22JUL2021 – OCF Update – The Curse is Lifted

Three full days without a drop of rain.  Huzzah!  Today I saw a pale bedraggled brown snake look up at the sky and I thought I heard a hiss of relief.  He was sunning himself on one of the bricks I need as a support for a big old air-conditioner I use for bigger parties in the summer.  I regretfully moved him out of the way and he resentfully moved on.  Such are the small disappointments of life that we all must sustain even brown snakes.

Camera Girl is cooking meatballs, sausage and making a huge red sauce to use on the pasta dish for Saturday.  This is big stuff.  She’s got about thirty pounds of meat and the hissing of the cooking meat sounds like some industrial process whenever she takes one of the pans out of the oven.  Forces are being applied and profound sorcery is at work.  I’m giving her some space today since this part of the effort is crucial.  I have my plate full anyway.  Cleaning and installation of the A/C is something I like to do just right.  The unit is too heavy to be supported by the window and I never bought the chain hoist I wanted to get especially for this task.  So it’s a manual operation and my back isn’t as young as it once was so preparation and planning are crucial.  Luckily I’ve been studying the techniques that riggers use for installing 60,000 to 80,000 pound components.  It’s quite an art.  But I did notice that having a huge powerful young guy with a back of iron is one of the crucial components of a successful rigging operation.  Well I’m a guy so that’s one out of five.  And I am motivated so I predict success with only slight damage to life and limb.

I saw this morning that Tyler from Portly Politico was hoping that I had landed a personal interview with Hungarian prime minister Victor Orban.  Now I must admit that would be quite a coup for me.  But I’ll start smaller.  Maybe I can get an interview with Max Morton.  He’s a fellow who has contributed a number or articles at American Greatness and I find myself in wide agreement with his opinions.  But I haven’t managed to contact him so far.  We’ll see.

The Hungarians, Poles and a few of the other Eastern European countries have emerged as the most enlightened places for people interested in resisting the global Left.  Wouldn’t it be interesting if the former Soviet Bloc nations end up being the free world.  Life is strange that way.

Well, after I finish my chores I’ll look around and see what I want to write about.  The sun is shining and I’m feeling mighty optimistic so don’t be surprised if it’s something upbeat.  I just finished re-watching the final 2nd season episode of Star Trek, “Assignment: Earth” and will write the review today.  That’s the one with a very young Teri Garr.  Of course it has its Star Trek goofiness but it at least has a discernable story to tell so it will get a pretty good mark.

More to follow later.  Have a great day.

An Interview with Victor Orban

Victor Orban is the Prime Minister of Hungary and a staunch Hungarian nationalist.  He is trying his best to push his country back in a direction that aligns with Family, God and Country.  And because of this he is despised by his EU neighbors.  The openly gay EU leaders have been triggered by his recent passing of a law that forbids proselytizing the LGBTQ lifestyles to minors.  But he is indifferent to their hysteria.  The fact that Hungary elected this man four times speaks volumes about their superiority to our own with respect to survival instinct

Recently he was interviewed by a religious publication from Croatia.  Here are some excepts.  Note:  This is a machine translation from a Croat publication and therefore not particularly polished.

How much does it cost you to swim against the dominant European political current?

Whoever swims with the multicultural fashion of this time loses everything that matters in life. True, everyone who goes against the current causes themselves a lot of problems. We pay a high price. Hungary pays a high price for not signing the Istanbul Convention, then refusing to support any Cold War policy; we pay a high price for not kicking the Russian president every day together with Westerners, but giving him the respect he deserves as president; we pay a high price for protecting the Christian model of the family; that LGBT madness has no place here; then we pay a high price for our position on migration and we pay a high price for not accepting the Brussels bureaucracy, but first and foremost as a counterweight to building Central European cooperation. So, we really pay a high price. But if we don’t pay that price, and if we don’t represent our interests, we may live more comfortably, but we will end up losing a lot more. We do better if we fight. I think Zrinski would understand that too.

How strong are the influences of pre-democratic structures in Hungary today?

In the Hungarian soul there is generally a desire for what is more important than personal life, which transcends it. Hungarians usually look for it in three directions: in the direction of family, nation and God. Usually, conversion also occurs when these three worlds are connected. It is a process that is progressing and I would not say that we are hindered by pre-democratic structures, no one else is responsible, it is our responsibility. Clearly, there are atheists in Hungary as well, there are opponents of the Church, there are liberals who do everything to stop the spread of Christian values. They have their own media, they are organized, they have strong civic associations. However, we have them on the conservative side as well – there are at least as many Christian media as there are anti-Christian ones, our civil associations are at least as strong as theirs, maybe even stronger; and we hold political positions because we have a Christian government. Therefore, the lack of spiritual renewal cannot be attributed to our opponents. The fault is not in others, but in ourselves.

