2020 Choice – Stand or Grovel

This election will be the perfect indicator of whether or not we have been overwhelmed by the rot that has beset our institutions for the last hundred years.  A starker choice could not be imagined.  The foaming-at-the-mouth Left has dropped the mask completely.  They have embraced the mob in all its nihilistic rage and unleashed it on the citizens of the blue states and the blue cities.  Seattle has gone as far as setting up a killing zone in their capitol where the mob patrols with machine guns and doles out death to the black lives that supposedly they are representing.  It’s like something out of Pol Pot.

If the election does go to Biden you can argue whether voter fraud, or dislike of President Trump by white women or demographics was the deciding factor but what will be undeniable is that a new nation will be dominant inside the geographic boundaries of what used to be America.  The millennials will soon be the dominant cohort within the American demographic and if they decide that what is going on in the streets of our cities is acceptable then nothing will deflect us from the course that the Left is plotting.

So let’s take it one step further, even if President Trump wins this election but only just barely, that still tells me that we are changing for the worse.  What happened in 1968, the rioting and the arson, was still an aberration that shocked the country and galvanized the population to support a law and order candidate in President Nixon, to clean up the problem.  If we don’t see the same reaction to the even more disturbing violence and anarchy gripping our cities this year then it speaks of a loss of will.

Someone might say that it is the propaganda by the media and the kowtowing by the corporations that is misleading Americans.  That these normal people have been fooled by the narrative that the rioting is a reasonable reaction to systemic racism in the police and in American society.  But that is nonsense.  Only someone already brainwashed by the Left could mistake what is happening for reasonable.  Anyone with even a trace of self-respect and an iota of common sense would see what’s happening as an attack on the foundations of our identity and the symbols of the greatest and best country in the history of mankind.

If we do not see a resounding victory for the Right then we are heading down a road to serfdom.  It is possible that through the efforts of a Trump administration we can begin to change direction and change the institutions that have brought about this problem.  With the right Supreme Court and with legislation and enforcement by the DOJ many harmful practices could be suppressed.  But with the current slender majority in the Senate and the Democrat majority in the House and the unreliable nature of the Supreme Court it seems unlikely that much will be done.

So that is why I see this election as a barometer.  If President Trump wins a decisive victory and we pick up seats in the Senate and retake the majority in the House then I see a sliver of hope that there is still enough of the silent majority to allow us to try and turn this thing around together as the United States of America.  If that happens, we stand.  Anything else tells me that the future will require groveling and that is something I won’t stick around for.

Tuning In and Tuning Out – Part I

During a recent discussion I was having with a friend, I was told to stop worrying about the culture wars because, “It’s not ideological, it’s just the globalists pitting people against each other to maximize their profits.”  I couldn’t convince my friend that this wasn’t very comforting.  Knowing that the Elite that offshores our jobs and the rabid Leftists who want to destroy everything normal and wholesome in our live aren’t really ideological allies is cold comfort because despite their differences they have managed between them to destroy the United States of America.

But one good comes from the realization that the old America is gone.  You no longer have to try to fix the country.  There are just two things you have to do.  You have to look for the good things that are out there and tune into them and strengthen them.  And you have to tune out the bad things and insulate yourself from them and do whatever you can to weaken them.

Easier said than done.  Try if you can, to figure out how to do those two things.  Think of examples from your daily life.  For instance, during the recent riots my employer decided to have managers engage their direct reports about injustice toward blacks in America.  So, I’m listening over the computer to a Canadian telling us that he hadn’t heard of “Juneteenth” before.  And then he wanted to know if we had any thoughts.  Well, what I wanted to do was tell him that since the rioters had looted and burned down the downtown areas of numerous American cities, I no longer cared about their centuries-old tribulations.  But that would have been unwise if I wanted to keep getting a paycheck from them.  What I did do was tune this nonsense out.  I actually spent the time while this sermonizing was going on checking my e-mail and replying to some comments on this site.  And because of that I felt better.

