Macaroni and Davos

The ZMan has a very interesting article at takimag.  As is his habit he edifies us about a 17th century English fad among the rich called macaroni, ” In mid-18th-century England, wealthy young British men began to adopt an outlandish fashion style known as the macaroni style. They wore giant powdered wigs with tiny hats on the top that could only be removed with the point of a sword. Their clothes were equally garish, made from expensive materials from the Continent. They adopted a highly affected personal style that was self-mocking and absurd.”

He then goes on to point out how this affected behavior resembles the habit of our elites to espouse outlandish causes like transgenderism just to show that they are different from hoi polloi (the many).

I like his ending, “The emergence of a ridiculous class in an empire is the proverbial bell that rings at the top of a cycle. When elements of the elite begin making war on the rules that make the elite possible, it is only a matter of time before everyone does the same. This is what we are seeing in the Global American Empire. It is now ruled by ridiculous people who care more about mocking the lower classes than doing their duty. It is just a matter of time before they follow similar phenomena to the dustbin of history.”

I fervently hope he is right about that.

Bill Maher as a Barometer of the Center Left

Bill Maher is a comedian who made his fortune with two talk shows, Politically Incorrect and Real Time with Bill Maher.  Maher calls himself a liberal but a realist.  He also claims to hate hypocrisy.  Well, I’ll let that go.  Suffice it to say that his favorite targets down through the decades have always been traditionalists and other conservatives.  He has made a very good living extolling Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton and vilifying all Republicans and especially Donald Trump.  But for at least the last year or so Maher has been calling out the more insane actions of the Left.  In recent days he has highlighted the danger of assuming that young children should be allowed to decide they want to have surgeries and hormone therapies to change their sex.  He has derided the  homeless policies in California that have left the streets littered with human feces and deranged drug addicts and he has mocked the positivity campaign that tells heroin and methamphetamine addicts not to feel shame about their addictions.

So, is Bill Maher suddenly a champion of the Right?  No, he’s still the same liberal mush head he always was.  But what he’s noticed is that his audience, the Center-Left, feels alienated by what their politicians are letting the Woke do to the country.  This audience is all the people who voted for Hillary Clinton in 2016 and hate Donald Trump and voted for Joe Biden to “get things back to normal.”  But instead of normal, their homes in the cities are besieged by criminals and homeless drug addicts (if there is a difference) and their children are being encouraged to think they are “trans” and should have their sex organs amputated.  And just to top things off the cost of living is draining their life savings, minute by minute.

What this tells me is that the voting base of the Democrat party is scared and even if they can’t fire Dementia Joe this November, they can take away his Congress.  And that’s what they intend to do.  And they are certainly receptive to a message by someone who can convince them he has a plan to fix things.  The only problem is the one person they won’t listen to is Donald Trump.  If they were forced to vote for Trump their heads would explode.  Especially the women.  So, are we at an impasse?  No, I don’t think so.  All these people need to vote Republican is a VP candidate who isn’t Donald Trump to give them a narrative that what they’re really voting for is the future.  And I think that’s where Ron DeSantis comes in.

DeSantis is perceived as a smart, savvy leader who gets hard things done.  And he doesn’t have Trump’s baggage.  He doesn’t particularly irk women.  He isn’t as brash.  And he knows quite a bit about building a governing team.  So, what needs to happen is, earlier rather than later, Trump and DeSantis need to work out a strategy to let both of them work to their strengths and in that way hijack the whole center-left of the electorate in 2024.  Of course, it won’t be a permanent shift.  Liberals don’t belong in the Republican party.  As soon as the Woke have been disenfranchised and Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden and have been packed off to nursing homes, some new Obama clone will be exciting the center-left with claims of fiscally responsible compassion or some such nonsense.  But if we can manage to win in 2024, we’ll have a shot at trying to bring back some semblance of lawful government.  But how we do that is a story for another day.

That’s quite a lot of tea leaves reading from just watching a few clips of the Bill Maher show.  Well, I’m not a pundit for nothing, you know.

