You Can Sense the Fear

The Left is becoming palpably afraid.  I watched all the video clips of Elizabeth Warren and the crones on The View and the other crazies.  I read the articles in the New Yorker, MSNBC and the Atlantic about abortion and Biden’s poll numbers and Trump’s dominance over the Republican party.  I read articles by Harvard economists that threw up their hands and said that inflation will outstrip salaries no matter what is done but that bringing it eventually under control will require increasing interest rates to a point that guarantees a recession.

Bad news reigns supreme over the Left everywhere they look.  And it just keeps getting worse.  Even the few sources that claim they see the SCOTUS leak as a golden opportunity to win the mid-terms don’t sound as if they can even convince even themselves of their story.  There is no confidence on the Left and they’re trapped in a vicious cycle of Biden blunders and crumbling trust in the incompetent leaders of the Democrat party.

And what is their answer to losses?  Why, it’s heavy-handed attacks on the rule of law.  If a SCOTUS decision goes against them, they doxx the Supreme Court Justices’ home addresses.   If Elon Musk threatens to allow free speech on Twitter the Department of Homeland Security sets up the Ministry of Truth to punish free speech with Orwellian thought crime tactics.  These are truly desperate people.

And frankly it’s music to my ears.  America is getting to see first hand and hour by hour what a dysfunctional, inept and authoritarian regime looks like up close and personal.  From the hyperbolic lies of Dementia Joe to the incoherent screeching of Kamala Harris to the flat out lunacy of Elizabeth Warren having a panic attack.  Added to this we have the mainstream media spouting their partisan talking points while also reluctantly reporting the daily failures of the Biden administration.

This level of failure hasn’t been seen since Jimmy Carter oversaw his 1979 national malaise.  But honestly, this present catastrophe is just getting started.  It looks like the Democrats’ decision to achieve the “great reset” has achieved instead the great collapse.  Between the de-industrialization of America, the rejection of fossil fuels and the COVID lockdowns they’ve managed to collapse the vitality of the country.  It’s as if the nation is a patient in the emergency room suffering from shortness of breath and the incompetent ER doctor is treating this by holding a plastic bag over the patient’s face.

I’m trying to imagine where we’ll be by November.  Extrapolating the current trends, we might be in a shooting war with the Russians, gasoline will be $9 a gallon and the Thanksgiving turkey will cost $200.  Well, none of that will be pleasant but it may be necessary to finally get rid of the Democrats.

I saw a quote after the Republican primaries in Ohio by Mitt Romney.  He admitted that Vance’s win put to bed any speculation that Donald Trump’s influence over Republican voters was waning.  He as much as admitted that he was pretty much isolated from the main stream of Republican opinion.  So, if even Mittens is admitting defeat in his war on Trump, I can see the 2022 mid-terms won’t be just a landslide they’ll be a reckoning.  The voters aren’t “sending a message.”  They’re trying to save their country from ruin.  If only every senator was up for re-election along with the House in 2022, we might be able fire Biden and Harris too.

What we can do after the elections is keep up the pressure with investigations into the various outrages committed by Biden and company and quarterly impeachments of Dementia Joe.  It’s going to be a long two and a half years but it’s good to know that our enemies are in disarray and thoroughly frightened at what’s happening to their brilliant plan.  Good let them stew in their fear.

One of the most iconic cinematic moments is Kirk Douglas in the movie Spartacus trying to rally his men before the final battle scene that he knows is stacked against his army.  He says, “Friends, I’d rather be here, a free man among brothers, facing a long march and a hard fight, than the richest citizen in Rome: fat with food he didn’t work for, and surrounded by slaves.”

Today I needed Spartacus to liberate me from the bondage that Camera Girl afflicted me with.   Out of the blue she declared that today I was to be an agricultural helot.  She had me uprooting trees, clearing poison ivy and planting shrubs.  As luck would have it today was warm and sunny and the May flies were biting.  But I didn’t quail.  I took my shovel, rolled up my sleeves and sang a spiritual about Pharoah and the Israelites.