And as far as tuning in, I spent time last week reading a couple of authors from our side of the political spectrum.  Larry Correia, the author of the Grimnoir series was the leader of the revolt of science fiction authors against the social justice school of science fiction.  He led the Sad Puppies movement that revealed the Hugo Awards as the social justice fraud that it really is.  And he writes fantasy stories that are 100% free of political correctness and social justice whining.  And Jason Anspach and Nick Cole’s Galaxy’s Edge series is a military science fiction breath of fresh air in a world of Star Wars gender confused losers.  Enjoying those books and spreading the word on them is my way of tuning in to a part of the world that I want to strengthen.  And because of that I felt better.

In that way, I can endure the endless betrayals of John Roberts and the other traitors to America that daily sully the news with their crimes.  I can endure the cowards on the supposed right and the thugs and lunatics on the Left and the corporatist parasites who work to sell off what is left of the nation.  I concentrate on what is good and do my small part to pass the word along.  And I work to help the people in my locale who are on my side.  I first off, help my family and my friends.  Then I work outward to my acquaintances.  And that can be fertile ground.  I’ve found like minded people at work where I never expected it.  It can open up your circle of friends dramatically.  Making new links and building new friendships is exciting and makes life better.

Your life is very valuable.  Your happiness is also valuable.  When the Leftists commit their atrocities, your misery is part of their victory.  Your unhappiness weakens you and it weakens our side collectively.  And, conversely, when you are happy it strengthens our side.  That’s part of the logic of this shutdown.  The unhappiness and loneliness it breeds is demoralizing.  But if you can tune out the psyops propaganda then they lose and we win.

So, come on.  Strike a blow for our side.  Call a friend and set up a party or a poker game.  Or just get in touch with an old friend you haven’t spoken to in an age and say hi.  Send a good book or a link to a good article (maybe this one) to someone who is on our side of the fence.  Contribute to President Trump’s re-election campaign.

And tune out the nonsense from the other side.  Ignore the doom and gloom.  Stop worrying about the elections.  Stop worrying about the COVID stuff.  Stop worrying about the House and the Senate and the Supreme Court.  None of those things are helped by you worrying.  Sure, you can convince people on our side to vote and you can make sure you do too.  But you aren’t going to turn any tides by yourself so stop worrying.

There, don’t you feel a little better already?  I do because writing this is my way of tuning in.

Is It Possible the Flynn Persecution is Finally Over?

The Appeals Court ruled by a two to one vote to order U.S. District Judge Emmet Sullivan to stop torturing General Flynn and dismiss the case.  Of course I’m waiting for Sullivan to appeal to a higher court or just to defy the order.  We’ll have to wait to see if this is the end but it’s surely a step in the right direction.

This may be a good test for what kind of judicial and bureaucratic disobedience we’ll see in the future.  With the Supreme Court defying the Constitution at every turn and the Deep State in open revolt I won’t be surprised by any illegal actions taken by our enemies.  But it certainly will open a lot of eyes that have been sleepwalking for years.

A Well Needed Shot in the Arm

Over the weekend I was attending a family event that kept me off the internet for almost the entirety of Friday and Saturday.  The events of last week, the rioting and the Supreme Court betrayals had soured my outlook severely.

It was a very enjoyable gathering and I had a lot of fun with my family.  But that didn’t relieve the gloom I was feeling for the events going on in the larger world.  Saturday night after most of the attendees had left I was sitting down in front of the television with my host for the weekend and we saw that President Trump’s rally in Tulsa was taking place so we tuned in.

And from the very start my mood improved and I was laughing at all the stories he was relating about how the fake news twisted the events of his West Point appearance and all the other anecdotes he had for the speech.  And the two of us agreed that we had to get to one of these rallies.  It was just too much fun not to get involved in.

And another thing I noticed was that just watching the President glibly controlling the stage reminded me why the idea of Creepy Uncle Joe debating President Trump was laughably absurd.  Watching any of Biden’s recent television appearances or commercials makes it painfully obvious that he can no longer string together a coherent English sentence.

Of course, I didn’t become giddy from watching the rally.  I still feel that the Supreme Court has proven itself hostile to the Constitution.  I recognize that it almost certain that it will take, at the least, civil disobedience by state governments to protect us from unconstitutional laws.  It will be necessary to live in a red state to hope to avoid being subjected to the progressive straitjacket of laws and social bullying that schools, government agencies and suppliant corporations supply.

