Who Are We Waiting For?

Who is Real America waiting for?  I’ve been saying for a while that we need someone who’s smart and brave.  I’ve been trying to imagine what that looks like.  I think what it will look like is someone who figures out how to beat the FBI and the White House.  It’s someone who will trigger the FBI to come after him and come up empty.  He’ll do something they don’t like and they’ll get a court to give them a warrant and they’ll come to get him and they won’t be able to.

And I’m trying to think how that happens.  He can’t be a governor or a sheriff or anything they can go after because they will.  They’ll go after family to get at the man.  That’s what they did to General Flynn.  He’s going to have no family that they know of.  Maybe he won’t have a name.  Or at least not a real name.  He’s going to have to be good at disappearing.  But he’s also going to have to take action from time to time.  And those actions are going to be ones that rally the people.  Maybe he’ll attack an Antifa or BLM riot.  Not necessarily a violent attack, in fact something that humiliates them would be even better than a violent attack.  Maybe some kind of foul-smelling glue that will take days to remove would be the best result.  The point would be to disrupt and demoralize them.  Doing that would give our side a win.  But the bigger win is if they can’t punish the perpetrator.  He needs to remain at large to do it again somewhere else in some other way.

What we need is some kind of Robin Hood who hits the bad guys where it hurts but doesn’t pay the consequences.  The ultimate would be if he could hack the intel services and publish the most embarrassing information to discredit people like Comey and Brennan and Clapper.  Or better yet, people like Biden and Obama.  That would do our enemies great harm and provide us with a morale boost.

So, let’s review.  I’m looking for a Robin Hood working for our side.  Do I really think anything like this will happen?  No, not really.  What we’ll have to settle for is someone like Ron DeSantis who will have to stand up to the White House and the Justice Department and risk being targeted by them.  They’re already unleashing all the media and bureaucratic minions they can to attack him for all the good he’s doing.  They’ll try to accuse him of endangering Floridians because he won’t mandate masks and vaccines.  They may even try to blockade his state using the airlines and other useful idiots who can make trouble for Florida.  Will he have to give in?  Let’s hope not.  Because if he can resist long enough for the COVID spike to subside Biden is going to look stupid again and DeSantis will look like a hero.

So, what I’d like to see is Robin Hood fighting the Sheriff of Nottingham and Price John and rallying the Saxons.  But I’ll settle for a politician who has the smarts and the guts to figure out a strategy that makes the Biden Administration look like the slimy crooks that they really are.  Setting a precedent by winning a staring contest with Washington is what we need.

I beg the indulgence of the non-photographers in the audience as I spend an inordinate amount of time this week playing around with the camera rental equipment I am testing out.  I am performing due diligence on the news of the day but in this silly season a lot of it is the same old, same old.

Yes the Republicans are preparing to fold like a cheap suit and allow the Dems to pass horrendously awful legislation.  Yes, everyone talks about how awful Andrew Cuomo and Gavin Newsom are as governors but they’ll elect guys just like them next time around.  Yes the vaccine no longer prevents COVID but we must blame non-vaxxers for preferring to skip it.  Yes, the citizens of large cities are recoiling in horror at the unending violent crime wave that has turned their neighborhoods into shooting galleries but they’ll vote for the next Lori Lightfoot or Bill de Blasio as soon as a Republican jails all the murderers for them.  Really just the same old thing.

The big news of the day is Camera Girl was cleaning the pool and she found an American Giant Millipede at the bottom of the pool still alive.  She has rescued it and set it up in a cage and Princess Sack-of-Potatoes has named it Milly.  Ah, just what we needed another exotic pet.  At least I’ll follow up with some photos at some point.

So I will try to put together some meaningful non-photographic content today but please bear with me while I use my rental time productively.  And if the zombie apocalypse does occur today at least I’ll have camera in hand to document it.

08AUG2021 – OCF Update – This’N’That

So the big news is I’ll be busy testing out my A-Mount lenses on the LA-EA5 adapter.  But I’ll keep up with what’s going on in the world.