A Note to the Sleep Walkers and the Camp Followers

I usually speak to the folks who are pretty close to my point of view in the socio-political spectrum.  Let’s call us the red-pilled normies.  We’re the folks who thought that George Bush 1 and George Bush 2 believed in the Reagan Revolution.  And we woke up sometime in the Obama Reign to the fact that the Uniparty was playing us for saps.  We rallied to Trump’s 2016 campaign as the Flight 97 Election and watched in horror as the Deep State proved to us just how lawless they truly were.  So, we’re brutally aware of just what kind of death trap the American government has fallen into.

But what about those who either from ignorance or because they pick up the scraps from the managerial elite aren’t in revolt against the Uniparty?  There are still people so unconscious that they would vote for Jeb Bush to protect them from the Left.  And there are people (mostly women) who would vote for Hillary Clinton or Joe Biden over Donald Trump because Trump’s rude or because they identify with their corporate masters.  My messages to these two groups are wake up and smarten up, respectively.

It’s hard to believe there are still conservatives so unconscious that they still believe the GOP Establishment is conservative.  In fact, I change my mind.  These people don’t exist, or at least if they do, they’re all in nursing homes reliving their salad days when Ronald Reagan was still president.  So, let’s drop that fork in the road.

I guess I’m addressing the suburbanites who go along to get along.  They kowtow to the diversity, equity and inclusion gibberish at work and at the school board meetings.  They put the BLM sign on their lawns to keep the mob from looting their house (they hope).  They buy into all the Drag Queen Story Time crap.  They do it all to keep in good standing with the elites that employ them and keep them in the upper middle class.

To you folks and especially to you mothers, I want to let you know you’re kidding yourselves.  Your place in the pecking order has already been handed over to the next wave of poster children.  Straight women are no longer a cherished minority.  You are only one notch above that most hated of categories; straight white men.  Your career advancement has been cancelled.  Your children’s education is an impediment to the welfare of minority children and your wealth needs to be redistributed.  This is the word from your masters.

If this sounds artificially grim it’s not.  You just haven’t been paying attention lately.  Ask the parents in Virginia whose schools were targeting white and Asian kids who hoped to get into gifted programs.  Look at the priorities of any Fortune 500 corporation’s human resources department.  It ain’t you anymore and it’s certainly not your husband.  Unless you suddenly discover that you’re trans.  Otherwise, it’s that Nigerian gal who just entered the country and is just ripe for middle management.  If you’re lucky you’ll be her assistant in charge of making her power point presentations grammatical English.

The powers that be have burned through all the working-class whites and now it’s time to disenfranchise the middle class.  So, get ready to become a peon.  Because that’s what’s on the agenda for you and your descendants.

Or you could open up your eyes and join the deplorables and take a stab at making this a decent place to live for Americans again.  It wouldn’t be hard and you might get back your self-respect and even find some decent people living right in front of your noses.  But you’d better hurry, it’s almost too late.

03JUN2022 – Reflecting on Where We Are

Hello everyone out in the world.  Today is June 3rd 2022 and here in Dunwich the weather is changeable.  Which just means it’s a normal day in New England.  We had clouds then rain and now the sun is pretty hot.  The local flora is bursting with chlorophyll and growing like crazy.  It’s hard not to feel good on a day like today.

Of course, today I locked in my heating oil price for the next season and it was north of five dollars.  Yikes!  But if I didn’t cap it today it would be even higher when I did.  So that’s what it looks like when Joe Biden wants us to “go green.”  What he means is go broke.  By the time Joe Biden is booted out of the White House in January of 2025 I expect that heating oil cap will be $10/gallon.  This isn’t a very pleasant thought.  Camera Girl’s food budget is going to be horrendous to compensate for what expensive oil is going to do to food prices.