But it’s easy to become discouraged.  It’s easy to forget that this is a President who perseveres over whatever catastrophe is thrown at him; pandemics, race riots, biased judges, a biased Supreme Court, rogue intelligence agencies, biased and dishonest media organizations, you name it.  He shrugs it off and he keeps pushing forward.  But it’s important to reflect on the President’s strength and resilience because it is just those qualities that allow him to rally his constituents and thereby discourage his enemies.

So, thank you Donald Trump for a boost, a shot in the arm, a reminder.  In a country where bureaucrats, judges, politicians, media talking heads and academic experts will tell you that your opinions are outmoded and outnumbered by the Cloud People and their allies, the Rioters, it’s good to know there is one man who is unafraid and undeterred by all these liars and losers.  He speaks up for us and he speaks up for himself and with him running the country we still are able to keep a modicum of freedom, a little bit of our dignity and as it turns out, even a good chunk of our sense of humor.  Thank you President Trump.

What Are the Priorities for Us in the New America of Neil Gorsuch, BLM and Antifa?

So here we are, the newly minted super-conservative Justice Gorsuch finds transgender rights in the Constitution of the United States.  And under the reliably spineless leadership of John Roberts every major case from illegal immigrants to Second Amendment rights were dynamited against us.  And there was absolutely no fig leaf for any of these decisions.  The Supreme Court is a disaster.  I no longer expect any relief from that Court.

Add onto this problem that Antifa and BLM are now the official enforcement wing of the Democrat party.  In any jurisdiction federal, state or local where they have cover from Democrat elected officials, they are shown to be ready, willing and able to wage literal war up to and including murder and arson against their enemies.  Living in a blue state or even a blue city is tantamount to living in Mao’s Cultural Revolution.  At any time, you can be sucked into a purge or pogrom that really has no limits on what can happen.  Your rights in these jurisdictions do not exist as such.  They can be overridden with no notice and are subject to amendment whenever circumstances make the ruling coalition think they would benefit from it.

Those are the conditions on the ground.  Where does that leave us?

From my point of view that precludes certain strategies.  With the clarification of the role of the Supreme Court I would say any idea that unconstitutional actions will be struck down nationally and thereby benefit people living in blue states is sheer fantasy.  Nothing will be done to restrain places like California, New England, or New York.  They will just make things continually worse until you knuckle under and learn to love Big Brother or leave.

I suppose there are strategies to hide in plain sight in places like these.  I know people who say they can avoid the consequences of living under these regimes and still enjoy life.  I confess I do not possess the coping skills that must be needed to hide your feelings when living in the belly of the beast.  My daily interactions here in New England with the true believers involve mind boggling levels of cognitive dissonance.  It takes every ounce of self-control not to laugh in their faces or explain why the things being claimed are patently absurd.

The alternative then is to revolt against these laws.  Ignoring them or avoiding them by stealth is becoming harder and harder in these places.  Ultimately control over all aspects of life is becoming more stringent everywhere but especially in these blue states.  To the extent that it can be done I suppose that will be the strategy for conservatives living in these areas.  You will have to go underground.  And this means as far as raising children you’ll have to figure out how to work around the indoctrination of the schools and other social settings that the Left has taken over.  This is the Benedict Option that Rod Dreher has talked about.  Ultimately, it’s a temporary measure because eventually they will eliminate freedom of religion entirely.

But from my point of view, the best idea is to live in a deep red state where the political leaders have the means to craft laws that protect their citizens from the unconstitutional consequences of the Supreme Court.  They can make a law upholding the freedom of religion in the Bill of Rights and when the Supreme Court strikes it down the Governor can defy the Supreme Court and say he will protect any of his citizens from federal prosecution.  I could see blanket pardons being handed out on a rolling basis and the bureaucrats in Washington spinning out of control as the President refuses to step in.

A number of states following a plan like this would eventually produce a situation on the ground where essentially you would have two legal entities hidden within one name.  This is sort of like the situation we currently have with marijuana use.  At the federal level and in half of the states it is illegal but in states like California and Colorado it is big business.  The same thing should be pushed as hard as possible for as many different parts of the law as possible.  Just as things like sanctuary cities and legalization of drugs have been dispiriting for our side, freedom of religion would be very dispiriting for them.  It would even have an impact on migration of leftists into red states.  If there weren’t the lifestyle protections available to them, they would be much less likely to inhabit these areas.

