Valentine’s Day 2022

February 14th is Valentine’s Day and being incredibly romantic I reminded Camera Girl of this important holiday.  I asked if she would make a heart out of red construction paper  for me to signify her undying love.  She made rude noises.  Luckily I can decode that as good natured fun.

Now being of the generation of which I am, my ideas about love and Valentine’s Day are inextricably intertwined with what I learned watching the Little Rascals.  Alfalfa, that star-crossed Lothario was endlessly frustrated in the pursuit of Darla, that femme fatale of the pre-adolescent set.  In the Valentine’s Day episode his pursuit of Darla is foiled by the machinations of Spanky.  Apparently Alfalfa was an officer of the He-Man Woman Hater’s Club (a noble fellowship if there ever was one) and because of his oath breaking over Darla Spanky punished Alfalfa by replacing the swiss cheese with soap in the Valentine’s Day sandwich that Darla had made for Alfalfa.

And that lesson has been with me for almost sixty years, trust but verify.  I always check cheese in a sandwich before eating.  Happy Valentine’s Day.

Pissed Off Canadians

Over at Larry Correia’s site there was a post on the Trucker’s Protest on the Windsor Bridge crossing.  Anyway in the comments a Canadian calling himself “The Phantom” had some very interesting comments about the popularity of the protest with the regular Canadians:

“Second, I live almost 2 hours from Toronto and 6 hours from Ottawa, out in the sticks down by Lake Erie. It is farm country, there’s nothing going on around here. Cows and snowbanks right now. So, the fun part is that every time I leave the house to go to the store or what have you, there are Freedom Convoy signs and Canadian flags on random pickup trucks. People have been lining up hay bales in their fields next to the road and painting them with slogans. Idle tractors sitting in driveways have a Canadian flag tied to a hockey stick flying on them. There was a big John Deere parked at the Tim Horton’s in Cayuga on Hwy 3 the other day with a Freedom Convoy sign and a flag.

It’s not just the truckers now. The government has been pissing off the Normies for two years now, and the dam finally broke. Present situation today is that roughly everything you see on Canadian media is a lie, and the crowds of protesters are the regular Jane and Joe Canadian who are tired of lockdowns, masks and vaccine mandates. They’ve had it, and they’re starting to look at how they want to piss off the government today.”

Maybe the Canadians will make some changes in their government.

We Don’t Get Fooled Again

Here’s a link to a post over at Mogadishu Matt.  There’s a video clip that analyzes the type of hero worship that is exhibited in the movie Fight Club and that ties in with Matt’s post.  And there are some interesting comments below the post.

Matt talks about some very real problems that we have all experienced trying to find leaders to work for us against the Left.  I had that experience with George W. Bush.  He wasn’t who he claimed to be.  But why didn’t I see that.  Maybe because he was the only choice available.  We were spoon fed that choice.  We were desperate for a leader who was on our side.  When we get a chance to pick a leader in three years will we do better this time?  I think so, I hope so, but I don’t know so.  I hope we don’t get fooled again.

13FEB2022 – OCF Update – Return of Winter and the Mallards

So, instead of an inch of snow as promised, we’re getting six inches.  Yay!  But at least the mallards have returned from Capistrano.  For a number of years (at least 3 or 4, maybe more) a pair of mallards show up every late winter/spring and raise a family.  I tried to get their portraits this morning but they were shy and swam off.  Above is a picture from a couple of years ago.

Snow removal will be a part of the daily chores today and tomorrow morning.  Yay!

I noticed Leftists are jumping on the anti-mandate bandwagon.  That’s how you know it’s over.  The big line is, “It’s not left vs. right, man, it’s about freedom and that’s groovy, baby.”  It won’t be long before Joe Biden will be trumpeting his courageous victory over COVID and the return of freedom.  These people make me sick.

I saw an article where Pfizer is starting to prepare stockholders for the fallout from vaccine safety failures.  They’re going to have to explain how they let dangerous drugs be pushed on children.  And Dementia Joe will too.  With any luck Fauci and those at FDA left holding the bag will be fired.  Prison would be more fitting.

Canada has indeed been red-pilled.  Trudeau will be voted out at the next opportunity and I’m guessing it will be sooner than later.  How that changes thing in that country is difficult to say.  They have even more sheep than we do, hard as that is to believe.  They’ll probably just fall right back into old patterns.  Maybe we will too.  But maybe not all places.  The happenings of the last fifteen years may finally be enough to spark a permanent revolt in some areas of the country.  That’s my hope.

