The State of the Right, Part II: Dissident Right and Civic Nationalists
All the Secrets of the Universe and Some Really Important Stuff Too!
Tyler has a lot of good things to say about the topics we’ve both been seeing on the political stage. Plus he says some good things about me, so how can I resist.
The State of the Right, Part II: Dissident Right and Civic Nationalists
One of the most troubling aspects of the America we now live in is the racial animosity exhibited almost universally across the whole spectrum of political ideologies. Of course, the Marxists and their descendants, the Progressives, have perfected it into a weapon that they use to inflame hatred against Americans of European Descent or as we used to call them Americans. But the fallout of this multi-generational strategy is that their opponents, especially on the very farthest edges of the Right Wing are learning to use this same tactic in reverse. A whole generation of Alt-Right and Dissident Right ideologues are focusing on racial identity politics and the tactics of racial polarization to the exclusion of almost anything else. In fact, this idea that racial identity will trump all other ways of uniting and dividing people has actually made headway among formerly “color-blind” conservatives. My read on this is that rather than any effective proselytizing by the Dissident Right, the real catalyst for this transformation was the racial animus and partisanship demonstrated by the Obama Administration during the Black Lives Matter and other teachable moments that our “Dear Leader” talked down to us about.
In that sense I somewhat understand the depth of the hatred that has developed along the racial divide. The behavior by the Justice Department in fueling these fake police incidents was outrageous and did enormous harm by throwing fuel on the already hot flashpoints that exist in the crime ridden ghettos where the police are just about all that stands between poor people and the law of the jungle.
But what it has turned into on the Dissident Right is a conviction that civic life and law and order cannot transcend differences between people of different races and ethnicities. The more thoughtful voices in that community do not contend that we are headed for some kind of civil war or balkanization of the United States. They talk more about individual states ignoring laws that they do not agree with and going their own way on these things. In fact, this is not that different from what California and some other places have already done on immigration law with their so-called sanctuary cities.
What this all amounts to is the Dissident Right declaring that the Progressives have outmaneuvered the Right by increasing legal and illegal immigration to the point that they will have a permanent dominance over electoral power and will use it to create a permanent grievance machine to disenfranchise Americans of European Descent by punitive means such as affirmative action and other discriminatory policies.
Are they right?
I prefer to think that they’re not. My read on this is that the situation has been exacerbated by Republican “leaders” who actually seem to buy into the fairness of minority identity politics out of some kind of ancestral guilt or because they see electoral advantage in joining the progressives. The proof of this can be seen in the success of a civic nationalist like Trump who isn’t guilted into kowtowing to illegal immigration out of fear of being called a racist. Once you disarm the Progressives of that weapon you find out that the majority of Americans, even in Blue States, want immigration laws to be obeyed.
I contend if the Right forcefully advocates for full enforcement of immigration laws and the elimination of reverse discrimination policies by the government and other entities, it will go a long way toward lowering tensions between the various groups living in the United States and will allow people to start thinking of each other as neighbors and not potential enemies.
Am I right? I can’t claim I’m sure. I think the next few years will be indicative of whether the Dissident Right is correct or whether there’s still time to fix the mess we’re in. And believe me, I don’t minimize how bad things have become. On the worst days, I shake my head and look at maps to see where I can move to that will allow me to stave off the worst of it for a little longer.
In the second part of this I’ll look a little more closely at the specifics of the Dissident Right’s logic and compare it to my own way of looking at where we are.
Good Morning to all of you out there. Today is a day for family here, as it always has been for me. We’ll have a meal with the kids and grandkids, some in-laws and even some family coming up from New York. It should be nice. The weather has been rainy the last few days but the forecast says it will stop and the sun may even appear. The first daffodils have bloomed in the yard (we’re always about two weeks behind the rest of the world here in the “Land of the Lost”). Turkeys have been walking around in the woods and even stopping by Camera Girl’s bird feeders. The Mallards have retuned from Capistrano (or wherever they go) and are eating whatever goo they find in the puddle. Still no sign of the beaver yet (smart money is that the coyotes got him). To quote from that memorable philosopher George Costanza, “Spring. Rejuvenation. Rebirth. Everything’s Blooming. All That Crap.”
For photos I’ve got to get some new stuff together. Even I’m butterflied out (or is it butterflown?). I have some flower stuff that is appropriate but I’ll need to do some shooting soon. Maybe I’ll look for something old that will be interesting.