So essentially what I am saying is that the deep red states are the only remaining points of resistance to the encroachment of Leftist control.  Everything else has already been conquered.  They will need to be the catalyst for change and that can only happen in conjunction with the four-year protection provided by the beginning of a conservative President’s term.

Hopefully a revolt at the state level will begin and President Trump’s second term will provide that needed protection.

Politico Is Getting Nervous Again Already

I love it when all the fake polls have Creepy Uncle Joe up by a million points and yet they get upset when all the Republicans don’t seem phased at all.  Politico goes around and asks all the Republicans in the country if they are ready to concede and they answer with the phrase Trump Landslide.  Looks like I might be right about how soccer moms react when Antifa and BLM heads into the suburbs.  They look for someone who will hold them off.

But, but terrible poll results!  Fake.  COVID-19 resurgence!  Nope.  Cities burning!  Your cities.  It’s the economy stupid!  It’s improving by the day.

What’s next?  Flaming hail from the sky?  Well fireworks are always nice around the 4th of July.

Have They Had Enough Yet?

Now that most of arson fires have gone out and Antifa is back in its parents’ basements, I’ve started to think about how the President’s campaign should address the riots.  Naturally there will be the usual lip service to the need to correct problems with police practices and ways of identifying rogue officers, etc., etc., etc.

But if I were framing the argument, I’d put it to the voters like this.  Even knowing that there are dishonest and even criminal police officers out there, would you rather live in a place policed by the current police force or by some combination of BLM and Antifa?

In places like Seattle, San Francisco, Portland and Minneapolis they might vote for BLM and Antifa.  But they won’t in Michigan or Pennsylvania or even Wisconsin.  Hell, even most of the people in Minnesota outside of Minneapolis must be appalled.  The people in those states watched as the mayors of blue cities in their states capitulated to the rioters and let them loot stores and burn them down.  Even the governors treated the rioters with kid gloves hesitating to let the National Guard subdue the protests and arrest the perpetrators.  In these places I’m guessing that the dominant sentiment is how do we get new governors who will protect us from the monster that the progressive cities have created.  They’ve seen that the next place the rioters want to go is into the suburbs and countryside to terrorize the non-urban populations surrounding their hellhole homes.

I’d have a commercial that features Minneapolis and New York City in flames and police chiefs, mayors, governors and Joe Biden on their knees.  I’d show that Minneapolis police precinct being abandoned and then that idiot Mayor Frey running away from a crowd of BLM and Antifa followers.

And as valuable as this will be in the Presidential campaign, I think it will also be effective for the rest of the ticket.  Races for mayor and governor of several cities and states should be affected by the actions that several of the incumbents took during the riots.  And even office holders who aren’t up for re-election soon should worry that recall votes may be started against them.  As for congressional and senate seats, the same kind of commercials showing Pelosi and Schumer on their knees wearing their matching colorful prayer shawls should be highly effective.

And I’d make sure that the film clips showed all the gory details.  Show the picture of the white Antifa guys taking a sledge hammer to the security gates to let the looters into a store.  And the Antifa guys with the rock hammers tearing up curbstones to assault the police with.  Show that shop owner in Dallas crumpled on the sidewalk like a dead animal.  Show the old woman in Buffalo being beaten with a two by four by thugs.  Show the woman in Minneapolis in a wheelchair being tormented by a mob and doused with a fire extinguisher.  Show the footage of the retired police captain from St. Louis being gunned down trying to protect his friend’s store.  This one should be especially poignant considering that the officer is black.

Show a couple of the interviews with the sick old ladies living in the inner city neighborhoods that have just been looted and burned and listen to them cry because now their grocery store and their drug store are gone and they have to travel an hour by bus to get to a place that isn’t burned out.

Play the interview with the black businessman in Minneapolis whose sports bar was gutted and torched, whose life savings are now gone.

I’ve even got the tag line to end each of these commercials:

“Had enough?  Vote Republican and stop the madness.”