And just to cheer myself up on a day that looks like it will be long here’s something from the way back machine.

How Dangerous Are the COVID Vaccines?

I watched Robert Malone’s interview with Tucker Carlson.  Toward the end of the video Malone discusses the toxicity of the spike protein and how its effect in an injected form such as the vaccine can have extreme consequences.  And then he mentions the Department of Defense’s (DoD) adverse effects data on the vaccines and mentioned that frequencies of adverse effects like cancer and myocarditis have shown, in some cases, a ten-fold increase.  Now, the DoD is claiming that somehow the previous years’ data is somehow at fault and actually the tenfold increase is really the normal baseline.  Malone indicates in his discussion that this is most probably a lie.  Watching this has further increased my fears for the younger members of my family who have been vaccinated.  For older folks such as myself the impact of the mRNA technology on my physiology is troubling but since I don’t expect to live another sixty or seventy years (thankfully) I am not as at risk as adolescents and young adults.  For them this is truly frightening news.  And the idea that they will continue to get “boosters” sounds like insanity.

The problem that the Biden administration will continue to shield the FDA and the vaccine manufacturers from the public learning of the safety problems with these vaccines is maddening.  The FDA’s primary function is to protect the public from dangerous medicines.  The true facts of the safety record of these vaccines must be revealed to allow Americans to gage whether their government is protecting them or not.  I remember last year several of the most senior FDA officials who oversaw vaccine testing resigned.  There was a reason for that.  When the Senate and House revert to Republican control, they must investigate these things.  If it’s as bad as it sounds, they will need to impeach Biden and his cronies and then force the FDA and the Justice Department to prosecute anyone who knew about these safety problems.

I realize that all this sounds like a lunatic conspiracy theory.  I’ve worked in the pharmaceutical industry for over two decades and I know that adverse effects are stringently recorded and analyzed for any new drug before allowing it to be used by the public.  If side effects have been observed for these drugs in any where near the frequency and severity that Malone indicates, these vaccines need to be banned for use by young people and maybe everyone else too.  There are treatments for COVID that can reduce the risk of serious illness even for the old and seriously ill.  Forcing the population to take a dangerous medicine that has very limited efficacy is criminally negligent.

If it turns out that people knew these things for months or even a year then jail time should be the minimum punishment.  I could imagine that the death penalty would be a reasonable sentence for someone who unleashed a potentially fatal vaccine on hundreds of millions of people.

How the hell did we ever get to this place?  When the American people can no longer believe its own government on something as fundamental as drug safety and the Media is complicit with that government in hiding the truth from us it quickly starts to sound like we’ve reached the levels of dishonesty and just plain evil that existed in the Soviet Union and its satellites.  I won’t be surprised when Biden and Harris flee the country in a while.  The question is where can they hide if this turns out as badly as it seems to be.

12FEB2022 – OCF Update – Not Beating a Brain Dead Horse

The day after posting “Dementia Joe Gets a Hat Trick” and “The Biden Presidency is Officially Failed” I think it behooves me to at least switch the club to my left hand, if for no other reason at least for the sake of symmetrical blood spatter patterns.  I haven’t seen any fresh evidence that Biden is still moving or even breathing so I’ll switch gears today and look for life affirming stuff.

Seriously, the Democrats are retreating from COVID so fast that soon they will claim it never happened.  I especially like those compilation videos that have Fauci and the rest of the mandate crowd contradicting their every pronouncement over and over.  We have to be able to display all this when the time comes.  What will be especially important is when the safety data on these vaccines finally get aired.  From what I’ve heard from Robert Malone, it’s horrendously bad.  The mRNA in these drugs have even been implicated in creating cancers.

What needs to be done is not just win the midterms.  What needs to be pushed is just how many wrong policies the Democrats have pushed in the last few years and the amount of damage these policies have caused.  Vaccine mandates, mask mandates, defund the police, sponsor and protect BLM riots, CRT, import millions of illegal aliens and transport them around the country, degrade the military, weaponize the Justice Department, turn the FBI into the Stasi.  It goes on and on.  The elections from now on have to be about delegitimizing the Democrat Party and rolling back their entire agenda.

It’s a sunny, almost balmy day here in Dunwich.  I plan to get out and take some photos of the retreating snow and ice in the brilliant light.  I’m sure to find something to complain about eventually but right now I want to get some air.