But let’s not dwell on the negative.  Let’s get back to that date in January 2025.  Dementia Joe will probably be catatonic by then and strapped to an ambulance gurney for his ride to the third floor of some local nursing home where he’ll be hooked up to some tubes that will keep him clinically alive for a few months more before it will be safe to declare him brain dead.  Too bad no one will declare him brain dead now.  It might spare us all the bother of letting him rattle on about guns or abortion or his adventures with Corn Pop.

So, we’re all impatiently awaiting that day in thirty months when a new regime will come in and start repairing the damage Joe has caused.  The first thing reversed will be the border.  Closing the border will be easy.  Getting the funds to finish the wall will be easy too without that nitwit Paul Ryan running the House.  Kicking out the illegals will be the hard part.  Then all the executive orders and other shenanigans that Biden used to reduce American oil production will need to be undone.  That should also be easy.

What will be hard is what comes next, defanging the Deep State.  Through a combination of appointments, changes to the federal law around federal bureaucrats and the reduction of the budgets of the various executive agencies the next president will have to establish control over the Frankenstein monster that is the federal government.  And if it isn’t done then we will have to admit the truth that America is an empire ruled over by court mandarins.  We’ve seen this in action as the bureaucracy selects the judges and jurors that will protect any henchman of the Deep State from accountability for breaking the laws that the rest of us have to follow.

Can Donald Trump (or his successor) do this?  I have my doubts.  We’ve seen no proof that he can.  We have seen proof that the Justice Department and the FBI and the Obama appointed judges will punish with impunity anyone they choose to hold up as object lessons to the rest of us.  No one has beaten the Deep State.  But one good thing has happened.  The Deep State has been clearly exposed.  The non-leftist media; Tucker Carlson and a lot of smaller outfits like the Conservative Treehouse have made available proof that the Deep State is real and it is powerful and it is crooked as the devil’s backbone.

So, there’s a lot of question marks.  The first one is whether we can get a fair election in November.  If that fails then we don’t have to wait thirty months.  We’ll already have our answer.  At that point it’ll be a matter of getting out or waiting for the Visigoths.  But it is a beautiful day today and I’ll go enjoy a little bit of it now.

Joe Biden Pre-Empted Wheel of Fortune.  Now He’s in Trouble

If there’s anything Camera Girl enjoys it’s watching Pat Sajak and Vanna White give away money to happy go lucky contestants spinning the wheel of fortune.  But tonight, Dementia Joe pre-empted the show and now she is mightily ticked off at the loser.

As she fast forwarded through the dvr recording she stopped at several points and I could hear Mumbly Joe going through his various emotive techniques.  His hoarse whispering, his references to God, his fake anger.  He did all of those.  Now I’m not a fanatical wheeler watcher like Camera Girl but even I was appalled that a useful and enjoyable television presentation was lost for the sake of letting that lunatic berate us and lie to us for half an hour or so.

I’m trying to think of a scenario where I would waste half an hour listening to Joe Biden.  And restricting the question to probable cases, I can’t think of a single one.  I mean it’s highly unlikely that he’d confess to all his high crimes on a televised address.  That would get me.  But Joe’s too good a liar to let that happen.

I guess he has his best excuse at getting my attention during the State of the Union Address.  But I skipped that.  Would you count a debate with Donald Trump?  I’d call that incidental viewing because without Trump there just wouldn’t be any reason to watch it.

So, Joe is making the full court press to pass a gun control law.  I guess it’s possible that McConnell is cowardly enough to agree to something like that.  I wouldn’t be shocked if they cave.  It is their defining feature to allow themselves to be stampeded off a cliff.  We’ll have to see just how stupid the Stupid Party is this time.

So, we’ll have to find something else to watch tonight.  I’ve recorded the 1972 Russian language sci-fi classic Solaris.  Camera Girl would rather be boiled in oil than watch a sub-titled foreign film.  So, it will have to wait until later.  We’ll watch an episode of the new Harry Bosch cable series.  It’s not as good as the previous seasons.  Bosch’s daughter who is played by an actress that looks like she weighs seventy-five pounds soaking wet is supposed to be an LAPD trainee.  I’ve had to watch her supposedly tackle male suspects and cuff them.  My nine-year-old grandson could body slam her and not break a sweat.  But it’s slim pickings on television these days.