And all this has the added benefit that it’s actually 100% true.  Even in blue states the majority of the voters aren’t inner city denizens.  Most of the voters are middle- and working-class people.  When they finally have had enough of the madness, they will vote for someone who will stop it.  So, the only question is, have they had enough yet?

UPDATE:

I held this up last night to see how the fallout from the Atlanta police arrest killing would play out.  This situation is going to repeat indefinitely.  Apparently, the new dynamic for black criminals is to resist arrest by any and all means.  Apparently suicide by cop is the new normal and considering the lives some of these folks live it probably doesn’t seem like a bad option.  That is going to make the BLM crowd shout twice as loud.  But it still leaves the same choice for the voters.  If you’re a middle-class American living in the suburbs are you happier with the police trying to maintain some semblance of order in the dangerous Democrat cities or would you like there to be warlords and thug armies in charge like in Mexico and other failed states.  Seems a pretty easy answer but maybe knuckling under is the new American way.  Time will tell.

14JUN2020 – OCF Update – Things Seem to be Accelerating

So today is the President’s birthday.  I wish it would be a more peaceful time for him but that is not in the cards.  But I wish for him the strength he’ll need to deal with the madness that is engulfing our world.

I have a post I wrote yesterday but it already is somewhat overtaken by events.  I may strengthen it or just skip it.  Things are accelerating and we may see resolution of some things and new priorities emerging.  But certain things still hold.  Ground yourself in reality and focus on the things that will be important to you regardless of the outcome of political and cultural events.

We’re getting into unknown territory.  Some of the rules we thought were laws of nature are starting to break down.  Don’t take too much for granted.  Situational awareness could be very important.  If you live in or adjacent to unstable areas be especially careful until things settle down.  Keep in touch with family members and be ready to lend support if the need arises.

So as Sgt. Phil Esterhaus used to say on Hill Street Blues, “let’s be careful out there.”

Take That Knee Joe

Well, if you’re going to have a civil war you need two sets of uniforms, flags and songs to go with it.  The Left will certainly have no problem getting the degenerate music industry to sing them songs.  If we’re lucky Toby Keith will let us use the Angry American.  We haven’t finished the whole duplication process but I guess we can have the American flag all to ourselves.  Apparently, leftists will kneel to avoid recognizing the flag as their own.  Initially we’ll see the patrons at sports games start segregating between those who stand and those who don’t.  Maybe the two sides can be called the Stand-Up-Right and the Left-On-Its-Knees.  But how about NASCAR and the NHL?  It’s entirely possible that even these organizations will knuckle under and start taking a knee during the anthem.  I’m guessing that NFL attendance and viewership will plummet again this year.

But that opens up opportunities to events and organizations that are willing to honor the flag and thereby take advantage of a legitimate American symbol that can’t be easily vilified in the eyes of the normal American population.  It makes perfect sense for us to maximize the use of the flag while our enemies will have to virtue signal on their knees.  Even the Democrat and Republican conventions this year should be a real eye opener.  One will be patriotic and celebratory, the other will be an exhibition of submission and shame.  How can we ask for more than that?

I feel kind of inspired.  I think I’ll look into a fifty foot flag pole and a nice big flag.  Who knows, maybe I’ll decide to paint a big Old Glory on the side of my house.  One side doesn’t have windows and would be perfect as a canvas.

But the point is we own the flag and playing the anthem can be our own celebration.  We don’t have to be guilty or ashamed we can just feel proud that the Left has abandoned it.  For instance, if at the Republican convention Mitt Romney takes a knee during the anthem we should have two really big guys grab him by the arms and legs and toss him onto the street while the whole thing is filmed on the big screen for everyone to cheer.

It seems perfectly clear that the Left is going to go all out on radicalizing the Anti-American stance of the Democrat party during this election season.  And I think it’s a fantastic idea.  We should embrace it with both arms and draw the comparison wherever and whenever the opportunity arises.  For starters we should compare the results in leftist jurisdictions like Minneapolis and New York City with places like Boise ID and Cheyenne WY.  Instead of looting and arson you had a well-armed citizenry present to make sure “protestors” stayed peaceful.

