Can Minneapolis and New York Come Back?

Minneapolis and New York.  Here are two cities where the largest constituency in the coalition that keeps the Democrats in perpetual power was given carte blanche to riot, burn and loot whole districts of each city.  The result is similar to what happened in Los Angeles during the Rodney King riots in 1992.  But there’s a new twist.  In these two cities the mayors ordered the police to stand down and let the mob riot unopposed.  Essentially the criminals who did all that damage did so without any consequences.  In fact, the rioters were treated as the aggrieved party and the political and law enforcement officials groveled in front of them.

As much as I despise Lori Lightfoot, the odious Mayor of Chicago she at least tried to have the police stop some of the looting.  She blocked off the commercial district to save the property of the Cloud People who are her patrons.  Of course, that didn’t do much for the poorer neighborhoods on the south and west sides of the city that were thoroughly looted and burned by the brainless mob and their Antifa leaders.

But that’s an aside.  Where do Minneapolis and New York go from here?  In a year and a half Jacob Frey and Bill de Blasio both end their present miserable terms.  New York will be spared another bout of de Blasio by virtue of term limits.  After his murder of Minneapolis, I’m guessing that hapless Frey will slink away and take up skate boarding.

Is it possible these two cities will reconsider endorsing death by Democrat this time?  Back in the late eighties New York rebounded from David Dinkins’ “gorgeous mosaic” of street crime to elect Rudy Giuliani.  As much as it irked them, Giuliani provided the liberal citizenry of New York with the first competent mayor since Fiorello LaGuardia back in the forties.  Will things be bad enough by 2022 that they’ll once again put in the hated conservative to right the sinking ship?

The same question applies to Minneapolis.  It’s a one-party town in a one-party state.  But could things spin so far out of control that they throw in the towel and elect an actual grown up man who believes that law and order are the bedrock of a functioning society?

The answer is it doesn’t really matter.  Even if both cities elect Republicans to save them the outcome in the long run will still be the same.  I’ve seen the same behavior up here in New England.  Republicans are a kind of pressure relief valve.  Once the locals have indulged their mental illnesses for too long the pressure of all that madness approaches the danger zone and they relieve the pressure by bringing in a Republican to fix things.  I won’t call him a conservative, that would be a ridiculous lie.  It’ll be some libertarian like William Weld or Mitt Romney who’ll do the dirty work of reducing the toxicity of the progressive madness to sub-lethal levels.  But eventually he will be cast out when the next bout of madness strikes the general population.

And that’s what will happen in Minneapolis and New York.  They’ll bring in a fixer who will reduce the insanity just enough to allow whole charade to go on and on forever through cycle after cycle.  I actually wish that the Republicans would just walk away and let the Democrats own this.  New York becoming mega-Detroit seems fitting.  It would be an abomination to see some of the most amazing cultural resources destroyed.  But it might be the straw that breaks the camel’s back.  If New York is utterly destroyed then that is undeniable proof that the assumptions we currently work under are false.  If they don’t work then we must change them.  And changing them is how we get to a rational system in this country.

Think about it.  A white police officer murders a black career criminal.  The police officer is arrested and charged with murder.  And instead of that being the end of the sequence of events, countless thousands of anarchists and looters destroy thousands of businesses, hundreds of policemen are injured and ten or twenty people die.  But just a few years ago, in the same city, a black police officer murdered a white woman who hadn’t done anything at all.  Eventually he was tried and convicted.  But guess how many people rioted, how many businesses were destroyed, how many policemen were injured, how many additional lives were lost because of this reverse situation.  You guessed it, none.  Something is very wrong with this picture and it won’t get better by kneeling to the thugs who are responsible for it.

With Friends Like These

How do you know when your side is winning the public opinion battle?  Based on the last fifty years of American politics I’d say it’s when all of a sudden you find that you have a whole bunch of new friends who want to straighten you out on who the real conservatives are and straighten you out on what you should believe.

Back in the 1970s and 1980s we had the Buckleyites running that scam and then in the 2000s the Neo-Cons got their turn.  Each time we go around in this circle they play the same game.  We hear about the conservative majority that will be unleashed if only we embrace x, y and z.  During our latest intervention our new friends want us to know that good old conservative institutions like gay marriage, open borders and offshoring American jobs to China will win us a coalition of newly minted conservatives if only we’re willing to denounce all those deplorables in the Rust Belt for the racists, xenophobes and homophobes they are.  Boy, it’s good to have friends willing to straighten you out.