It should be interesting to see if the Evil Party can somehow distract the voters from the crashing of the US economy.  The old election saw was, “It’s the economy, stupid!”.  But I wonder.  Nowadays it might be said that, “It’s the stupid, stupid!”.  After all, this is a country where approximately half of the people voted for Joe Biden, a seventy-eight-year-old mental patient, for president.  I guess it’s possible that America is just too stupid to protect itself from grifters and psychopaths.  From my point of view, the good news is that we’ve got the acid test in front of us.  If there isn’t a tidal wave of voters to throw the Democrats out then the Dissident Right is right.  We’re completely washed up and I’ll need Plan B.  So, five months to find out the answer.  I guess I can wait.

Another Impeachment GOPer About to Get Primaried

Ah, it’s music to my ears.  another RINO traitor getting poleaxed in the primary.  Hey Portly Politico, is this guy your Congressman?

“South Carolina state Rep. Russell Fry has a double-digit lead on Rep. Tom Rice (R-SC) in one poll as the embattled incumbent campaigns to keep his Grand Strand to Pee Dee congressional district after voting to impeach President Donald Trump.

More than two-fifths (42%) of likely Republican primary voters would support Trump-endorsed Fry, a former South Carolina General Assembly majority chief whip, if the June 14 election were held today, according to a Trafalgar Group ballot test of the state’s 7th District published Wednesday.”

Being a vengeful, spiteful kind of guy, I enjoy this part of the elections even more than the winning.  Watching Liz Cheney and these creeps get flushed down the electoral drain is schadenfreude at its very best.  Bye bye, Tom Rice.  Good luck finding that new day job.

Fixing the Cities

So, the cities that have been devastated by their lousy electoral decisions are beginning to recoil against their suicidal choices.

In Chicago a law and order choice is emerging to challenge the pop-eyed lunacy of Lori Lightfoot.  In San Francisco a recall vote is poised to remove their criminally negligent District Attorney Chesa Boudin from office.  Do I find these developments hopeful or encouraging?  Not at all.  The people in these cities are absolute fools.  Any temporary respite from the insanity they are currently experiencing will bring them right back to the same positions on police and criminals that got them into their present disaster.

When they recall their district attorney, they’ll substitute an idiot that’s just one click less absurd than Boudin.  And if Lightfoot is replaced with a law-and-order mayor the city council and the rest of the establishment will work to undermine the authority and actions of the new mayor.

No, there’s no shortcut to fixing these cities.  They will have to hit bottom.  It will have to get so bad that the liberals will be forced to run away.  That will leave the remaining poor people with the chance to learn from their stupidity and act sanely.

But even in red states and with blue cities this lunacy also exists.  It seems to me that if there is ever to be an end to all this dysfunction, a state government has to initiate new laws to intercede where local governments have failed their citizens.  So, the governor of Texas should see what’s going on in Austin or some other blue Texas city and intervene when its local government enacts some crack pot legislation that harms its own citizens.  Whether it’s allowing homeless people to invade a neighborhood or declaring itself a sanctuary city for illegal aliens or electing a district attorney that refuses to prosecute felons the state should have a plan to override these activities and even prosecute elected officials who enact such insane things.

Something like that should have been done during the George Floyd riots.  Large mobs of looters and arsonists should have been confronted by National Guard units and been warned to disperse or risk arrest or worse.  I guarantee they would have disappeared into the night, never to be heard from again.

The first governor who starts thinking, talking and acting this way will be vilified by the press and acclaimed a hero by his own citizens.  And it’s a cinch that he’d be copied by twenty other red state governors almost immediately.  Who knows, there might be a few blue states that would elect a copycat republican governor who ran on a similar platform of cleaning up the urban decay and taking strong action against criminals and lawlessness.