On the politics side things are definitely looking interesting. Now is the time for the President to strike while the iron is hot as they say. A two-pronged strategy to set the Justice Department on the perpetrators of the Russia hoax and at the same time advancing his immigration policy would be the best idea from my point of view. The important thing is to be seen to make progress. That rallies the troops and frightens the bad guys.
With respect to reviews, I’ve enjoyed the Twilight Zone project and have decided that after it’s done, I’m going to embark on a review of the original Star Trek series. Mocking Bill Shatner will be a labor of love for me and certain to raise the spirits of all readers. I’ve got a review of the movie, “The Natural,” coming up tomorrow morning and I’d like to pick out some other older films to highlight that people still have a choice of watching something entertaining even while Hollywood is still dominated by the insane death cult ensconced there.
To all Christians out there Happy Easter. To all Jewish readers have a Happy Passover. To everyone else, enjoy the chocolate eggs.
(My Understanding of the Current Composition of Non-Leftist America)
This is an update to my earlier column back in November 2017 “Defining the Space Between NeverTrump and the Alt-Right,” that appeared on the American Greatness website. At the time I declared that I was a red-pilled normie. Of course, I was quickly corrected by someone surely far to my right with the news that there are many red pills and I had a ways to go.
Here we are another eighteen months later (more or less) and my learning curve has flattened out a little and I have a better understanding of the nuances and distinctions on the non-left half of the socio-political spectrum. And the world has changed a great deal too.
Back in 2017 the NeverTrumpers were still in the ascendancy in Washington. Paul Ryan was still the Speaker of the House and the National Review and the Weekly Standard were still considered conservative magazines by some Republicans. Mitch McConnell and Lindsay Graham were still more likely to side with Chuck Schumer than President Trump on any particular issue of the day. And every fresh rumor from the leakers on the Mueller investigation was trumpeted on the front page of the Times and Post as if impeachment and conviction were only hours away. How the mighty have fallen.
The point to all this is that the categories of the Non-Left have not changed much over time but the sizes of these constituencies have shifted radically. Let’s start with the left most extreme edge of the Non-Left. Here are the liberal civic nationalists or “Centrists.” These are the swing voters that can vote Democrat or Republican depending on circumstances and really don’t have much claim to be grouped with conservatives. They are socially liberal and fiscally pretty liberal too. But to the extent that they can vote Republican they are Non-Left. This is a fairly large group of people in the Mid-West and probably a large number of them would be capable of voting for Joe Biden or President Trump in 2020 depending on circumstances. But considering the changes in the economy and the news (like the conclusion to the Mueller investigation) it seems likely that President Trump’s rising popularity probably stems from the changes in opinion of this group. So, to the extent that they are shifting rightwards let’s say that this constituency is growing.
Next to the Centrists moving rightwards are the so-called “Establishment Republicans.” Here are the business people who expect the Republican party to stand for capitalism, low taxes and fiscal restraint. This is the JEB! crowd. They trooped over to the NeverTrump movement en masse as soon as they found out that Trump didn’t think globalization was the greatest thing since sliced bread. This group doesn’t shrink or grow. It’s a population that inhabits the same stratum with the elite Left. In fact, they’re the same people. They’re just a little less strident in their social opinions. But they have moved away from their virulent anti-Trump positions as of late and at this point, they’re more neutral in their attitudes about the President. Personally, they still despise him but on a practical basis they concede that they may have to deal with him for another term and they are trying to figure out how best to take advantage of that. An exception to this trend is the Neo-Cons. These War-Hawks are now synonymous with the NeverTrumpers. Bill Kristol and Max Boot are the most virulent of the bunch but as a group they have drifted so far from even the remaining Establishment Republicans that they are now essentially Leftists.
The next big class of people are the Conservative Civic Nationalists. This is the bulk of the Non-Left. These are the normal people who have always believed in God and Country and that America was the land of freedom, opportunity and fairness. They believed that all Americans were lucky to be living in the greatest country on God’s green earth. They believed that the rule of law under the Constitution and especially the Bill of Rights is what made this the closest thing to heaven on earth and anyone living here should be supremely grateful to the Founding Fathers for inventing it and his own ancestors for coming here. This is the group that has had the biggest change occur in the last couple of years. But to define the change let’s break this group into two sub-divisions. Let’s call them Sleepwalkers and the Red-Pilled. Back in the early 2000s all the Civic Nationalists (including myself) were Sleepwalkers. We believed that the Bush family was conservative. W told us he was a religious conservative. We thought he meant that he believed in the social conservative beliefs. We thought he would defend and protect the traditional values that formed the basis of the support that allowed him to send millions of young men half way around the world to primitive lands where they would put their bodies in harms way to fight his wars.