There were no water breaks, no food breaks, not even a bathroom break.  She truly is a monster.  Finally, just as my back could take no more, the last stubborn root let go and the last tree was out.  I finished carrying the offending trees and the other scrap to the mulch pile just as the sun sank below the horizon in Dunwich.  Satisfied that the work was complete I was allowed to have my dinner.  But because I wasn’t sufficiently grateful for the gruel, I was told that tomorrow I would have to make bricks without straw.  How cliché.

So anyway, I was busy today with yard work.  I read through the news and it’s interesting just how uniformly bleak are the projections for the Democrats’ chances in the mid-terms.  Even CNN and MSNBC are declaring the abysmal approval ratings of Dementia Joe.  Of course, they throw in the obligatory qualifier that none of this is Joe’s fault but they have finally landed on the truth that none of the excuses that Biden and Psaki have been claiming seem to be working.

Even though I’m one of the victims of Dopey Joe’s sabotage of the American economy I have the consolation of knowing that it will lose the Democrats control of the legislative branch of the federal government in November.  And even though I know that’s a limited victory it’s starting to seem like that won’t be the only consequence.  I can’t point to anything specific but I think Americans as a whole have sort of reached the limit of what they’ll put up with from the Democrats and now are looking to get rid of them.  Now, how that’s going to happen I don’t know but hopefully there will be some smart guys out there to focus the outrage of the common people and use it to build some kind of movement.

I think it has to start with the governors of the Red States.  They have the power and independence from the feds to try and organize a coherent plan to prepare for 2024.  To my mind the most important actions would be around preventing voter fraud.  That would have a profound effect on morale.  And I’ve read that DeSantis has already taken steps in Florida to allow rapid action if voter fraud is suspected.

Well, all this unbridled enthusiasm is dizzying.  I have to keep reminding my self that Mitch McConnell and Kevin McCarthy are the top Congressional Republicans.  That calms me down pretty quickly.  But maybe they won’t be the leaders for long.  And I’m not expecting them to be replaced by James Madison and Thomas Jefferson.  I have no illusions.  But I’m sure there are better people out there.  I mean, almost anyone would be better.  Even Beavis and Butthead would do.  I just can’t accept that we will be held captive by these establishment ciphers.  Trump showed that if you speak the truth people will follow you.  What’s so hard for others to do the same?

So, this is my Spartacus Speech.  Fire the drones, the ciphers, the hacks, the grifters.  That’s what the primary season should be about this year.  And every year.  Fire the phonies and give someone else a try.  If they fail fire them too.  Americans deserve better leaders.  We need to stop being afraid of “losing the majority.”  A majority with the McConnells and the McCarthys is useless anyway.  Get rid of the fakes.  We’ll never get anywhere when somehow Mitt Romney is on “our side.”

First Reports on 2022 Primaries

Here we are in the 2022 Primary Election Season.  Last night J. D. Vance won his race primarily because Donald Trump rescued him from Vance’s own earlier statements calling Trump reprehensible.  Whether Vance really regrets his earlier statements or is following his political self-interest is very hard to know.  But even if it is the latter, it is a sign that politicians are awakening to the reality that almost all Republican voters, most Independents and even some Democrats are completely fed up with the madness that has been going on at the behest of the Left for the last few years.

And that is good.

It’s good because if politicians think that their self-interest is tied to the America First movement then some progress will be made.  And more important than this carrot will be the stick.  The fate of the Republican congressional representatives who voted for Trump’s impeachment will be an object lesson for the rest of the Congressional Clowns who suckle at the Federal Teat.  Seeing these “brave patriots” losing their cozy offices on Capitol Hill and forced to look for honest work will send chills of panic down the spines of their fellow congress critters.

Who knows it might even energize mavericks like Mittens Romney to suddenly see the light and discover their hidden love of all things Trumpian.  Stranger things have happened.  But that would be a shame.  There is nothing I would enjoy more than seeing Romney successfully primaried out of office in 2024.