The two headlines that caught my eye this morning are:

2 Chicago police officers shot, 1 killed in West Englewood shooting

I watched the clip and listened to pop-eyed Lori Lightfoot emoting for the shot cops.  Really kind of hard to believe she has the best interests of the police officers or the wider public in mind.  I will say she seems burnt out.  I doubt she runs for re-election.  Not that anyone would elect her at this point.  She is the poster child for a law and order rebound in Chicago’s future.  But maybe I’m wrong.  The numbers at this point may be for the gangs to run Chicago.  And I say let them have it.  Anyone who stays in the big cities has a death wish.

NBC sees ‘worst case scenario’ as Olympics ratings plunge amid ‘woke’ protests

I was reading the comments and the overwhelming majority opinion is that NBC and the sponsors got exactly what they deserved.  Whoever is still watching the “Hate America” Olympics is the woke sports viewer.  Apparently they’re not a big enough crowd for money to be made by sponsors and advertisers.  Good.  Come back when you can make believe you love America.  But at that point the number of suckers will be a pretty small number.  They’ve killed the goose that lays the golden eggs.  Now they can pound sand.

Well, the COVID harpies are pushing for vaccine passports and masks again.  They’ll be torturing small children going to school this year.  So far they haven’t forced the grocery stores and retail stores to force their patrons to either prove they’re vaccinated and/or wear a mask but it’s probably in the cards.

But I just attended a family get together yesterday and despite the nervousness of certain folks we didn’t have any mask nonsense or even waste any time talking about it.  Hopefully we’re past all that at this point.

Well, off to do some camera work.  Stay tuned.

Freedom or The Hive – Anarchy or Society – Are there Any Ways to Get the Best of Both Worlds?

Are our only two choices to be either a drone in the global hive that our tech masters are quickly creating or a Hobbesian natural man whose life will be “solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short?”  The Founding Fathers tried to thread that needle by building a state that guaranteed certain “inalienable rights.”  As we have lived to see, these guarantees have been abrogated by the elitist class that runs our government and all the corporations that control the livelihoods and material resources that we depend on for existence.

But what we shouldn’t forget is that those things existed for a very long time in this country.  There is nothing theoretical about living free in a law-based society.  What has changed is the thinking of the elites who control so many levers of power.  They have over time decided that they are the rightful rulers of this country and by extension all of Western civilization and that they have a better understanding of what we should be allowed to be.

They’re not interested in inalienable rights.  After all they don’t believe in God so they can’t believe that there are rights given to us by God.  Without God we are all just animals that happen to exist here on this spinning rock somewhere in the meaningless depths of a universe that increasingly seems to make no sense.  So, if they find that they have control of us then in their minds they are gods and we have little to say about it.

Thomas Jefferson said, “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.”  And I think he was right.  Human social arrangements cannot be made static.  They change over time as the customs and character of the people change too.  We are not the British colonists.  This is not the world that they lived in.  But we are human beings.  We have very similar minds and bodies to theirs.  Our world is very different but people living together, men and women still want and need the same things.  We want to enjoy life and we want to keep what we work for and we want our families to enjoy these same things after us.

So, what it comes down to is this.  We’ve let the people in charge take back the things that were agreed to be ours.  We’ve been cheated.  But if we want to get them back, we’re going to have to do more than complain.  So, the choices available to us are:

  • Fold
  • Flee
  • Fight

Those are the choices.  Fold means give in.  Join the hive and become a drone.  It’s not much of a life but at least you don’t have to do much thinking.  They’ll find a small cell for you to inhabit until the winter comes and they push you out of the nest into the snow.

Flee means leave.  Find a better place either in a red state that has maintained some independence from the hive.  Florida looks promising.  Maybe Idaho.  Or maybe find a foreign land that will take you in and hasn’t been absorbed by the hive.  Are there good places in the world?  Yes.  Will they take us.  Maybe not.  But it’s worth exploring.