But the more we defended W, the more he embraced the programs and policies that exposed his constituency to impoverishment through globalist financial policies and replacement by illegal migration. By the time the Bushes had come to publicly embrace the Clintons and the Obamas it was becoming plain to a small part of the Civic Nationalists that we were being played. This group decamped and became the Dissident Right (some called themselves the Alt-Right). Others were just confused and demoralized that all the loyalty and sacrifice that went into the Afghan and Iraq Wars was completely lost on the Neo-Cons and the Republican Establishment. But during the run up to the 2016 election the information that the Dissident Right had decoded started becoming disseminated and a small group of the Civic Nationalists became “red-pilled.” They realized that if Jeb Bush was the Republican candidate there was no hope of turning around the Anti-American program that Obama had started. In fact, none of the candidates, even ones who believed in the conservative agenda could stand up to the combination of Left-Wing journalism and their own fears of being called racists if they dared campaign against globalism and replacement migration. No one except Trump. And as these red-pilled normies saw the lengths to which the Establishment Republicans and the Left would go in order to defeat Trump they became convinced that the only way to save the country was to destroy the old order. Business as usual would mean the end of our republic as we knew it.
And here is the other big change that has been happening for the last year and a half. The ratio of the Red-Pilled to the Sleepwalkers has been growing. My information is based on the acquaintances I have who have shifted over that time. It is a steady trend and it only goes in one direction. This shift isn’t too important short term because even the Sleepwalkers have accepted Trump and will support him in 2020 but the importance of the Red-Pilled contingent lies in the post-Trump era. The Red-Pilled are far less likely than their Sleepwalking brethren of being fooled again, no more Bushes for them.
To the right of the Red-Pilled Normies lies the Dissident Right. These are the people that are so disillusioned with America that they feel that the only way for them to live free is for the United States to be divided between the Left and the Right. To a large extent these folks feel that racial differences and resentment will prevent the various ethnic populations from living in harmony. They believe that the Left’s use of identity politics will spread to the white population and will splinter the unity of the American nation into racial components that will want to separate to provide each group freedom from oppression by the other groups.
The Dissident Right is a disturbing group to follow. Their theory paints a bleak picture of human nature and the future they predict doesn’t hold much hope for a happy place where America is now. But one thing that cannot be denied is that they understand the Left and how it has been dominating the world for about a century. They understand the psychological and sociological tactics and strategies that the Left has been successfully using to destroy almost every facet of life that we held dear. They’ve destroyed the laws, education, corporations, social institutions, churches, the family, sex roles and now they are even redefining what it means biologically to be a man or a woman. They can predict what the Left will say and do and they can define tactics that will work against these people. That’s pretty hard to argue with.
For myself, I tend to agree with what they say is wrong with our society. But I presume that if the practices are changed then the result will change too. For instance, I think that the anti-male, anti-normal and anti-white rhetoric and governmental policies that the Left has enshrined and which breed animosity between people can be eliminated. Once these things are removed the reasons for resentments will be eliminated too. But I also will admit that I can’t be 100% sure that they are wrong. After all they have seen things when others didn’t. For me the jury is out on their predictions. But I hold onto my civic nationalist beliefs.
So that’s what I see to the right of the Left. The biggest chunk is still the Civic Nationalists and, in that chunk, the Red-Pilled Normies are growing and the Sleepwalkers are slowly waking up. The Centrist are on our side at the moment but as always, they blow with the wind. The Establishment Republicans are useless and in it for themselves but they’ll go along if a strong man drags them by their purse strings. The Neo-cons have returned to the Left where they belonged. And finally, the Dissident Right is the Angry Cynic who sees the Con-Man on the Left shaking down the Idealists and warns the rest of us to prepare for a fight.