You mention the soul of Europe, the spiritual struggle. Is the current political struggle actually the materialization of a spiritual struggle waged in the background?

Politics takes place on three levels simultaneously. The first level is practical: it deals with issues related to power, the acceptance of the budget, the appointment of persons, the maintenance of order. I would call the second level a vision, because all national communities must have a vision. What will happen to the Hungarians, not tomorrow morning, but in five, 10, 20 years? However, behind everything there is another broader dimension, the world of transcendence. We live in that dimension as well, and it is a part of life. In Hungarian political thought, this is called the problem of majority and truth. It could be said like this: if someone has a majority, but does not strive for the truth with that majority, what will the majority do for him? It’s just profanation. If, on the other hand, one advocates the truth but cannot move the majority, how will he act in the interest of that truth? It is a key challenge of Christian politics that emerges in democratic conditions. To simplify, we no longer have sacral kings anointed by God, so we must exist in a democracy, connecting the majority and the truth. It is not easy, but it is possible. Demo-Christian politics also has its mandate in relation to Christian culture. Christianity, first of all, created a free man. Therefore, we must first and foremost protect human dignity. Then, Christianity created a Christian family. We must protect the concept of the Christian family. Furthermore, Christianity has created nations in this part of the world. If we, the Hungarians, had not followed Christianity for a thousand years, we would have disappeared, so we must also protect the nation. But we must also protect religious communities and the Church. To summarize, our task is not to protect theological principles, it is the mission of the Church, but the great Christian achievements of civilization. And when I protect them, I fight not only with the sword, I use not only power, but also arguments.

The Fellowship of the Betrayed

Let’s face it, we’ve been betrayed.  Not since that fateful night in Gethsemane has anyone been treated worse by “friends.”  I suppose if we were smart, we would shut up, play the woke playbook and start collecting CRT bonus points by attending a BLM riot in black bloc and burn down some poor neighbor’s small business.  That would be the smart play.  I’ve seen plenty of people do it.  I can think of one particular fifty something white guy who has embraced the whole thing.  He spends his work day giving training sessions in unconscious bias and white privilege.  It truly is enough to turn your stomach.  So, I guess I’m really not smart.

Good.  I’ve picked my side.  Now what?  Well, how about make the most of it.  Last Saturday I had the first meet up with the local group of deplorables.  Just some of the guys who were the Coffee Walk back during the 2016 election and their wives.  We had some good food and spent the night talking about life.  Kids and grandkids, work and family, even a little bit of politics.  It was pretty damn great.  We enjoyed it so much we’re already planning the next one.

And the on-line equivalent of that is the comments I get on this site.  I send out my thoughts and if they resonate with someone, he tells me what he thinks.  Now, I’ve never met any of these folks in the flesh but we can talk, we can share opinions maybe compare experiences.  I find this enjoyable, worthwhile.  I wish there were a thousand times more of you all out there.  I especially like when you talk to each other.  That really is the final goal, creating a network.

Taking this to its logical conclusion, smart people should be organizing a platform where this network can be focused on creating some concrete progress toward advancing our social and political goals.  As a for instance, suppose there was an effort to harness tens of millions of consumers to support or boycott some company based on its behavior toward our constituency.  Let’s take Coca Cola as a for instance.  Imagine if one hundred million people coordinated a boycott of Coca Cola for a whole year.  I think it just might drive them out of business.  But even if it didn’t, the damage that would be done to that company would frighten the hell out of all the other Fortune 500 companies.  And the same kind of action supporting a company that treats our people with respect would have an equally powerful effect.

Full disclosure there are websites who are trying to do this very thing.  The Media Action Network tries to coordinate e-mail campaigns against offenders and in support of allies.  But they don’t have the reach that an organization would have if it managed to mobilize the whole Trump electorate.  But that’s the dream, to see all of the deplorables joined together in a cohesive network and using that massive financial and political clout to accomplish concrete goals that would improve our day to day lives.  Imagine if we could scare the whole Fortune 500 into backing off their BLM support.  Imagine if we all quit Facebook on the same day and never opened it again.  I imagine it would knock half the value off the stock overnight.

So, this is my dream, to be part of the fellowship of the betrayed, to be part of a group that just doesn’t take our erasure by the Elites lying down but bands together to fight back.  My contribution is minuscule.  But it’s what I can do until something better emerges.  If you like my idea leave a comment.  If you disagree leave a comment.  Either way I learn something.