I’m finally reading the next Galaxy’s Edge installment “Legacies.”  I’ve fallen a few books behind because I waited for Legacies to come out in paperback but it never did.  Eventually I gave up and bought a hardcover copy at a good price.  Turned out to be an autographed copy!  The following episodes are available in paperback so I’ll catch up up soon enough.

The ZMan is Fed Up

As is my custom on Fridays, I listened to the ZMan’s Friday podcast today.  It was a little bit of a departure in format and content for him.  He did a free form rant about whatever he wanted to talk about.  He hit on the Canadian Trucker Protest and had some good things to say about that.  He discussed the economy and the strange way the numbers on unemployment, industrial output and the stock market performance now seem completely disconnected from the past relationships these factors had on each other.  He discussed the Joe Rogan nonsense as it related to anti-white racism and he talked about the recent nonsense about there not being enough black head coaches in the NFL.

But one thing I noticed about his comments in general was that there is definitely a sense of exhaustion with talking about things that the powers that be completely ignore but which are obvious from simple logic.  He says he’s fed up with commenting on the fact that manufactured outrages like Joe Rogan saying politically incorrect things ten or twenty years ago are obviously manufactured.  He no longer wants to try to educate anyone who still doesn’t get these things.  And he mentioned that some of these things are finally, finally percolating up to the “legitimate” circles of the media and politics.  He even stated that some of these circles read his stuff regularly and even contact him from time to time.

And that I find very interesting.  I’m trying to imagine a podcast with the ZMan and, for instance, someone like Michael Anton or Curtis Yarvin discussing the real solutions to the mess we’re in.  Now how that would come about is not clear to me.  The ZMan has blasphemed against the blank slate countless times.  Speaking to him is a sin comparable to throwing puppies and kittens into a shark tank.  It’s a crime that will not be forgiven.  But it is a fascinating idea because that kind of a conversation is exactly what needs to occur.  The dissident right and the mainstream right need to equilibrate.  Those two groups need to talk.  Once the mainstream is allowed to talk about these issues, they can start to address the reality of where we are today.  Most of our problems have to do with making believe that nonsensical things are true.  We think that women can be soldiers and men wearing sundresses and wigs are women.  We’re willing to let children decide to have life altering surgeries based on things they’ve been told by crackpots.

Now I doubt that the ZMan will ever talk to Tucker Carlson but I do note that Tucker Carlson is starting to sound a lot like the ZMan.  And that is a very good and hopeful thing.  In the same way that the COVID wall is crumbling, the whole Leftist infrastructure is starting to alienate large swaths of the population.  And maybe, happening at the same time as the economy tanks and crime engulfs the Democrat cities there might be a chance that enough people will be fed up to allow real change to occur.  The real solutions are somewhere between the apocalypse desired by the dissidents and the nothing provided by the mainstream.  But a genuine dialog between the two is what is needed.

Anyway, that’s what the ZMan’s podcast got me thinking about today.

The Biden Presidency is Officially Failed

When CNN says a Democrat president is hated then you best believe it.  When the official mouthpiece of the Democrat party declares that there’s no hope of restoring Biden’s presidency in time to save the Senate then the fat lady has sung.

“So entrenched are America’s divides that it’s hard to see how Biden will get his approval rating up the 10 or 15 points or so that history suggests is a safer zone for the party of first-term presidents in midterm elections. Even sudden deliverance from Covid-19 and an economic spurt might not alter perceptions of a country in crisis, especially given the lack of a common national reality.”

Biden has lied and blustered blaming the people he has abused for the problems he has willingly fostered.  He’s bullied and lied to people on COVID and his green energy policies have ignited inflation that has devastated the economy especially for the working class.

2022 America is not 1989 Romania but the Progressives have abused us pretty badly in the last two years.  They better be careful.  A mob is an ugly thing.

Virginia Votes Into Law School Mask Choice for Parents to Decide

Virginia has legislated mask-choice for the parents to decide.  I say good for Youngkin.  He has kept faith with his electorate as have the new legislators voted in with him.  Sucks being those teachers and school boards who fought this tooth and claw.

“This move doesn’t merely enshrine mask-optional schools in the state, robbing leftist ‘resistance’-minded school boards of a core legal argument as they seek to ignore the governor’s Executive Order on this subject. It also establishes that “virtual” learning days (a dreadfully failed experiment) will not count toward state-required instruction days. In-person instruction is mandated. Excellent news. The measure will sail through the GOP-held lower house, and Gov. Glenn Youngkin is poised to sign it into law”