Trump vs It’s a Good Life (Part 1)
Dramatis Personae: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez – (AOC); Narrator who looks and sounds like Rod Serling – (NRS); Barack Obama – (BO); Michelle Obama – (MO); Bill Clinton – (BC); Hillary Clinton – (HC); President Trump – (PT);
Scene 1 – 8 pm, that same night in the Farmhouse; In the corner of the room, Al Gore, Bill Clinton, Bernie Sanders and Beto O’Rourke are sweating away, turning a giant crank on a generator. In the opposite corner A-oh-see, Cory Booker, Hillary Clinton and the Obamas are dancing rather spastically around a disco ball while a wavering light and an unevenly playing sound system produces some unconvincing techno sound. As the exhausted laborers slacken their effort, A-oh-see chastises them.
AOC – Hey white boys, pick up the pace. This is the part where I go, whoot, whoot. Don’t make me warn you again.
The generator crew redouble their efforts and the “whoot, whoot” is a big success. The dancers clap enthusiastically and the crankers collapse to the floor panting.
AOC – The dance is over and that’s all the electricity there is.
MO – That was good electricity A-oh-see, real good.
BO – That was the best electricity I ever seen. Much better than that power plant electricity.
NP – Oh, I don’t know, I remember back in the Obama administration we had lights all the time and copy machines and air conditioning.
HC – It’s real good that you said that Nancy but how could you mean it? Why, A-oh-see’s electricity is much better than that old electricity. That old electricity made global warming and killed baby polar bears.
BO – That’s right Nancy, A-oh-see’s electricity is real good. Much better.
MO – And now it’s time for Bill Clinton’s birthday presents. Everybody gather around.
Hillary hands Bill a bag full of fentanyl patches and a plain brown envelope.
HC – Happy birthday Bill. Many happy returns.
BC – (looking in the envelope) The Pia Zadora Playboy issue! This is a priceless object. He you don’t suppose I could open it up here?
Everyone goes quiet and looks shocked.
BC – Not the pictures just the articles.
BO – I don’t think you should Bill. We don’t know exactly where the articles end and the porn begins.
HC – That’s right Bill. Wait until we get home, where it’s safe. Here, try out the fentanyl patch.
BC – Mmmmmmmmm.
BO – Okay everybody, birthday presents over. Now we’ll hear a speech by Caitlyn Jenner on the false social construct inherent in the ovary.
While everyone sits in rapt fear of not cheering at the right places Bill Clinton wanders around in a fentanyl stupor. Suddenly he starts talking out loud to no one in particular.
BC – You know this is the last fentanyl stash left. And once it’s gone and Al Gore’s oxycontin bottle is empty there won’t be any joy left in the world. No more giggling, no more Ruffies.
Looking around and glaring at Bill AOC shouts.
AOC – Stop talking during the science lesson.
Bill smiles goofily and gives AOC a salute and she turns back to the lecture. Bill opens up his Playboy magazine and with the centerfold flapped open approaches Caitlyn Jenner.
BC – You know Bruce, I mean Caitlyn, I don’t think yours can compare to Pia’s what do you think?
AOC jumps to her feet and shouts at Bill Clinton.
AOC – You’re a bad white man, a very bad white man and if you keep acting all patriarchal, I’m going to think bad things about you.
BC – That’s right A-oh-see you think bad things about me. You concentrate on me and maybe some real man in this room will sneak up behind you and slap a half dozen fentanyl patches between your shoulder blades and end this thing.
Nancy Pelosi picks up her speaker’s gavel off the table where it lies but then puts it back.
AOC – You’re a bad white man, a very bad white man and you keep looking down my blouse.
AOC walks over to Bill Clinton and slaps four fentanyl patches on Bill’s face. Bill starts pulling one off, then smiles goofily and puts it back on. Then he falls face forward like a chopped tree.
BO – A-oh-see put him in the mulch pile please. Please.
She nods her head slightly and a group of Bernie Bros picked up Clinton and hustled him out of the room.
AOC – He was a bad white mand and I used his non-socialized medicine to destroy him. And you better not say anything bad about me Hillary or I’ll get you too.
HC – Oh, A-oh-see, I don’t feel bad about Bill. He got what was coming to him. No sweat. We all love you A-oh-see, you’re everybody’s favorite, that’s what you are.
NRS – So that’s our story, no commentary just an introduction to one of the very special members of the Bizarro Zone.
Suddenly President Trump busts in from in front of the narrator and we realize that the whole scene is taking place in a sound stage.