So, what we may be seeing is the beginning of the reaction to the 2020 debacle.  It won’t be 100% effective.  Phonies will masquerade as friends.  Crooks will sneak in as they always do but even they will begin to vote the right way.  These people can tell which way the wind blows and they’ll join the winning side at least for the moment.  What’s more important will be to see if any effective plans are made by our “leaders.”  Blocking any further Biden judicial candidates is a no brainer.  Investigations into things like the Biden laptop could produce useful headlines in the run-up to the 2024 election season.

Most important is to deny Biden anymore funds for his Climate Change boondoggles.  The trillions of dollars that have been poured into the coffers of phony green energy companies is the source of all the corruption that the Democrats feed on.  Cutting off that supply is critical to saving our economy.  Unfortunately, many of the Republicans feed at that same trough.  It will take a long time before the McConnells of the Republican Party are finally booted out of Washington.

But the single biggest thing that the 2022 mid-terms can provide us with is the spectacle of Joe Biden going through an impeachment.  It’s 99% sure he won’t be convicted but performing the trial will provide a powerful image of all the things that were swept under the carpet in 2020 being put on display.  All of the obvious evidence of Joe Biden’s complicity in Hunter’s influence peddling will be exposed.  And all the other failures of the Biden administration can be tacked on too if there is a good way to present them as malfeasance or even incompetence.

So, this is all just foreshadowing what I hope to see as the results of a successful 2022 election cycle.  But I will confess there does seem to be more energy than I anticipated.  Could we be seeing a really big change this time?

David Brooks Begs Democrats to Stop Being Democrats or Else Trump Will Win in 2024

David Brooks the premier Never Trumper who left the Republicans to rejoin his real friends on the Left, is now warning the Democrats that in order to avoid disaster in 2024 they will have to pretend to be Republicans.  At least until after Election Day.

“We all make mistakes; the question is, do we learn from them? Over the past couple of years people on the left side of the political and cultural spectrum have made their share. These have contributed to the Democrats’ extremely bleak political prospects going into the midterms. Far worse, it is now quite plausible that Donald Trump could win re-election in 2024.”

Notice how the real danger is that Donald Trump could get back in the White House.

Now he gives his pals the benefit of his vast knowledge of conservative lore that he still has from his years as a fake conservative.  He gives them a laundry list of progressive talking points that have made them radioactive with the American voters.

“If we’re going to prevent that kind of catastrophe, it might be a good idea to learn a few relevant lessons:

  • It is possible to overstimulate the economy.
  • Law and order is not just a racist dog whistle.
  • Don’t politicize everything.
  • Border security is not just a Republican talking point.
  • “People of color” is not a thing.
  • Deficits do matter.
  • The New Deal happened once.

Year after year Democrats imagine that if they can hand people checks and benefits, they will be rewarded with votes, allowing them to build a dominant majority coalition. It’s not that simple. I enthusiastically supported many of these policies, but we live in an age in which culture, values and identity issues drive politics at least as much as policy.”

But if you look at that list, it’s the whole Democrat campaign platform.  If you take away all of those things all they have left is graft and corruption without even a fig leaf.

“The Democrats’ largest problem is this: We are living in an age of fear, insecurity and disorder on an array of fronts. The Republicans have traditionally been known as the party of toughness and order. Democrats are going to have to find a posture that is tough on disorder, and tough on the causes of disorder.”

This is hilarious.  Here is Brooks trying to tell his Democrat friends that everything about them is causing the electorate to run screaming to the Republicans.  And not just Independents.  Whole chunks of the Democrat coalition are peeling off.  Hispanics, black men, Asians, Jews, even suburban women are splintering off from the Democrat vote in significant numbers.  And so, since Brooks isn’t a Republican any more, he’s looking to shore up the only side left open to him.

But of course, they can’t pay heed to his warning.  He’s asking them to give up their religion.  And so, November will be a powerful experience.  Well maybe David Brooks can get a job at Reason Magazine.

The Great RINO Hunt of 2022

Polls continue to stream in confirming just how toxic the Democrat brand is right now.  The latest one by Susquehanna Polling & Research has the generic Republican congressional candidate up 10 points over his hapless Democrat challenger.  So, it’s getting harder and harder to believe that the Republicans won’t be the recipients of a totally undeserved election gift.  They’re going to be given majorities in both Houses.