But this is happy-happy talk.  We’re nowhere near any of this.  The appearance of a strong man willing to stand up to Washington and take drastic action against anarchists and urban progressive lunatics hasn’t come to fruition yet.  DeSantis has taken the first steps.  He’s challenged some of the blue cities on specific points but he hasn’t taken them on head on.  Maybe his state doesn’t have those kinds of cities.  I’d assume that Miami would be like that but maybe I’m wrong.  But when we start to hear about that kind of strong action against progressive lunacy then we’ll know something real is happening in the country.  Let’s hope it starts sooner than later.  We could use it.

A Black American Speaks the Hard Truth to His Race

Glenn C. Loury is a professor of economics at Brown University and writes for the City Journal.  He’s also black.

Here’s the last paragraph of his honest essay.

“I take no pleasure in doing so but feel obliged to report this reality: equality of dignity, equality of standing, of honor, of security in one’s position within society, an equal ability to command the respect of others—such things cannot simply be handed over. Nor will they be the fruit of insurrection, violent uprising, or rebellion. Equality of this sort is something we must wrest with our bare hands from a cruel and indifferent world by means of our own effort, inspired by the example of our enslaved and newly freed ancestors. We must make ourselves equal. No one can do that for us. My fear is that, until we recognize and accept this unlovely but inexorable fact about the human condition—until we disdain the rhetoric and embrace the realities about race in our country—the disparities that have so troubled our politics and so threatened our domestic tranquility will continue to persist.”

I think if you read his post you’ll be hard pressed to disagree with any of it.  Unfortunately the Left is invested in denying this reality and feed the false narrative of “white supremacists” around every corner.

The Sussman Verdict

So I read the articles (1, 2, 3) about Sussman being acquitted.  It’s a long sordid tale.  The judge is a colleague of Sussman’s from the Clinton White House.  His wife is a lawyer that defended the FBI agent that was part of the Russia-gate scam that spawned the Durham investigation.  And the judge also made a point of seating several jury members that were big donors to the Hillary Clinton campaign.

The acquittal proves the point that no one will receive actual justice in a DC court.  What will occur will be machine justice.  Nothing is clearer than that the Deep State owns DC lock, stock and barrel.  The only way to “fix” the federal government is to draft legislation to allow the president to fire anyone in the executive branch for any reason that he may care to come up with.  Short of that, the Deep State owns this country.

I guess I already knew this inside but it’s gut wrenching when circumstances prove it to be true beyond a shadow of a doubt.  I guess the only question that’s still open is whether Durham is completely a puppet or whether he will try to avoid this set-up for his ongoing cases.  Surely there must be a way to have the trials moved to a fair venue where something beside insiders will be the judge and jury.  Couldn’t he pick Oklahoma or Idaho?

Well, now I’m just daydreaming.  This reinforces all the worst things I have heard about our justice system.  This is right up there with that other bozo of a judge who spent years torturing General Flynn for a trumped-up charge.  And it goes along with the January 6th judges who have allowed defendants to languish for over a year in prison over a trespassing charge.

Equal justice under the law is supposedly the proudest claim that America makes before the world.  But that is shown to be an obvious fallacy.  There is one law for the common people and an altogether different law for friends of the regime.  If we ever get a truly powerful majority in the Senate, we should use it to impeach judges.  There are a goodly number of them who have proven themselves corrupt and impeachment is the minimum penalty they should have to pay.  A good stiff prison sentence would be even more fitting.

So, when and if we regain the Presidency and the Congress the program that should be initiated is to reform the executive branch.  The ability to fire employees is basic but in addition, the practice of allowing administrative departments to dictate law must be curtailed.  The EPA cannot decide whether you can heat your home with gas or oil without Congress writing the law.  They should be able to recommend it and they should be charged with enforcing it but they can’t be judge, jury and executioner anymore.  It’s un-American and it’s proof that we’ve become slaves to the bureaucracy.

If Trump or DeSantis gets in next, he better make taming the Deep State his first order of business.  If he doesn’t, then he might as well stay home and just let the Democrats continue putting nails in our coffin.  It won’t make a bit of difference otherwise.