Fight means taking the country back.  How that can be done is anyone’s guess.  The oligarchs have control of power that is virtually infinite.  The resources of the federal government.  The reserve currency of the whole world with an almost limitless ability to print money.  The largest and most potent military that has ever been.  Even thermonuclear weapons if the reason for using them ever appeared.   They have almost complete compliance from every corporation and entity with any power, from the media outlets to the universities to the manufacturers and commercial giants.  And finally, the information resources of the Silicon Valley billionaires.  They know so much about us that they think they can predict our every action.

The idea of fighting all that seems like a bad joke.  But by the same token we have at least eighty million living human beings on our side.  If a constituency that large can be organized it will have resources and capabilities that could accomplish a lot.  Even in the complete absence of violence or even protest a force that large could change things very significantly.  But what we currently lack is organization, leadership and a plan.  And of those three things what is most lacking is leadership.  Someone strong and smart has to step forward and take control of organizing.  Who knows, the decision might be that what we need to do is flee.  Maybe we can organize a program to allow us to emigrate together to some place that we could call our own.  Perhaps several of the red states could become our reservation.  But we’ll need to get organized to accomplish any of this.

And getting back to the original thesis of this post, it is possible to live in a free society.  But it’s not possible to keep it if you’re not willing to defend it.

Not All Politics is Local but Local Politics Has Become Crucial

Thomas P. “TIP” O’Neill was the Democrat Speaker of the House during Ronald Reagan’s administration and he was an old time Boston Irish machine politician.  He made the famous but not very meaningful statement that, “All politics is local.”  What I think he meant was, “To a politician who wants to be re-elected all political issues better be considered from the local point of view.”

Well, I’m not going to give a lecture on elective politics.  What I wanted to write about is the way I’ve been thinking about local issues.  I think too many people despair of the local political scene without even doing the minimum of due diligence about the actual nature of the political setup.  And when I say local, I’m talking about your town or county.  I live in New England, the land of the woke.  But my town votes Republican.  That alone should tell me that there is some hope of getting involved in something meaningful.  The town government is heavily involved in education, taxes, services and many other things that have a direct effect on people’s lives.  But let’s say your town is hopelessly left leaning.  It’s still in your interest to find out who runs what and how they effect your life.  For instance, suppose you find out that there’s a seat open on the school board.  If you or one of your friends managed to get on the board just that change might be enough to minimize the damage that comes from all of the CRT nonsense that’s going on.  The information you learn might be enough to rally like-minded parents, even socially liberal parents who still would resent their children being propagandized.  Something like that is already occurring in blue-state Virginia.  Often people are a lot less likely to experiment with their kids lives than they are with other people’s lives.

And getting involved with town politics and policies may impact other things going on around you.  Many small towns are voluntarily building and zoning low-income housing.  Knowing that this is going on isn’t something automatic.  And likewise letting your neighbors know about something like that can have a huge impact on stopping it.  After all, the effect something like that has on housing value is very real.  After it’s too late isn’t the time to find out that you’ve lost half the value in your home.

Other important town business is also worth knowing about.  Things like who is being considered as police chief or whether the town is thinking of spending a lot of money on a library or an art center.  These things have a big impact on taxes and town budget constraints.

So, there are several reasons why getting involved in local politics is smart and also effective in making your local community better.  But even if you find out that you are completely outnumbered by raging woke leftists, at least the effort will provide you with that fact and the assurance that here is no hope for a normal life should spur you to get the hell out of the hellhole you inhabit and move to a place where you won’t be surrounded by pod people.  After all contact with pod people for extended periods will turn you into a zombie too.  At least that’s what I learned from watching several versions of “Invasion of the Body Snatchers.”

Poor Wittle Gavin Newsom Says Big Bad Recall is “Unfair”

This guy sounds like a big baby..  The big bad Republicans want to take away my toy!