PT – Alright that’s enough. Officers, arrest these idiots and we’ll straighten everything out at the jail.
AOC – You’re not real. I destroyed you along with the rest of the world a year ago.
PT – Look, you, fruitcake. When you losers were swept out of power in 2020, I didn’t balk when MTV sponsored a reality show to let your deluded followers imagine what it would be like without the normal people but when Bill Clinton ends up as an OD victim at Bethesda that’s where I pull the plug on this thing. We’ll transition most of you into a hospital for the criminally insane but for now we’ll set you up at Guantanamo Bay until you become less dangerous. Okay boys drag them out.
It’s not that his trademark sidle-up and grapple technique is exactly groping. It’s too weird to be exactly that. It’s some kind of Vulcan Mind Meld with a side order of Abortive Creepy Uncle Fondle Maneuver. It’s too bizarre to ignore but too confused to easily categorize.
But how in the wide wonderful world we live in can Joe Biden lead the #MeToo party?
At last count there are at least seven separate women, most of them Democratic party operatives, who have declared themselves creeped out by Creepy Uncle Joe. What percentage of women have to defect in order to swamp the USS Joe Biden? It can’t be that many.
But was all this just a feint? Is this supposed to allow the party faithful to be relieved when Joe slinks back into the retirement home and the real heavyweight jumps into the fray? Is that Beto? Is he neutered enough to allow the women to cast a sigh of relief at not having to vote for the shoulder rubber? Or do we need to go all the way to Buttigieg to have a male Democrat that women won’t be nervous around?
Only time will tell. But I have to say, the #MeToo movement is the gift that keeps on giving. Trump tweeted that video of Biden explaining his grabbiness while in the background another Biden is employing the patented shoulder grab and hair sniff. Of course, Plugs Biden really doesn’t have enough hair to sniff but the video is amusing.
And what’s next? Will it be another Democrat senator or maybe the head of another stalking horse like the SPLC? Or are there any news big shots left that haven’t been put on the spot?
What this might mean is that, as advertised by the dissident right, we may already have seen the last straight white male Democratic presidential candidate. That honor may now belong to John Kerry. Of course, a correction may set in if 2020 doesn’t go according to plan and Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg or Cory Booker goes down in a flaming landslide. At that point it may be necessary for the Dems to rethink (or at least postpone) the white replacement strategy. But it’s very interesting to see how the identity politics of the Democrats seems to be running into the fault lines that exist between the various components of the alliance that makes up the Democratic voting bloc.
And all this is happening in the foreground of the Mueller Report dud. With President Trump crowing about his vindication and making veiled comments about counter-investigations and with the economy humming along it has to be worrying a lot of very important people in Washington that they may be about to see Donald Trump re-elected and possibly stuck with a Republican House that won’t be led by Paul Ryan.
Of course, this is all early speculation but I think the interesting thing to see is how the Democrats’ own radicalization of their constituency is shutting off candidates that have the widest appeal among the swing voters that they so desperately want to attract away from Trump. Thank you, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, thank you, Ilhan Omar. You are the gifts that keep on giving. May you never successfully hide your crazy.
Sorry Creepy Uncle Joe. Your turn is over. I hope you enjoyed the ride.
Dramatis Personae: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez – (AOC); Nancy Pelosi (NP); Al Gore – (AG); Narrator who looks and sounds like Rod Serling – (NRS); Barack Obama – (BO); Michelle Obama – (MO);
Scene 1- Unknown Office building; 8 pm Mid-July
A narrator, who looks and sounds a hell of a lot like Rod Serling circa 1961, is standing in front of a map of the United States
NRS – Tonight’s cautionary tale is most unusual and requires that we imagine the following. Here behind me is a map of the United States. But what if suddenly it disappeared (whole map goes dark except one point of light) and all that was left was a tiny dot called Washington D.C.? Now imagine that within this tiny world there was no longer radio, television, the internet, telephones, gas engines or even electricity. And assume that the only thing that farmers were allowed to grow was vegetables. No beef, pork, chicken or fish. And finally imagine that even wishing for any of these things was now a death sentence executed by a monster. If you can imagine all that you’ve just entered the Bizarro Zone (well I couldn’t use the real name).
Scene 2 – A ramshackle farm building with peeling paint and a wooden porch with a porch swing with an old haggard woman fanning herself with a piece of paper.