These political sages are all twenty somethings, newly minted from Ivy League schools with the wisdom they’ve accumulated in their post-modern literature and intersectional philosophy seminars fairly sparkling off their faces.  I can just see the rainbow coalition of the LGBTQ and illegal aliens locking arms with libertarians, vegans, greens and other newly minted republicans as they stride shoulder to shoulder into a glorious new future of unrecognizable conservatism.  Ever was it so.

But, as stated, when your “friends” want to save you from your agenda then you know that you’re winning.  If you were losing, then these people wouldn’t be calling themselves conservatives and they wouldn’t be interested in talking to you.  There wouldn’t be any money in it for them.

I was reminded of this by a spate of recent articles discussing esoteric writers and schools of thought that would set us straight and allow us to give up our needless crusade to confirm constitutional originalists to the bench and abandon our hopelessly old-fashioned obsession with the first and second amendments.  When I read these articles, I get the same feeling that came over me when one of the neo-cons like Jonah Goldberg would explain why objecting to full acceptance of homosexuality as a legitimate alternative to normal sexuality was hopelessly outdated and a fool’s errand.  The angle he provided was that of an older and wiser head giving good advice to a country cousin who wasn’t smart enough to see that times had changed and all the smart people knew better and had moved on.

Back then it confused and depressed me to think that the conservative leaders had allowed themselves to be convinced by the arguments of the moral relativists.  But of course, there hadn’t been any arguments.  It was just a matter of the pundits going to some dinner parties where their liberal friends told them that only mouth breathers refused to acknowledge the highly conservative nature of buggery.

So here we go again.  Against all odds Donald Trump unites social conservatives, patriots and everyone who despises the hypocrisy and stupidity of the social justice warriors.  And because he is seeing success and his enemies are afraid that their policies are in danger, those on the Left immediately look to co-opt the movement.  Their first targets are always the young elite intellectuals.  They will dangle the prospect of an alliance of the moderates.  The libertarians can be fooled into thinking that the “less crazy” progressives will band together with them to oppose the enemies of free speech and truth.  All these libertarians have to do to seal the deal is purge the social conservatives who can’t be reconciled with their new pals.  And to justify these delusions the young intellectuals spin a fantasy about the solidarity of the Classic Liberal coalition.  Never mind that the Left has replaced principle with identity power politics for more than a century.  Never mind that even while the “moderate” crazies are being harassed by their even crazier lunatic fringe no one on the Left ever misses a chance to kick someone on the Right if the opportunity presents itself.

Knowing all this I can only laugh at the pretensions of these brilliant moderates and their castles in the clouds.  But more important than derision is pointing out to the young and impressionable that an alliance with the “saner” elements of the Left is a pipe dream that only leads to compromise and splintering of the factions on the Right.  The Left is your mortal foe.  They want to destroy all the things in life that make it worth living.  They’ve already destroyed the majority of the institutions that made this country great.  Compromising with them is just cooperating with them while they push you off the cliff.  Moral relativism always leads to accepting things that are wrong.  Instead, push in the direction of what is inherently good and you’ll make progress and you’ll attract like-minded people.  Those are the friends you want, not the ones who look exactly like enemies.

Who’s on My Side?

Nowadays there are a thousand labels and each group will tell you that they are the real Americans.  There are the groups on the Left like the Progressives, the Socialists, the Bernie Bros and all the various identity groups that inhabit their alliance, the feminists, the LGBTQ crazies and the racial minorities.  On the Right are a similar mixed group of ideologies, the libertarians, the neo-conservatives, the fiscal conservatives, the establishment conservatives and moving farther right we have the social conservatives, the religious right, the so-called alt-right and the dissident right.  For the last forty years and more I’ve been following politics in this country and I’ve always been two steps behind the real story.  But the last five years have been extremely clarifying.  The unmasking of the establishment conservatives as the controlled opposition has made it much easier to understand why things always got worse.  But at the same time, I’ve never been sold on the whole racialist destiny where everyone will be voting their skin color and ethnicity thing either.  In my experience ethnicity, race and identity group memberships are a pretty poor way of running a society.  In fact, it’s the whole notion of basing policy on racial and sexual victim status that has gotten us into the sorry state we’re in now.  Rather than join into that mess I want it ended.  No more special rules based on race and sex.