But I find none of that compelling.  What I’m fascinated by is knowing exactly how many RINO’s are going to be primaried out of office.  To my mind this is a much more important number and one that will determine whether the GOP will be useful or useless to us over the last two years of the Biden reign of stupid.  After all, if a bunch of traitors like Liz Cheney and Lisa Murkowski get kicked to the curb in November it will have a salutary effect on other RINO’s like Mitt Romney who were not up for re-election in 2022.  For a slug like Mitt losing his senate seat would be tantamount to disgrace.  So, if he sees his fellow mollusks cast out of their cushy sinecures this year he will scurry back to the middle where he will try to portray himself as a “severely conservative” culture warrior.  Who knows he might even start swearing and claiming that he’s not happy about the January 6th protestors being left to rot in prison for years.

Trump has a list of the ten Republican congressional representatives who voted to impeach him and seven senators who voted to convict.  Lisa Murkowski of Alaska is the only senator up for re-election in November but of course the terms for all ten representatives are also up then.  But already four of them have decided to retire.  The six remaining reps are all being vigorously pursued by primary challengers who probably have a very good chance of bumping them all off.  And Murkowski is also in a dog fight to survive her primary senate challenger.  I understand that Rep. David Valadao of California is a friend of minority leader Kevin McCarthy and will get as much support as he can hope for from that ally.  But I’m sure Valadao is sweating pretty hard about his chances.

There’s nothing scientific about how I’m looking at this RINO hunt.  But I think the results can be used as a good barometer of whether election results will track the will of the conservative voters.  First off, if Cheney isn’t booted out then there is something hopeless about the chances of getting good Republicans in Congress.  From what I’ve read her approval rating is in the neighborhood of 10% of the Republicans in Wyoming.  And even if a bunch of Democrats vote for her, she should lose in a landslide to the woman that Trump endorsed.

The Valadao race is in California and between the dominant nature of the Democrat party there and the likelihood of voting skullduggery I wouldn’t be surprised if he survived the primary.  And there are two other candidates from Washington state which is also highly progressive.  So at least three of the six have some doubts attached.  But Cheney and the other two races should be slam dunks.  And to my mind Murkowski should be toast too.

So, let’s just say that if any of those four dead ducks survive that will provide strong evidence that even where Republicans are in the majority that RINO’s aren’t going to disappear.  I’ll characterize this as a test to see just how stupid the Stupid Party really is.

What Happens After the Mid-Terms?

Prognostication, predicting the future.  Oh, what a foolish thing to do.  But let’s talk about after the mid-terms.  But what happens afterward depends on how they end up to some extent.  Let’s look at the possibilities and then the follow-up for each case.

Suppose the Democrats somehow get through the elections and maintain their majorities in both Houses.   Based on the current projections this is the most unlikely outcome but let’s say for the sake of argument that SCOTUS overturns Roe and the Media manages to enflame the female half of America to go on the warpath and vote out every Republican they can.  So, let’s say the Democrats gain seats in the Senate and House.  This would have the effect of emboldening Biden and would mean there would be even more radicalization of the actions being taken by the feds and that would also translate at the state and local levels in Democrat locales.  That would make things increasingly worse for us and would also indicate that the Dems would hold the White House in 2024.

But as I said this is an almost absurdly unlikely election outcome.  Voter sentiment is lopsidedly negative on Biden’s performance in office.  And this has translated effectively against the Democrats in Congress and in state and local governments.  So, let’s look at a more likely outcome.

Currently the polls indicate that the Republicans are likely to take back the House of Representatives with a shift of somewhere between thirty and sixty seats.  The Senate is predicted to return to Republican control with a shift of two to five seats.  What happens then?

The Republicans capturing Congress will put an end to Biden appointing anymore Supreme Court justices or any other judges if the Senate is in that mood.  It will also limit the kinds of cabinet changes that Biden will be able to make during his last two years in office. And finally, it will put an end to any laws he is hoping to pass.  And those are all good things.  In addition, the House and Senate can go about investigating and probably impeaching Biden for the multitude of shady deeds that have been leaking out of the Hunter Biden laptop scandal.  There won’t be enough votes to convict him in the Senate but plenty to get the impeachment going in the House.  And the investigations will uncover enough dirt to make the 2024 election a mud-slinging extravaganza.