NRS – And here is the lair of the monster, a farmhouse with all the misery of pre-industrial life on display. Over there in the swing on the porch is Aunt Nancy Pelosi, she once had the most influence over the monster but one time she hinted that maybe eliminating all private jets wouldn’t be a “good thing” and she was reduced to the cracked-brain non-gavel wielding hag you see before you.
NP – Hey not so much of the hag thing. I just got another facelift and I’m a damn good-looking babe, you male chauvinist pig.
NRS – As I was saying, the monster does not like to be contradicted. Oh, and I’ve forgotten to introduce the monster. She’s a bug-eyed petulant millennial Latina from the Bronx who can’t even spell climatology but don’t be fooled. There’s a nasty mean streak behind that googly eyed expression and what passes for a brain is completely in charge of her surroundings. Meet Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez or as she’s known to her fawning minions A-oh-see. (swift view change to show AOC trying to get something unstuck from between her horse teeth with her pinky nail, then noticing the camera and glaring in a cross-eyed scowl.
Scene 3 – Same farmhouse from the viewpoint facing the road. An overweight man (Al Gore) on a delivery bicycle is straining along the driveway to the house. On the ground in front of the house A-oh-see is playing in the dust. He pulls up in front of her.
AG – Hi, there A-oh-see. My it’s good to see you today. Whatcha doing there? Whatever it is it’s sure good, but I was just wondering what you were doing there.
AOC – I was figuring out how many white men it takes to pull a wagon for ten women of color in the next Cinco de Mayo parade.
AG – Oh, that’s a real good thing. Why I never knew so much good figuring going on as you sure can do.
AOC – Yeah, go away now, you’re starting to make me mad.
(Gore quickly scurries away toward the house. He carries some boxes into the kitchen and addresses Michelle Obama who is shucking corn in the sink)
AG – Hello Mrs. Obama, it’s certainly a good day today and we all just love A-oh-see so much, that’s right, she was out there figuring and figuring and it was just great.
MO – Hello Al. Yeah, it’s certainly a great day all right and we’re real happy here, we are.
AG – I brought you some things for the party tonight. I’ve got corn flour and whole wheat flour and baking soda.
MO – Have you got any white flour for the cake?
AG – Oh, we don’t have any more of that. Not since A-oh-see explained to us just how evil white is. No, we don’t want none of that, we don’t. I mean we used to think it was useful but it’s real good that A-oh-see set us straight on that. Well not straight, we don’t say straight no more we don’t, no sir, I mean no ma’am, Ma’am.
MO – Yeah, it’s funny how you forget how things used to be when you could just say something without being afraid.
AG – Oh, it’s good that you said that but I don’t think you mean it because it’s much better now that we don’t say anything that A-oh-see says is bad. It’s real, good.
MO – That’s right, it’s real, good. But last week when she was denouncing honey because it was stolen from bees, she got so excited from screaming that her eyes were extra bulged out and I thought maybe her blood pressure might be reaching maybe five hundred or something, mumble, mumble, mumble…
(Al Gore looking panicky and grabbing his box and heading for the door)
AG – I better be getting on, but can you let A-oh-see know that I got her corn flour that she likes so much? Can you tell her it was me who got it specially for her?
MO – I sure will Al. But don’t worry she hates you much less than most other white men.
Scene 4 – Same farmhouse, upstairs where Barack Obama is putting on his tie for the party. He looks in the mirror and sees A-oh-see staring at him in her friendliest cross-eyed frown.
BO – Oh, hi there, A-oh-see. It’s good that you were standing behind so quiet like.
AOC – None of the other congress persons came to play with me today. I wanted congress persons to play with today.
BO – Yes, it’s good that you wanted them to come but last time you denounced Debbie Wasserman Schultz to the Congressional Black Caucus as a Zionist collaborator and they shaved her head and painted it red. Folks were awful upset about that.
AOC – But I want to play with other congress persons.
BO – Tell you what, we’ll invite some of the rinos. They’ll be so grateful just for being asked that they’ll come even if you do denounce them. they’re used to it anyway. Anyway, A-oh-see everybody loves you. You’re everybody’s favorite.
AOC – But I remember one time that somebody thought bad things about me. I can’t remember who it was. Who was that?
BO – Oh, that was Joe Crowley, after you beat him in the primary. He said you weren’t qualified. But don’t worry, Michelle had the FBI and the IRS defenestrate him so he won’t bother you anymore.