Instead what I’ve always used as a gauge for in-group status with me is whether someone had the same goals for his children.  First of all, if somebody doesn’t think marrying a pretty girl and having a family with her is high on his priorities then he won’t be very supportive of the kind of world that I’m interested in inhabiting.  And after that if he isn’t interested in his kids following in the same pattern then he’s not in my camp.  Now granted there are people who are happier single and I’ll allow that they have the right to live their lives the way they want.  But if they don’t at least see the value of having society revolve around the family then they’re definitely not on my side.

Now once you’ve passed those hurdles what comes next is the Bill of Rights.  Your ancestors and mine could have come from the same peasant town in Campania but if you don’t think freedom of speech and the rest of our freedoms are more important than being in good with the local big shot then you’re not on my team.  After that, all I ask is that you don’t expect me to pay your bills.

So that’s how I see the political landscape.  I can probably get along with a spectrum of people who respect the merits of a traditional society.  And to use a word that has been bandied about on a few too many bumper stickers, I can “coexist” with lots of people who don’t believe in the same things I do.  I neither need nor want to convince liberals, libertarians or even establishment conservatives to think the way I do.  What I do need is for them to get out of the way while we dismantle the program, we have been subjected to for the last fifty years that systematically attacks all the things that I see as normal, necessary and fundamental for living a healthy life.  What I can’t coexist with is the radical elements of the left who are leading that attack on normal, wholesome life.  These people are indeed a cancer attacking the good things in America that have up until now given this country it’s strength and character.

So hopefully that helps define where I stand on the political spectrum and who I see as my allies, as neutral parties and my enemies.

Looking for Good Ideas

A couple of weeks ago I wrote an article called, “How Do We Live Our Lives in an Upside-Down World?”  What I said there was that we have to look at the big picture and the little picture at the same time.  So, supporting President Trump and any other leaders who show that they can get the job done is very important.  But just as important is improving your life, your family’s existence and extending out into your circle of friends and acquaintances.  And that’s how this gets to OCF.  You folks out there, the ones who like the content here, are my friends.  I put up content that I think will be entertaining, interesting and maybe even useful to people on our side of the fence.  By the same token I want anyone who comes to the site who has insights and information that I don’t have but could help me do a better job, to pass it along.  I’ll have to figure out a way to keep a wanted list of information I’m looking for.  As a for instance, I have a quote of the day that I’ve been doing for a couple of years.  You’d be surprised how hard it is to find good quotes after you’ve been digging through them for that long.  So, for readers who have favorite authors of quotes, and especially if you’ve been following the quotes for a good long time, I’m looking for more authors to search through.  If you have authors, I haven’t checked please pass them along in a comment.  And in the same way, I’m always looking for movies and books to review both old and new.  If it’s something you’ve always enjoyed or something good you recently discovered pass it along.

Without a doubt Yarvin must have a dizzying intellect.  Reading his narrative is like taking a graduate course in sociology from Einstein.  I feel like I’ll need to read it three more times to make sure I followed all his points.  Basically he’s explaining why Progressives believe the nonsense they believe.  He used climate science as an example and it is interesting.  Support for the Progressive worldview allows Leftists to feel good about themselves by believing that the warming narrative makes sense.  It’s a dense read but if you liked Part 1, you’ll have to continue down the rabbit hole..

Awhile back I linked to a post by Michael Anton in which he reviewed a self-published book called Bronze Age Mindset.  Well the author of that book was given a chance to address the content of the post over at Claremont’s American Mind webpage.  I’ve linked to it below.  If you are at all interested in the dissident community that was the on-line heart of Donald Trump’s support in 2016 then you may find this article very informative.  I did.  The pseudonymous author (Bronze Age Pervert) is extremely persuasive in laying out his case for the need, or rather, the unavoidable certainty of the collapse of the current liberal worldview.  Highly recommended read.

Okay!  Codevilla is openly considering whether the red states should start emulating the blue states.  If the blue states openly defy drug laws then what if the red states defy the laws they disagree with; abortion, homosexuality, pornography, etc.  Of course you see how this goes downhill fast.  The next round on their side would be the 1st and 2nd amendments.  Codevilla is fast approaching the dissident right’s positions, if not from a philosophical perspective then at least from a tactical and practical perspective.