But all these good things won’t change the fact that Biden will still have two years to continue his destruction of the working and middle classes in this country.  We will have to endure his open borders nightmare and the punishing inflation that his terrible policies have inflicted on us.

Now let’s look at the other unlikely possibility.  Suppose by November that the country crashes spectacularly.  A bad recession strikes but inflation goes on raging.  If this were bad enough the country might get truly desperate and even Democrats might throw out their own senators and representatives.  This would give the Republicans enough votes in the Senate to convict Biden and Harris.  And that would force the Speaker of the House into the presidency.  Now this would have the added benefits over the last options of ending all of Biden’s awful programs.  And it would give the incoming president a clear powerful majority in Congress and a clear mandate for change.

But the chaos inherent in this kind of violent change would require extremely smart handling to prevent it from devolving into chaos.  Think about it.  Kevin McCarthy would be President of the United States.  How exactly is that supposed to work?  Sure, there might be ways of making someone else president but the mind boggles trying to figure out how it doesn’t all go wrong.  And as I said it’s a very unlikely scenario.

So, the short answer to this whole question is that after the mid-terms we will be looking at a weakened but not neutralized Joe Biden.  It’s possible that if he’s serious about running 2024 he may try to triangulate to less unpopular actions and policies but that’s unlikely.  Other people are pulling his strings and they’ll use his last two years to keep the damage coming.  I think they know at this point that 2024 will most likely go to a Republican.

So, that’s my read.  Don’t assume that because Joe Biden has loused up the country that the mid-terms will fix everything.  What it tells me is I need to figure out a way to survive the damage of the next two and a half years and hope and pray that we find someone who can break us out of the death trap we find ourselves in.

Arizona Law Requiring Proof of Citizenship to Vote Should Provide a Good Test of SCOTUS

This election season Dementia Joe and his evil minions will try to swamp the polls with illegal voters.  Arizona’s law attempting to prevent this abuse will be a test case to see if the “conservative” Supreme Court is worth the breath that’s been spent talking about it.  The law is sure to be challenged.  Either elections can be made to run fairly or we’re a banana republic.  Currently 2020 proved we’re a failed state but maybe, just maybe, there are still enough people left who want their freedom back to turn this thing around.  My proof that this can happen will be sixty new Republican seats in the House and ten more Republican senate seats.

I think that’s fair.

The Bumper Sticker Slogan Post

Some people liked the idea of a 2022 Election Bumper Sticker.  My entry was:

Just Impeach the Dumbasses

But it occurred to me that polling the folks out there might be fun and might also uncover even better slogans.  So I propose to use this post to collect the reading audience’s choices in the comments and then I will put together a poll and try to get a wider audience to vote on the best slogan.  Democracy in action!

So go ahead and do your best.  Let’s see what kind of Madison Avenue inventiveness exists.  Eat your heart out Don Draper!

Impeach the Idiots! or ITI

Midterm Slogan: Impeach the Dumbasses

The Democrats and their boosters have settled on the dual strategy of blaming Putin for inflation and also telling Americans that downgrading their lives is the solution to poverty.  I saw a Bloomberg publication advising people who can’t pay their bills to:

  • Take the bus
  • Don’t buy in bulk
  • Try lentils instead of meat
  • Nobody said this would be fun

Brilliant!  Why didn’t I think of that?  I’ve got one.  Sell your blood.  Wonderful!

But it seems obvious that this opens a very good opportunity for the Republicans to be seen as the party that wants Americans not to be poor.  They can have a slogan like, “The Democrats want you to barely survive; The Republicans want you to thrive.”

It’s truly pathetic that McConnell and McCarthy haven’t already rolled out a campaign for November that targets Democrat voters.  They should harangue Democrats in all fifty states to provide enough votes in the Senate to convict both Biden and Harris of being dumbasses who have allowed the US economy to deteriorate to where Americans can’t buy meat for their kids.  We’d need sixty-seven votes in the Senate and that is probably a bridge too far but it would make a killer advertising campaign.  Imagine showing cuts of Biden and Harris spouting gibberish, graphs showing gas and food prices skyrocketing and then finish by saying, “Can we afford to wait three more years to get rid of Biden?  By then there won’t be anything left.  Vote Republican to get rid of the dumbasses.”