That should be the message that President Trump and the Republicans send to the swing states.  They have a choice to embrace freedom, law and order and normalcy with us or they can go with the Democrats and kneel to their new masters, the depraved angry mob that will take everything they have; their wealth, their homes, their freedom, their children and eventually their lives and will still want more.

You’d think it would be a pretty easy choice.  But we don’t have the megaphone they do.  We’re going to have to pay for our message to get out while theirs will be trumpeted by every branch and tendril of the Woke Media.  From Google, Facebook and Twitter to the tv networks and newspapers there will be only one message.  They will try to frighten and shame women and weak men into submission to their narrative of defeat.

My bets on us.  I notice they’ve been hyping the Biden numbers lately.  I hope they can get the betting odds long on Trump so I can make some decent money when he wins.  I made money in 2016 but not enough.  Hopefully this time I can make a bundle.  Take that knee Joe, take that knee.

I Suppose This is the Civil War

When all the major cities in your nation are burning and the police are under attack on the streets they are supposed to protect and the perpetrators are alleged citizens of your country then I guess you could call that civil war.

It’s a little hard to know because similar things have happened a number of times before and each time, we had some other name.  Unrest, outrage, protest.  And the actions of Antifa muddy the waters somewhat because they are anarchists and in a sense aren’t normal Americans (whatever that means today).  But with whatever caveats and reservations attached, there are now two groups in this country that cannot be reconciled to each other.  One group has allegiance to the American republic that existed before the 1960s and another one that wants to tear all that down.

The 2020 election will be a proxy for this clash.  We’ll see if the center can hold.  The danger is whether enough women will be cowed by the violence and capitulate.  Women (and millennials) are easily frightened and also easily manipulated by the media.  It plays on their emotions and elicits feelings of fear and guilt by confusing who is the victim and who is the perpetrator; what is reasonable and what is rash; what is justified and what is cruel.

I said the election is a proxy for the war but won’t end it either way.  If President Trump wins, which I think he will, the other side will get even crazier.  It’s hard to imagine how they’ll top this week but they will.  At this point I don’t think there is any action that is out of the question from their side.  And I mean that literally.

Now, if they win, I expect a combination of things.  There will be a lot of that talk about reaching across the aisle and reaching consensus as a smokescreen for a barrage of executive orders to consolidate control of the population.  This will involve first and second amendment curtailments.

So, either way the war will go on but I won’t pretend I don’t care who wins the election.  Winning it is the chance to act openly and stick it to our enemies.  Winning this election will finally win the Battle of the Supreme Court.  And I see that as the only avenue to finally liberate our side from the unconstitutional restrictions on free association and all the other infringements that the social justice regime has inflicted on us over the last fifty years.  Red States can write their own laws and an originalist Supreme Court can back their play and unchain the American people from virtual slavery.

Looking at the rioting and looting that has gone on in the last few days I think we may be looking at an inflection point.  New York came back from bankruptcy and anarchy in the late 80s by facing down the ancestors of the people who ripped it apart this week.  Back then they said to the criminals and losers that they wouldn’t allow lawlessness to destroy the life of the city.  But I don’t think that’s going to happen again.  The rich have coopted the neighborhoods that the middle class lived in.  They’ve filled the city with hipsters and other idiot relations of the rich.  Those people will fold like a cheap suit.  They will grovel in front of the underclass that just burned their city down.  But the major change now will be the nature of law enforcement in New York.  The cops’ hands were tied after the Black Lives Matter travesty during the Obama administration and they backed off and let crime blossom.  But that will be nothing compared to the new balance of power.  First off there will be a move to replace white men with women and minorities in a wholesale fashion in the NYPD.  And the new “more humane” laws will be a dream come true for criminals of all stripes.  But it will turn the city into a nightmare for businessmen and honest citizens in general.  I expect flight from New York to be a long term and possibly terminal event.

The rioting has done great damage to property and has demoralized the people living there.  But the event is an object lesson for anyone who is unsure of what each side stands for.  The Democrats will sacrifice the livelihood and even the lives of its citizens to appease a mob of irrational people who also happen to vote for them.  Appeasement is their stock in trade.  If you’d rather that the government protected and respected the honest hardworking people out there then you’ll have to join our side of the Civil War.