Well, if that went forward, things would definitely accelerate and I might have to move sooner than I expected.  Ahhh, I’m tired of snow anyway.

Identity Politics and Civic Nationalism – Part 1

At the end of the first part of this post I said I’d look a little more closely at the specifics of the Dissident Right’s logic and compare it to my own way of looking at where we are.

First off let’s acknowledge something that we cannot afford to forget.  The Dissident Right (or Alt-Right if you prefer) was the only group who both knew what was going wrong in this country and weren’t afraid to say it out loud.  They recognized that the Left was in control of all the levers of power and the Establishment Republicans had no intention of changing the results of the Left’s program.

The Dissident Right explained exactly how the schools and colleges proselytized the children and how the Media, the Democrats, Big Business and the Courts twisted every part of society until nothing remains of the normal world of just a few years ago.  And as proven, the Establishment Republicans use the anger this generates to get themselves re-elected.  But once in office they can be depended on to never actually reverse any of this destruction and instead just talk about how dead set they are against whatever the next outrage is.  And when that outrage becomes law they just move along to the next.

And the Dissident Right identified the fact that both Parties and Big Business were determined to use immigration, both legal and illegal, as a means to swamp out the votes of the citizens of the United States as a way to eliminate all resistance to their agenda.  It was plain during the 2016 election that none of the Republicans, no matter how “conservative” he was, would say a word against illegal immigration for fear of being called a racist.

And the Dissident Right was the only group that supported Trump.  Everyone else either said he was a joke or abhorred him for being a vulgarian.

So, as I said above, ignoring the Dissident Right means ignoring the only group that knew how we were losing the Country to the Left and how we could stop them from doing it.  Clearly what they say has to be carefully considered.

But you might say, why not just jump on their band wagon?  For me, that is a disturbing choice.  The Dissident Right is comprised of people who believe that differences in race and even ethnicity prevent a heterogeneous state like the present United States from living in harmony.  They believe that the future will be a fractious hodge-podge of identity groups that, led by the trouble-makers on the Left, will spend all their time pursuing imaginary grievances against the European Americans that they’ve been told are holding them back from being happy.

The Dissident Right points to affirmative action discrimination and the destruction of the family and the LGBTQ lawfare warriors and de-platforming of people on the right and say we are already there and that once we are a majority-minority-nation, things will only get much worse.

Accepting this hypothesis as true is not something I would do unless forced by irrefutable evidence.  But having it espoused by people who have been right about things that the majority were wrong about means I have to find reasonable arguments for why the Dissident Right is mistaken in their conclusions.

Instead of going through a bunch of cases and subsets of categories I’ll sum up the problem we’re experiencing by saying that in the 1960s when the economy was very strong the leaders of the Democrat party saw that they no longer had an unbeatable coalition of disaffected voters like they had in the 1930s and 1940s.  They decided to follow the Marxist playbook and weaken their enemies by sowing as much division as they could.  They espoused abortion as a way to destroy the family and they sponsored all the grievance movements to further fracture the country.  They infested the schools and steadily eroded intellectual life until even the sciences were politicized and distracted from their primary functions.  And they enshrined massive immigration both legal and illegal.

But even when all this was going on it was still possible for a conservative leader like Ronald Reagan to rally the Right.  And when that happened, the country was able to see itself as one people.  It was only when we were led by people who believed in the propaganda of the Left that everything has fallen completely apart.  Basically, since 1988 (thirty years) we have been living under the rule of the Left and their Globalist Echoes on the Fake Right.  Bush Senior, Clinton, Bush Junior and Obama allowed every outrage of the Left to happen to us with either enthusiasm or feigned reluctance.

This track record is why I think that the Dissident Right may be mistaken in the irreversibility of the changes we are experiencing.  In just two years President Trump has installed a whole generation of federal judges who will begin the process of reversing the damage done by the rogue judiciary.  Without Justice Kennedy it’s possible that the SCOTUS will reverse the decisions that found a constitutional mandate for abortion and gay marriage and affirmative action.  Those types of actions would change the world we live in.  Once those injustices are addressed people would see the world much differently.

