrayed them.  But recently the Texas administration had sworn out arrest warrants for dereliction of duty and was threatening to cut of their pay.  Once again we have proof that Democrats are lawless cretins that should be deported to Kabul at the first opportunity.

Update:

Chemist has chastised me for jumping the gun.  Apparently the return of the Dems hasn’t resulted in the vote being taken on the bill.  Come on Texas, put this one to bed.

Babylon Bee Steps Into the Breach and Reports on Afghanistan

When hard hitting reporting is needed depend on the Babylon Bee to be there.  Here the Bee tells you about the Taliban’s very progressive stance on women’s rights and it follows up on Joe Biden’s efforts to defend the LGBTQ rights of fabulous Afghanis.  Groundbreaking.

Seriously, these guys should have their own show on network tv.  That they don’t is a sign that we are living in a humorless age.  And that network tv is already on its last legs.

19AUG2021 – OCF Update – Peak Silly Season

From now until Labor Day folks will be trying to enjoy the end of summer before their kids have to go back to school.  Of course this year that will be extra painful as parents behind the COVID Curtain will be sending their little ones into masked purgatory.

This is the lowest traffic period for the site and also typically a time when the news cycle is filled up with stories of man-bites-dog type non-events.  Luckily for us this year the Taliban may rescue us from boredom by banning the LGBTQ contingent from indulging in buggery.  This should trigger General Milly-Vanilly to flip out and nuke Kabul.  After that it’s anyone’s guess how the fall season will proceed.

Creepy Uncle Joe is catching a lot of flak from the various sororities around the country for not insisting that the Taliban go trans-gender.  Personally I think Joe did the best he could.  But it does make you wonder what those negotiations between the State Department and the Taliban sounded like.  I’m trying to imagine how equity, diversity and inclusion translates into Pashto.  My guess is that after listening to the DC boys for a few weeks they decided to just make believe they agreed to whatever was said and just go back to stonings, amputations and beheadings as soon as the Americans leave.

It’s funny, twenty years ago was 9-11-2001.  We moved heaven and earth to force the Taliban out of Afghanistan.  But if Al Qaeda invaded New York City today I’d tell them to keep it and run it however they felt.  In fact I think it would be a distinct improvement.  It’s a cinch that crime rates would fall.  If I remember correctly the Taliban outlawed the heroin trade when they were in power.  And they’re pretty tough on crime.  Amputating a thief’s hand definitely gets his attention.  Compare that to the present defelonization of stealing anything less than a thousand dollars in New York and California.  No, I’m convinced, New York needs to import a thousand Taliban to supplement their police department.  Sure the RPG’s will probably cause some complaints in the gangbanger neighborhoods.  Those boys aren’t used to being outgunned.  But I think it will be a real morale booster for the NYPD.  And talk about diversity, those turbans will be the talk of the town.  But I’m afraid Greenwich Village won’t be happy.

So stay tuned.  It may be slow for the next week or two but things will pick up soon enough.  Enjoy the quiet time and the end of summer.

Look For the Good

We’re in a long war.  Our enemies hold all the high ground and we are dispersed and without leaders.  To think that we should fight all the time is wrong.  We need to live.  We resist by living the best life we can.  But because the enemy owns all the ground, we have to dig to find what is still good and healthy to live on.  It takes a lot of effort to find worthwhile books and movies and organizations and activities and people.  But there is no other way forward.  So, make that your business.  Spend the time to find these things and pass them along to others.

That’s a constant part of my time on this site.  I look for news and opinion that’s worth reading.  I look for books and movies that other people might find worthwhile.  I try to share some of my hobby activities that I think are enjoyable.  Don’t dwell on what’s wrong beyond thinking about how to avoid it.  We already think enough about Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi.  If you pay attention to politics and know who is really on your side then you’re doing enough.  It’s not necessary to obsess about the culture war 24/7.  I’m already doing that for you!

What you’ll find is that you have to devote considerable effort to digging through the muck that is the Left’s America.  If you don’t put in the work, you’ll end up either doing nothing or settling for the books and movies that they force on you.  My advice is to put in the effort.  Spend a little time thinking about how to find what you’re looking for.  And break up the work so you don’t spend your life on drudgery.  Make sure that every day has something that nourishes your soul.  Even if it’s just half an hour.  Read something inspirational or funny or intellectually stimulating.  Learn a skill like a musical instrument or a language or a computer language.  Learn to scan poetry or write a short story.  Buy a cheap camera and look for things around you that you never noticed and make an image that pleases your eye.  Spend a day with your kids or grandkids.  Throw a ball around with them.  Teach them something that they should know.  Tell them a story about your father or grandfather or an old family story that they’ve never heard.  Take them to an ice cream stand.  Take them to a minor league ball club, as long as it doesn’t have any anthem kneelers.  Take them to a movie, if you can find one that’s worth seeing or make some popcorn and drag out an old movie that you liked when you were their age.

There are plenty of things left among the rubble of our civilization that you can use to your own purposes.  We still have gas powered cars and usable highways for the most part and we can navigate around the Antifa and BLM thugs for the most part.  If we’re smart and not lazy we can still live our lives very productively and accomplish what we want to.  Certainly, we know that the Left will continue to chip away at the good things in our world and they will especially attack our children which is more of a reason to spend time with them and teach them the truth.  But spending all of our time screaming at a computer screen is stupid and counterproductive.  The trite old saying is that living well is the best revenge.  Well, it’s true.  It’s not the only revenge.  But it’s the best way to start.  Pushing them into the sea comes later.