“California Gov. Gavin Newsom said the recall effort against him is unfair and that its impacts will be felt “across the country.””…

“”My sense is, trying to be as objective as someone who is the target of this recall as I possibly can be, I think it will be quite pronounced for many, many years,” he said in response to what he thinks the consequences of a successful recall will be. “I think it will be felt all across the country. I think people haven’t really thought that through. … I don’t think the national Democratic Party is asking themselves that question.””…

“He added that the recall process against him has been weaponized by people with opposing political views.”…

“”I think the opportunity for the Republican Party with the midterm elections coming up, in [Minority Leader] Kevin McCarthy’s backyard, in [House Speaker] Nancy Pelosi’s state, in [Vice President] Kamala Harris’ home state, with California and the values we profess and practice that would be judged in a different light if this was a successful recall — I think it would have profound consequences nationwide,” the governor said.”…

“Newsom named immigration, climate change, health care and the coronavirus pandemic as issues that would be impacted by a recall.”

This clown deserves everything he gets.  How will the United States get along without him?  Well, I guess we’ll just have to muddle along, somehow.  Of course since he’ll be unemployed maybe we can hire him to cut the grass and clean up after the dogs.  Maybe he could be trained to do those things, maybe.

05AUG2021 – OCF Update – This ‘N’ That

I continue to be impressed by the backbone that Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida is displaying.  The usual suspects in the press and the feds are attacking him tooth and nail and he’s standing his ground remarkably.  I think he’s shown himself to be a savvy politician and someone who will be worth watching going forward.

Great to see that Gavin Newsom is looking like a dead man walking.  Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.  Larry Elder might be an interesting governor for California.  Because of his color it will be inconvenient for the usual suspects to use their usual methods to attack him.  Might be a learning experience for black voters to see a conservative black leader for once.

I’m trying to teach myself some Word Press design techniques to streamline some of the repetitive stuff I do such as the photo and quote of the day posts.  It’s just a matter of making some templates that are easy to use so I can avoid some keystrokes and clicks.  But you know what old dogs and new tricks are like so it is eating into my day.

Rainy, cool weather here in New England but no snow yet so that’s good.  Camera Girl is working indoors today and that means we’ll eventually have to talk to each other which is always dangerous.  She’s very excited about a new shell I bought her for her hermit crab.  I named him Buster Crabbe after the late great star of the classic Flash Gordon serials of the 1930s.  She’s so excited about him moving into the new shell that she wants me to photograph him for posterity.  Don’t be surprised if he shows up here at some point.  I told her I thought he’d be better off as part of a crab sauce over spaghetti.  She was not amused.

Haven’t seen any of the praying mantises for a week or so and I’m wondering if there are many predators in the yard that they have to contend with.  I guess frogs and toads might be the likeliest enemies around the yard.  But maybe even field mice might be a threat.  Next week will be drier and warmer so I’m hoping that I’ll make some further sightings.  Princess Sack-of-Potatoes will be sorely disappointed if they don’t reappear.  Although lately she seems a lot more interested in chasing butterflies.  I guess women of all ages are a fickle bunch.

I saw that Dementia Joe’s poll numbers have finally gone below water.  Of course Politico will put out their own poll that says he’s at 52% so they can claim the average is above 50% but looking at the main pollsters he’s now under water.  And that’s during the August doldrums.  come September when kids will be sitting in sweltering classrooms with masks over their faces I can see those numbers in the low forties.  Oh, Joe’s gonna be awfully popular.  But we’ll see.

The Congress is getting ready to sell us out again.  Joe Manchin has cut his deal.  His wife has been put in charge of a billion dollar slush fund so you can expect that the fix is in.  The Dems will use the reconciliation process to put illegal alien citizenship, statehood for Puerto Rico and DC, permanent election fraud and heaven knows what else into law this fall.  So don’t let yourself get sucked into the miasma of despair they’re preparing.  It’s coming and we need to concentrate on the things we can control ourselves.  And we need to be able to decide where our own long term best interests will be served.  All that will be things to discuss and figure out.