The final thing that I need to address is the Race Realism that the Dissident Right says will prevent the United States from existing in harmony.  They claim that both differences in behavior and feelings of separateness will forever keep different races and ethnicities from living peacefully together.  My experience with diversity is a product of growing up and living in New York City in the 1960s, 70s and 80s.  Believe me when I tell you that things were very far from harmonious in the “glorious mosaic” that existed in that era.  There was a separate neighborhood every ten to fifteen blocks and mostly the ethnic and racial groups didn’t happily mingle or even interact.  There were riots and even several large areas of the city burned down.  Crime was rampant and the subways were very dangerous as were the parks and other empty areas.  Of course, the Democrats were always stoking the unrest with grievance propaganda.  But then I remember what happened when the city finally had had enough and elected a law and order Republican, Rudy Giuliani.  It got better!  And indeed, the people of all races and ethnicities felt more united and less angry when a sensible government started enforcing the law and holding everyone accountable.

I won’t claim that there aren’t differences between people.  In fact, I’ll go one step further and says we’re all different from each other.  Every family has a smarter kid and a tougher kid and a kid who doesn’t follow the rules.  But if one kid does better in school you can’t hold him back to make the less smart kid feel better about himself.  And as every parent knows, the best way to keep the peace in a family is to come up with reasonable rules and make sure that everyone follows them.  It’s only when you see someone else getting away with something, you’re not allowed to that trouble begins.

So, this is getting overly long.  My way of thinking about this is that if we can elect non-leftists who want to restore normalcy to the country, we can do it.  Maybe it won’t happen.  But just saying it’s impossible doesn’t appeal to me, at least not yet.  President Trump has given me hope that it can be done.  Let’s see if he can do it before we throw in the towel.

(My Understanding of the Current Composition of Non-Leftist America)

This is an update to my earlier column back in November 2017 “Defining the Space Between NeverTrump and the Alt-Right,”  that appeared on the American Greatness website.  At the time I declared that I was a red-pilled normie.  Of course, I was quickly corrected by someone surely far to my right with the news that there are many red pills and I had a ways to go.

Here we are another eighteen months later (more or less) and my learning curve has flattened out a little and I have a better understanding of the nuances and distinctions on the non-left half of the socio-political spectrum.  And the world has changed a great deal too.

Back in 2017 the NeverTrumpers were still in the ascendancy in Washington.  Paul Ryan was still the Speaker of the House and the National Review and the Weekly Standard were still considered conservative magazines by some Republicans.  Mitch McConnell and Lindsay Graham were still more likely to side with Chuck Schumer than President Trump on any particular issue of the day.  And every fresh rumor from the leakers on the Mueller investigation was trumpeted on the front page of the Times and Post as if impeachment and conviction were only hours away.  How the mighty have fallen.

The point to all this is that the categories of the Non-Left have not changed much over time but the sizes of these constituencies have shifted radically.  Let’s start with the left most extreme edge of the Non-Left.  Here are the liberal civic nationalists or “Centrists.”  These are the swing voters that can vote Democrat or Republican depending on circumstances and really don’t have much claim to be grouped with conservatives.  They are socially liberal and fiscally pretty liberal too.  But to the extent that they can vote Republican they are Non-Left.  This is a fairly large group of people in the Mid-West and probably a large number of them would be capable of voting for Joe Biden or President Trump in 2020 depending on circumstances.  But considering the changes in the economy and the news (like the conclusion to the Mueller investigation) it seems likely that President Trump’s rising popularity probably stems from the changes in opinion of this group.  So, to the extent that they are shifting rightwards let’s say that this constituency is growing.

Next to the Centrists moving rightwards are the so-called “Establishment Republicans.”  Here are the business people who expect the Republican party to stand for capitalism, low taxes and fiscal restraint.  This is the JEB! crowd.  They trooped over to the NeverTrump movement en masse as soon as they found out that Trump didn’t think globalization was the greatest thing since sliced bread.  This group doesn’t shrink or grow.  It’s a population that inhabits the same stratum with the elite Left.  In fact, they’re the same people.  They’re just a little less strident in their social opinions.  But they have moved away from their virulent anti-Trump positions as of late and at this point, they’re more neutral in their attitudes about the President.  Personally, they still despise him but on a practical basis they concede that they may have to deal with him for another term and they are trying to figure out how best to take advantage of that.  An exception to this trend is the Neo-Cons.  These War-Hawks are now synonymous with the NeverTrumpers.  Bill Kristol and Max Boot are the most virulent of the bunch but as a group they have drifted so far from even the remaining Establishment Republicans that they are now essentially Leftists.