AOC – That’s right Joe Crowley, he was a bad white man, a very bad white man. I hate anybody who doesn’t do what I want.
BO – But everybody loves you A-oh-see, you’re everybody’s favorite. Now come on, let’s get ready for the party.
To be continued …
Trump’s rally in Michigan got started about a half hour late but I still watched the first thirty, forty minutes. Boy, he was having fun. He reminisced about the Michigan rally he had on the night before the 2016 election. And he managed to re-use his Hillary chant of “lock her up” as “lock them up” for the Russia-gate crew.
But what I was interested about was whether he was serious when he said that the conspirators must be held accountable. If he means he expects a prosecutor to indict them then I’m very interested. That would be a quantum leap from what has always been Republican status quo. Remember when George W. Bush assigned a prosecutor over the Plame fake scandal. The prosecutor tortured Bush’s associates for years and Bush never even gave forlorn Scooter Libby a pardon, merely commuted his sentence.
If instead of meekly taking a beating President Trump turns the tables on the FBI it could be the chance to reform the intelligence agencies into what they are supposed to be, the servants of the people not our masters. Of course, that’s almost a science fiction story but why shouldn’t I hope? After all we’ve never seen a man like Trump in the White House. Who’s to say that he won’t bust the whole dirty establishment to pieces just to get revenge on the creeps who tortured him for three years?
Hey, that felt good! Anyway, it’s good to hear President Trump happy again. Let’s see if he can leverage the momentum, he’s got from the Mueller capitulation to stampede these buffaloes off a cliff. I sincerely hope he will. But at least let’s enjoy this week. It’s a treat to see the progs suffering the vapors again.
Sundance over at CTH has remarkable stamina for untangling the Gordian Knot of the Russia-Gate conspirators. I confess it’s more than I can stomach. But if you are interested in who did what and when, there is an enormous story to be read. I just hope some of them end up in the slammer. But time will tell.
The dust has begun to settle and maybe there are a few worthwhile observations to make. So, let me ramble a bit here and let’s see if anything substantive emerges.
One small trend emerged. Several very different kinds of people on our side of the divide independently expressed that people responsible for the Russia-gate farce need to be brought to justice and punished. And they were shooting pretty high. Several wanted Obama convicted. I volunteered that I thought the latter possibility highly unlikely. I also said that to my way of thinking if a vindictive bastard like Trump didn’t go looking for payback it meant only one of two things. The first choice was that he had made a political calculation that retribution would hurt his chances of re-election. The other possibility is that he can’t because Barr won’t let it happen. My thought is that Barr is the firewall and Mueller only ended the investigation because it was understood that Barr would drop the curtain on the whole Russia-gate affair and all the players would be allowed to shuffle off to their next appointed posts. When I told this to my friends one of them said well then Trump can fire Barr and put in his own man. And I said that maybe Mitch McConnell won’t allow that to happen. And that made him quiet.
The other thing that occurs to me about where we are is that Trump is in an excellent position to start some trouble. My thought is he should tackle the Tech giants. Declaring Google, Facebook and Amazon monopolies should be simple. After all they are! Smashing those companies would be good for American business, civil liberties and for the Right. Even the Democrats are smart enough to know that these companies aren’t popular and if Trump crushes them, he can make sure we benefit from the slaughter.
And it’s time he started building some of that wall. Even if it’s just a symbolic portion. He needs to use that three billion and them come back and say he needs more. That’s what he has to run on. And he has to start moving on the rest of his agenda. Even if it means using the pen and the phone. And he needs to start calling out lunatics like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez when she starts talking about spending hundreds of trillions of dollars for rainbows and unicorns. It’ll be popular and it will be hilarious.
So, let’s see what my ramblings come to.
If the DOJ doesn’t go after the Russia-gate swamp creatures then in my estimation Barr is the stopper that ends the war without our side getting a chance to punch back. Or Trump doesn’t think it’s wise. But that seems less likely to me.
Trump has a good window this year to do some substantive things like go after the Tech Giants and build the Wall. If he takes no initiative then he would seem to be a spent force and that would be very bad for our side.
So, these are the two things to look at in the next few months. I’ll check back from time to time to see how this looks in the light of later developments. But these are my thoughts on where we are and how we’ll know where we are headed.
What do you think?