Disney’s Animatronic Biden Declared Legitimate President by Orlando Crowd

I think it would be a good bet that animatronic Biden would win a debate with Dementia Joe every time.  The story says the dummy will be standing next to a table adorned with peach blossoms and aviator glasses.  But once he leaves with his secret service detail the animatron will get back to work regaling the public with anecdotes about Corn Pop and exhorting the crowd with his trademark, “come on man!” anytime someone uses flash photography.

The exhibit staff have been trying to find a way to prevent the adjacent animatronic Donald Trump from administering an “atomic wedgie” to the Biden machine.  They keep updating the Trump unit’s firmware but somehow it keeps returning to the subroutine.  One of the IT reps stated that it was “impossible to explain but still incredibly funny.”

20JUL2021 – OCF Update – The Weather Gods Relent

Finally, finally, a day without rain.  So I went out there and cut the grass.  Although not all of it.  About two thirds of the west field was still too soggy to cut.  But the rest is done and now I’ll get back to work.

A week ago I was in a store looking for a baseball glove.  I have my grandsons coming over on Saturday and I want to be able to have a catch.  I’ve been using one of their spares and it’s a little on the small side.  So I looked at some gloves at a local store and they’re all made of pleather?  I was outraged.  The salesman called it vegan leather.  I walked out.  Finally I found a real leather glove.  I guess I shouldn’t be surprised.  With MLB supporting cop killers and disrespecting the flag and anthem I’m done with them too.

But now I can enjoy baseball the way it’s supposed to be.  Tossing around the baseball with my son was one of my favorite memories.  It brings me back to having a catch with my Dad.  He never had much time and we mostly played with the other kids but every once in a while he’d throw the football or the baseball around with us and invariably he’d pull something in his back or neck or whatever.  He’d put on a big show of being injured and beg off from the game and just watch us.  Mostly he’d yell warnings that we better not break any car windows on the block we lived on.  But it was still something I remember fondly.

Camera Girl has given me a new list of demands.  I must sweep the basement, vacuum the window blinds and clean up all the junk so we can have thirty people on Saturday in splendor.  We’ll see about that.  Calls are coming in about food that people are bringing and Camera Girl is getting kind of uppity when I ask about the arrangements.  I think she’s trying to pick a fight with me but I’m too wise for that.  I told her that she can serve the food in a trough if she wants, as long as we feed the guests I’ll be good with it.  My family isn’t too picky about meal protocol as long as the food is tasty and plentiful.  And I’m sure both of those will be true.  The whole family hasn’t gotten together in two years.  So this is going to be kind of great.

And miraculously (although maybe I’m trusting too much to the accuracy of weather forecasters) the weather is supposed to be sunny and in the mid-seventies.  That should make the party very comfortable for everyone including the cook and the busboy (me).  So the summer has reappeared just in time to make the family get together great again (FGTGA).

The news cycle right now is full of the usual nonsense that the Democrats talk about.  Four trillion dollar stimulus bills that they hope to use for illegal alien amnesty and other horrors that they hope to inflict on us.  Good inflation and delta variants and Bezos in Space and Ben and Jerry’s joins the PLO.  The silly season is in full swing.  The runaway Texas democrats have infected Pelosi’ and Biden’s staff with the plague.  Let’s just say there’s no good news and the bad news is just too stupid to talk about.  Enjoy the summer and enjoy your life.  I’ll let you know if something interesting comes along.

What Portion Have We in Harvard and Wall Street? – To Your Tents, O Deplorables!

In the King James Version at 1 Kings 12 the people of Israel receive Solomon’s son Rehoboam’s reply to their request to treat them more gently.

“13And the king answered the people roughly, and forsook the old men’s counsel that they gave him; 14And spake to them after the counsel of the young men, saying, My father made your yoke heavy, and I will add to your yoke: my father also chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions. 15Wherefore the king hearkened not unto the people; for the cause was from the LORD, that he might perform his saying, which the LORD spake by Ahijah the Shilonite unto Jeroboam the son of Nebat. 16So when all Israel saw that the king hearkened not unto them, the people answered the king, saying, What portion have we in David? neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse: to your tents, O Israel: now see to thine own house, David. So Israel departed unto their tents. 17But as for the children of Israel which dwelt in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them. 18Then king Rehoboam sent Adoram, who was over the tribute; and all Israel stoned him with stones, that he died. Therefore king Rehoboam made speed to get him up to his chariot, to flee to Jerusalem. 19So Israel rebelled against the house of David unto this day.”