The next big class of people are the Conservative Civic Nationalists.  This is the bulk of the Non-Left.  These are the normal people who have always believed in God and Country and that America was the land of freedom, opportunity and fairness.  They believed that all Americans were lucky to be living in the greatest country on God’s green earth.  They believed that the rule of law under the Constitution and especially the Bill of Rights is what made this the closest thing to heaven on earth and anyone living here should be supremely grateful to the Founding Fathers for inventing it and his own ancestors for coming here.  This is the group that has had the biggest change occur in the last couple of years.  But to define the change let’s break this group into two sub-divisions.  Let’s call them Sleepwalkers and the Red-Pilled.  Back in the early 2000s all the Civic Nationalists (including myself) were Sleepwalkers.  We believed that the Bush family was conservative.  W told us he was a religious conservative.  We thought he meant that he believed in the social conservative beliefs.  We thought he would defend and protect the traditional values that formed the basis of the support that allowed him to send millions of young men half way around the world to primitive lands where they would put their bodies in harms way to fight his wars.

But the more we defended W, the more he embraced the programs and policies that exposed his constituency to impoverishment through globalist financial policies and replacement by illegal migration.  By the time the Bushes had come to publicly embrace the Clintons and the Obamas it was becoming plain to a small part of the Civic Nationalists that we were being played.  This group decamped and became the Dissident Right (some called themselves the Alt-Right).  Others were just confused and demoralized that all the loyalty and sacrifice that went into the Afghan and Iraq Wars was completely lost on the Neo-Cons and the Republican Establishment.  But during the run up to the 2016 election the information that the Dissident Right had decoded started becoming disseminated and a small group of the Civic Nationalists became “red-pilled.”  They realized that if Jeb Bush was the Republican candidate there was no hope of turning around the Anti-American program that Obama had started.  In fact, none of the candidates, even ones who believed in the conservative agenda could stand up to the combination of Left-Wing journalism and their own fears of being called racists if they dared campaign against globalism and replacement migration.  No one except Trump.  And as these red-pilled normies saw the lengths to which the Establishment Republicans and the Left would go in order to defeat Trump they became convinced that the only way to save the country was to destroy the old order.  Business as usual would mean the end of our republic as we knew it.

And here is the other big change that has been happening for the last year and a half.  The ratio of the Red-Pilled to the Sleepwalkers has been growing.  My information is based on the acquaintances I have who have shifted over that time.  It is a steady trend and it only goes in one direction.  This shift isn’t too important short term because even the Sleepwalkers have accepted Trump and will support him in 2020 but the importance of the Red-Pilled contingent lies in the post-Trump era.  The Red-Pilled are far less likely than their Sleepwalking brethren of being fooled again, no more Bushes for them.

To the right of the Red-Pilled Normies lies the Dissident Right.  These are the people that are so disillusioned with America that they feel that the only way for them to live free is for the United States to be divided between the Left and the Right.  To a large extent these folks feel that racial differences and resentment will prevent the various ethnic populations from living in harmony.  They believe that the Left’s use of identity politics will spread to the white population and will splinter the unity of the American nation into racial components that will want to separate to provide each group freedom from oppression by the other groups.

The Dissident Right is a disturbing group to follow.  Their theory paints a bleak picture of human nature and the future they predict doesn’t hold much hope for a happy place where America is now.  But one thing that cannot be denied is that they understand the Left and how it has been dominating the world for about a century.  They understand the psychological and sociological tactics and strategies that the Left has been successfully using to destroy almost every facet of life that we held dear.  They’ve destroyed the laws, education, corporations, social institutions, churches, the family, sex roles and now they are even redefining what it means biologically to be a man or a woman.  They can predict what the Left will say and do and they can define tactics that will work against these people.  That’s pretty hard to argue with.

For myself, I tend to agree with what they say is wrong with our society.  But I presume that if the practices are changed then the result will change too.  For instance, I think that the anti-male, anti-normal and anti-white rhetoric and governmental policies that the Left has enshrined and which breed animosity between people can be eliminated.  Once these things are removed the reasons for resentments will be eliminated too.  But I also will admit that I can’t be 100% sure that they are wrong.  After all they have seen things when others didn’t.  For me the jury is out on their predictions.  But I hold onto my civic nationalist beliefs.