I think it has definite appeal.  One thing such a campaign strategy might do is sow dissension in Democrat ranks.  Democrat senators who are up for re-election will try to distance themselves from Biden and Harris.  Some might even agree with the campaign to help bolster their chances for re-election.  Even if we don’t get the sixty-seven votes in November there might be some senators up for re-election in 2024 who might work with the Republicans to get rid of Biden and Harris next year.

And what it will do is appeal to people’s desire to get out of the trap we’re in.  Who wants to hear that we have to wait until 2025 to see the last of Dementia Joe and the Nitwit?  Even if it doesn’t succeed it might get us a few more seats and those will help to offset poisonous fools like Romney.  Yeah, I like this idea.  I think I’ll have a flag made that says, “Impeach the Dumbasses.”  It’s not as inspirational as Make America Great Again or anything like that but it’s short, punchy and abusive which plays to my strengths.

I’ll fly the flag in the run-up to Election Day and have a barbecue to raise money for “Impeach the Dumbasses” bumper stickers.  Come to think of it, maybe I can have them made up by one of those web sites that make custom bumper stickers and sell them on the site.  You know, it’s sort of my patriotic duty to do it.  And I might even make a few bucks too. Win, win.

Update:  So there have been a few people interested in actually buying a bumper sticker.  If anyone knows of an on-line company that does a good job making these things cheaply and conveniently let me know.  Me and my big mouth!

What Do the Poll Numbers Tell Me?

For decades I’ve noticed that political polls in the United States had a very noticeable bias.  Depending on whether they were ridiculously partisan polls or just slightly biased they would skew more or less to the Left.  They were able to produce this bias by overestimating the percentage of the population that is Democrat and underestimating the Republican share.  And it was just assumed by me that we had to throw our own fudge factor in when trying to make sense of the actual political situation from these flawed measures.

But look at Joe Biden’s approval ratings on RCP now.

These are horrible numbers.  And they’re close to accurate.  Rasmussen is one of the few pollsters that doesn’t favor Democrats.  He’s got Dementia Joe at 42 – 57.  CNN which is perpetually in the tank for the Dems has 42 – 57.  That’s not an accident.  Those are real numbers.  And why are they doing this?  Because Biden’s numbers with Democrats are terrible too.  Or in another way to look at it, a lot of the people who voted for Biden have switched parties.  The proportion of voters who claim to be Democrats has shrunk.  They’ve shifted to the Republicans or at least to Independents.  And they mean that they’ll be voting for Republicans even though they don’t want to be called Republicans because they’re women and they don’t want their friends to judge them harshly.

All this tells me that the midterms are going to be very bad for the Dems.  They will lose the House and the Senate.  I think that’s a given.  Does it mean anything more?  Only maybe.  It’s completely within the control of the Republicans to do what they typically do and blow this golden opportunity.  They can use their control of the Congress to collect fees from the donors and lobbyists, as usual.  They can ignore their duty and not thoroughly investigate and document for the American people the blatant and systematic voter fraud that happened in 2020.  Or they can for once act like the leaders of a free people.

Normally I’d say the chance of them doing the right thing was zero.  But things are significantly different this time.  Donald Trump refuses to let sleeping dogs lie.  He continues to rally the people to support efforts to investigate the 2020 election.  He continues to call out the RINO’s like Liz Cheney who support Democrat lies like the “Insurrection.”  And some of the state leaders are making the right noises too.  They are attempting to safeguard their election processes.

Putting all this together I’d say we’re at about a fifty percent chance of something good coming out of the present situation.  Admittedly that’s not a glowing prospect but compared to how things have gone for most of my life, it’s a reason to hope.

The polls actually give us good information for the first time in decades.  The people are pissed off.  Now it will take the politicians to get their act together.  Let’s pray that some actual leaders will emerge and use the opportunity.