51% of Californians Polled Will Vote to Kick Newsom to the Curb

Now isn’t that special.  Governor Haircut is looking shaky coming up to the last month before the vote.  Larry Elder the black conservative pundit is currently the front running candidate to replace him.  Wouldn’t that be amusing.  None of the Democrats have entered the race because of the disrespect that would show to Governor Nuisance.  I’m not sure if it’s too late for one of them to jump in.  Let’s see how that plays out now that things are getting interesting.

What do you do after you’ve been given the ax as governor of California?  Maybe he can become wine-taster for Aunt Nancy Pelosi.  Or maybe he can sell used cars.  He’s got the hair and teeth.  Most probably he’ll become a lobbyist for the Chinese.  After all they don’t know any better.  They won’t be sure he’s as big a loser as he actually is.

I wonder if this might make him change his mind about more lockdowns.  It really does make you think.

The Cuomos – A Study in Familial Decay

Yesterday Tom D asked me on the site if I thought Andrew Cuomo’s excuses about Italians being so emotionally and physically demonstrative that his good-natured affection was being mistaken for sexual harassment.  I assured Tom that Andrew Cuomo was demonstrating that he was a creepy pervert.

I fully concede that old-time Italian Americans were more likely to hug and kiss family members than their Irish American neighbors were likely to in similar circumstances.  But I also assured him that some old man who started groping young women was more than likely to be beaten to a pulp by that girl’s brother or father if he was caught in the neighborhood doing it.  And that’s in the US.  Back in the old country he’d probably get knifed for his trouble.

What I consider Andrew Cuomo to be is a cheap bastard.  Now that he’s divorced, he appears to be trying to avoid remarriage or some other honorable romantic arrangement by hitting on the poor unfortunate women who have to work for this slime ball.  Think about it.  He’s the governor of one of the largest, richest states in the US.  There are probably a hundred thousand women in the state who would willingly entertain the idea of dating this loser.  And in fact, he probably wouldn’t have to spend all that much to do it.  He could pass along most of the costs to the state government accounts he already abuses for various purposes.  But no.  He’s too lazy to even bother looking for women even if it would be like shooting fish in a barrel.  So, he perves around these twenty-something assistants and even police officers hoping that one of them is desperate enough to want to have sex with an old, ugly dirtbag who also happens to be the most powerful man in the state.  The sad part is that it probably worked on some of them, the ones who won’t come forward now out of embarrassment.

And now he tries to claim that all this is just the younger generation mistaking avuncular friendliness for decrepit horniness.  The funny thing is he may get away with it.  The legislature would have to impeach him to get him out of his office.  And maybe the Republicans there may think it’s better to leave him in office and run against him in 2022.  Wouldn’t that be a bizarre twist.

Andrew and Chris (Fredo) Cuomo are pretty sad excuses for public figures.  Their father Mario Cuomo was just another Democrat machine politician.  But he at least could string together a few paragraphs in a way that showed that he was an intelligent man.  His sons seem not to have inherited any of his brains.  Whenever I see Chris Cuomo on television, I get the impression that someone must have been blackmailed or bribed into hiring him.  He has no discernible skills at speaking, thinking or even reading a teleprompter without looking like a deer in the headlights.  Andrew is a little less stupid.  He is savvy enough to suck up to the proper Democrat power brokers when it will do him the most good.  I assume he has been given assistance from his father’s allies and subordinates while moving up the political ladder.  What happens next should be enlightening and possibly entertaining as the MeToo movement and the Democrat Establishment try to pry the governorship away from Andrew without too much gore.  But who knows, Mario may have handed over dossiers on the people Andrew needs to fight.  It may just play out in the court of public opinion where it will do the most damage to Cuomo and the Dems.

So, my verdict is that Creepo and Fredo should be the last generation of Cuomos we’ll have to hear about in the news.  And that’s a relief to Italian Americans across the length and breadth of Former America.