Or to quote from a less hallowed but fairly popular source “I am altering the deal. Pray I don’t alter it any further.”

I find the analogy of this to our present situation.  The descendants of the Puritans are the Elites that run and own much of the country.  They live in the blue states and send their kids to the Ivy League schools and run the Fortune 500 companies and infest the media companies.  They have told us that we are unworthy.  They want to chastise us with scorpions.  They have altered the deal and we should consider ourselves lucky if they let us exist at all.

Well, maybe it’s time we walk away from these masters of the universe and attend to our own affairs.  We don’t run multi-national corporations or sit on the Supreme Court.  But we have parents and children and we love the life that God put in us.  What portion have we in Harvard and Wall Street?  Neither have we inheritance in the Sons of the Mayflower.  To your tents, O Deplorables.  Now see to thine own house, Jeb Bush.

Wherever we find ourselves in positions of majority we need to begin the process of taking control of our own lives.  We will have to push back against the toxic narratives and destructive policies that Washington inflicts on us and our children.  Hopefully someone like Ron DeSantis or some other red state leader will step forward and recognize that this is the perfect time to begin the process of saying no to Washington.  The dispute over social media discrimination is the likeliest place where a break with Washington can have a meaningful outcome.  Punishing Facebook or Twitter seems to be within the power of a governor and state legislature and could let these companies know that their immunity from consequences is over.

We are Americans.  That used to mean we were free men.  I think we should remember that and try to make it mean something again.  Come on you supposed leaders, do something right.

Culture is Upstream of Politics – What Does that Mean to Me

This was Andrew Breitbart’s explanation for why we needed to assert our place in social media and entertainment and other arenas of our culture.  And he was right.  That explains why Google, Facebook and Twitter are desperate to remove the Right from the public square.  They can’t win in the marketplace of ideas and they certainly can’t win in the meme wars.  So banished we must be.

And that is why we need our own platforms.  So far, we’re laughably outgunned everywhere we look.  Something like Facebook has a membership in the billions.  So even looking at something like Gab which has had a huge influx of displaced non-leftists is dwarfed by a factor of almost a thousand to one.  And there is absolutely no comparison to the monetary discrepancy.  We’re microscopic.

But even a site like this, which is invisible to Google, is important.  That’s because it gives us a place to go where we can say what we believe without being shut down or told we’re evil.  And we can come here to hear and tell news.  I’ve found some very interesting links from readers who shared them in the comments.

And even more important it gives us a sense of being part of something extended in space.  There are people from all fifty states and other countries who come here.  Some come for movie and book reviews.  Some come for photography articles.  But most come to read something by people on our side of the aisle.  Some disagree with what I have to say.  Some have already abandoned the mainstream parties and are waiting for some catastrophe to reset the existing order and provide an opportunity for regime change.  Much of what they say about society is deadly accurate.  I do differ with them on the conclusions they draw about what is and isn’t possible in the way of reform.  And I don’t deny that I could be wrong and they could be right.  But currently I haven’t given up on the future of the United States.  I think there may be scenarios where the red and blue states agree to disagree and allow a looser federalism on these freedoms that we want.  This would be similar to how some states have ignored the federal illegal status of cannabis.

I find the range of opinions on the Right healthy.  None of us really know how any of this is going to end up.  But talking to other people provides me with feedback.  For the most part we don’t have very heated arguments like some of the ones I’ve seen elsewhere but screaming matches aren’t really necessary.  Twenty or thirty words is sometimes more than enough to allow someone to make a point.

One thing I would be interested in is hearing more from the next generations.  Tyler from the Portly Politico comes here often and it’s obvious that he’s not of my generation.  But I wish I had a dozen more of the kids here.  If you know of any younger folks on the Right, please send them a link.  I think they are the most important people for us to reach.  I think exposing them to the things that are now essentially excluded from the mainstream social media sites is vitally important.  And I think it’s an easy sell.  The present-day culture is thin.  From a male perspective it’s weak and boring.  Comparing the model of traditional family life to the deracinated Gaia worship currently passing for a lifestyle should be a slam dunk.

So, I’ll say I think Andrew Breitbart was correct.  We need to win the culture war but up until today we haven’t even shown up on the battlefield.  But there’s no time like the present so I do my part and I encourage everyone to join in and even invite new faces especially the young to participate.  So, rightists of the world unite.  Throw off your chains of Facebook and flock to orionscoldfire.com where the cool kids hang out.