So that’s what I see to the right of the Left.  The biggest chunk is still the Civic Nationalists and, in that chunk, the Red-Pilled Normies are growing and the Sleepwalkers are slowly waking up.  The Centrist are on our side at the moment but as always, they blow with the wind.  The Establishment Republicans are useless and in it for themselves but they’ll go along if a strong man drags them by their purse strings.  The Neo-cons have returned to the Left where they belonged.  And finally, the Dissident Right is the Angry Cynic who sees the Con-Man on the Left shaking down the Idealists and warns the rest of us to prepare for a fight.

Our Revolution’s Logic – Angelo Codevilla – An On-Line Article Review

In an earlier post I said that Angelo Codevilla’s article was sure to be interesting and depressing.  And so it is.  Basically he seems to concur with the Dissident Right on the point that there is no longer any going back to one America.  His thesis is that the Progressives have let the genie fully out of the bottle and the Right is now radicalized to the point that there will be an unending ratcheting up of tactics on both sides.  And he does not think political victory by the Right will deter the Left.  They are now in the go for broke business.  And of course the most apt metaphor for this situation is the Corcyran Civil War in Thucydides.  There we see class warfare unleashed to its most diabolical conclusion, complete annihilation of the hated enemy down to the last man.  The only ray of sunshine allowed is if Republicans win the next few elections we’ll able to convince the Progressives to peacefully divide the country into mutually exclusive populations of us and them.  So the story is bleak.

Luckily I’m an optimist.  I still think we may beat the bastards.  But I don’t say Mr. Codevilla can’t be right.  He makes a convincing case.  Well, I’m still staying up for the Mid-Terms.  They should be very instructive.

It’s a very long article and there are no laughs but if you are interested in a political perspective on the Resistance and what it will spawn from a very thoughtful writer of the Right you might want to read this.  If you want the Cliff Notes version I’d say start prepping for the troubles.

When Will We Know That We Are Applying Enough Pressure on the Left?

I think the answer is surprisingly definitive.  We’ll know we’re doing enough whenever the next election is NOT described as the most important election of our lifetimes.  Think about it.  For the last thirty years, every single election has been described as the most important election in our lifetimes.  That means the battle has been amping up every single year for that long.  Every single time the Right has made headway the Left’s reaction is to redouble their efforts.  And they’ve done this year in and year out for decades.  And so far, it has always worked.  No matter the circumstance the pressure has always eventually returned the Left to power and brought us farther down the road toward leftist bedlam.

So, the answer is we’ll know we’ve won when they become reconciled to giving ground.  When their talking points revolve around some moderate increase in the conservative status quo.  They have to lose hope of winning and just settle for losing slower.

And so, we can no longer try to just keep parity or just lose a little ground to them.  We need to do so much damage to their cause that they don’t just get dispirited but despair.  Basically, we have to do to them what they’ve been doing to us for decades.  And the best way to do that is with their own method.  Under normal conditions constant steady is applied to the political situation.  When a setback is experienced redouble the pressure and look to retake the ground by all means necessary.

And most important, never think of the Progressives as fellow citizens.  They are not.  They are citizens of the world, pod people.  America is just another hill for them to take for the global collective.  All the things that America used to stand for, God, family, pride in country, hard work, individuality, pride in ownership, responsibility, are outdated and dangerous concepts that they reject and are working to eliminate from the world they are building.  Defeating them is not an unfortunate consequence of the political process.  It is an indication that we are moving the country in the right direction.

As part of the operation we need to perfect the same techniques they did.  We have to use subterfuge to misdirect attention away from our true intentions and lie about the scope of what we want.  In other words, we need to master the art of the slippery slope.  It should be a truly enjoyable experience introducing the Left to the joys of being sucker punched.  And just so they learn how to do it correctly we’ll have the Bush family put up a greatest hits collection on YouTube.  After all nobody gets sucker punched better than they do.

Eventually the Left will cease to present a threat and life will return to normal and we can start acting honorably again.  By my calculations the whole thing could be over in a hundred and forty years.  Alright, let’s get started.