18JUL2021 – OCF Update – Yalta II

So yesterday was a small get together with some folks on our side of the aisle.  The guys came over with the wives.  And Camera Girl and I hosted a barbecue and food fest.  One of the guys is really expert at grilling rib-eye steaks.  And he did the honors to a tee.  To her credit Camera Girl bought the biggest, tenderest steaks despite her anger at the outrageous prices.  She is a frugal woman which is good since I’m a notorious wastrel.  Between the various hors d’oeuvres, desserts and side dishes I ate myself into a semi-coma.

But it was worth it.  It was a great time.  We barely mentioned politics and instead spent the time catching up on personal stuff.  I enforced the segregation by sex.  It was the boys on this couch and the girls on that one.  And that was how nature intended it to be.  Of course I always keep one ear pricked up in case Camera Girl starts spreading seditious propaganda against me.  She is a mutinous wench.  But she behaved herself for the most part.

So today we’ll catch up on stuff we put aside for the party prep but things will go smoothly now.  Speaking meteorologically the endless torrential rain has continued I’ll have to drain another 3 or 4 inches of rain from yesterday and last night.  Between the pounding rain and the lightning and thunder, the dogs are demoralized and despondent which seems okay by me but Camera Girl is sad.  The hounds are her babies and she dotes on their every need.  Bah!

I think I’ll do some movie reviews this week.  There’s something to be said about being happy.  Yesterday reminded of that.  Sure it’s important to fight back against the Leftist Losers but you’ve got to make time to live your life too.  A friend said I should review another Nick Cage movie called “Pig.”  Apparently Cage is a man of the land in this movie and he uses a pig to hunt truffles for sale to rich people.  Somehow he is wronged by someone.  Hopefully he goes on a rage-fueled rampage of vengeance against someone or other.  Well, that’s what I hope anyway.  But we’ll see.

So stay tuned I should have content up today.

What Would It Look Like If We Drained the Deep State Swamp?

After more than a decade of the FBI and the alphabet agencies routinely using illegal intel on Americans to control us, I wondered what it would be like to put a stop to it.  So, this is a thought experiment because, let’s face it, what we’re talking about is as theoretical as contemplating faster than light space travel.

First off, who could do it?  We saw Donald Trump successfully stopped in his attempts to even install a functioning attorney general.  Twice!  So, I guess the first question is would a president on his own be able to clean out the intelligence agencies?  Would he need supermajorities in the Congress and a friendly Supreme Court?

Actually, I don’t think he would.  What he would need is the military on his side.  Because I think the only thing that could bring these agencies to heel is the threat of military force.  If the FBI saw a brigade of US soldiers backed up by a tank or two, I think they’d stand down.

And that is what I’d suggest is the way to do it.  My guess at a plan is to announce to the country that I am demanding the resignation of the top three tiers of organization of the Justice Department, the FBI, the CIA, the NSA and the rest of the intel agencies and I would warn them that if they didn’t comply within a day, they would be escorted out by armed troops.

Then I would appoint some interim personnel to dig down and eliminate anyone who wouldn’t immediately cooperate with the new authority being established.  Following that I’d find any existing personnel who would be willing to provide information on the “Resistance.”  And I would quickly move onto prosecuting the people responsible for the heinous events of the last few years.

After that I’d say the priority would be to pull the teeth of the beast.  The Patriot Act needs to be declared unconstitutional and the intelligence apparatus needs to learn again that American citizens actually have the freedoms enumerated in the Bill of Rights including the ones having to do with unlawful search.

By the way, I’m fully aware that the people who run these agencies will us every means within their control to destroy the people attempting to bring them down.  Threats and leaks of embarrassing or criminal conduct are sure to be used.  I wouldn’t be surprised if assassination were to be used.  After all the CIA specializes in that sort of thing.

What kind of a man would have the wherewithal to implement such an action?  First of all, he would need a team.  Whoever is selected to be the attorney general must be willing to stand up against the threats and coercion that will be thrown at him.  It’s obvious that Trump’s first attorney general Jeff Sessions was cowed by pressure that was brought to bear against him.  My guess is that they had embarrassing or criminal evidence against him and used it to force him to give up control of the Justice Department to the office holders that Obama had in place.

He’ll also need IT resources to investigate the tangled and troubling data collection capabilities that the agencies and the tech companies have assembled.  That will be a monumental job.

And finally, it will require taking back control of the borders and identifying all the illegal aliens residing in the country.  These individuals are the real threat to our security.  If a terrorist threat appears that is where it will come from.  The FBI and CIA should be concentrating on non-citizens and using the high-tech gadgetry they possess to preventing the next Sept. 11 attack coming from foreign agents, not spying on innocent Americans whose only sin is not being Democrats.
