Post Mid-Term Agenda

Talking about something positive last night in my post was such fun I thought I’d try that again.  Let’s do a little thought experiment.  Let’s assume that the current awful approval rating for Creepy Uncle Joe is a harbinger of mid-term woes for the Democrats.  Despite some of the recent happy-happy talk from the progressive pundits let’s assume that our friends on the Left are about to relinquish control of both the House and the Senate.  This doesn’t seem much of a stretch.  After all the Democrats themselves have all but confirmed that they know Nancy Pelosi is about to be relieved of her gavel for the very last time before being packed up and shipped off to the Botox Wax Museum for permanent display.  The Republicans taking back the Senate isn’t as foregone a conclusion but I think it’s a pretty safe bet.  So where will that put things?

Well, for starters, that should put an end to the federal judges appointed by Dopey Joe.  McConnell has shown before that he can hold up those appointments indefinitely.  He can at least make himself useful doing that.  And while he’s at it, he can slow down the approval process for the replacement cabinet members that will be needed once it’s seen that Biden is a lame duck.

And how about the Hunter Biden investigations that will be taking place in the House and Senate?  One question will be whether the video exhibits will be kept at R or X rated.  But the more important issue is whether the networks and the social media sites will censor the Congress of the United States when it impeaches Joey Boy for influence peddling.  After all they did it to the President of the United States.  What’s to stop them from doing the same to the legislative branch too?  Previously I said the House should impeach Biden three times to make him the champion in impeachment, maybe even the greatest of all time (GOAT).  But I’m not sure.  Maybe instead of just impeaching Joe, they should spread it around.  It seems that Garland fellow is a real jerk and could use an impeachment too.  And come to think of it, impeaching Kamala would be fun.  And what the hell, how about Mayor Pete too.  I know he’s busy breastfeeding the twins but he shouldn’t be neglected either.

And between impeachments maybe Congress can try something new and actually do some legislation.  Here’s an idea.  How about they try and write the budget for next year?  I know that fell out of fashion during the Obama regime but how about resurrecting it?  And here’s a crazier idea.  How about making it a balanced budget?  After all we’re not technically fighting a war right now.  Maybe we can cancel a few of the new defense contracts and stop sending COVID checks to people who should be working for a living and stop paying the FBI altogether.

Now, sure, Biden won’t sign the budget.  But make him reject it.  Let him add that to his other failures and let Trump or whoever is running in 2024 beat him over the head with his refusal to stop the endless deficits.

It seems to me we have some very interesting days ahead after the mid-terms.  Sure, Biden will be torturing us with IRS agents sifting through our e-mails and FBI agents rooting through our garbage.  But unless Biden’s got this voter fraud thing down to a science there’s a pretty good chance, he’s going to get the boot in 2024.

There.  That felt good.

We Interrupt This Disaster to Bring You a Sliver of Hope

In my less gloomy moments, I try to think about the things we’ll need to do once (or I should say if) we ever pry control of the country away from the woke bug men.  And one of the highest priorities is to master plan the energy economy for this country for the next two hundred years.

Every twenty years or so we have an energy crisis.  Regardless of whether the total oil and gas reserves of this planet can be estimated in decades or centuries, it is criminal for the people in charge of this country to leave the energy decisions in the hands of boobs like Al Gore and Barrack Obama.  These individuals couldn’t perform an energy budget for their own houses never mind the planet.  And as for that cretin in the White House now I wouldn’t trust him to be able to find his own head with both hands.

It’s an undeniable fact that almost every college in America is completely controlled by Leftists.  They not only control the Humanities and Social Science departments but even the hard sciences and engineering are captured.  This is a terrible situation for any number of reasons but it’s also disastrous for the limits it puts on the technological progress that can be made to escape from the group think going on over energy policy.

If all of the engineering students are being shunted into windmill and solar panel design then we’re going to be stuck when the current generation of nuclear and petroleum engineers retire.  Now granted, it’s not like the knowledge will die with these men.  And there are other countries like France and even India where progress is being made in nuclear plant design.  But since the first nuclear pile in the world was built in this country it’s an affront to our history to think that we’ll reach such a sad state that we’ll have to hire foreigners to man our nuclear industry.

I suppose things will have to get a lot worse before they’ll get better.  Maybe it’ll take a major grid meltdown where thousands of people die of frostbite to wake up the woke from their love affair with Gaia.  But whatever it takes I’m pretty sure it will happen eventually.  And afterward the important thing is that the non-leftists must speak convincingly and carefully to the public at large and tell them in no uncertain terms that the future will include nuclear energy in an ever-expanding role.  It doesn’t have to be a sudden switch.  The global warming alarmists have exaggerated the impact of fossil fuels.  But the reality is that once an audit is made of petroleum resources it’s very likely that we will need a new energy source for our great grandchildren.  Waiting until the need is critical is foolish.  There will be associated technologies that will take decades or even centuries to mature to the point where we currently are with oil and gas.

After all, we will probably want to begin transitioning from gasoline to hydrogen as a vehicle fuel.  Building out that infrastructure, both for generation and distribution will require a lot of time and money.  And the whole life cycle of uranium and the other radio-isotopes have to be planned very carefully to optimize safety and cost and minimize waste.

Back in the 1970s there was the Three Mile Island accident in the United States.  The hippies of the Baby Boomer generation were able to destroy the nuclear power industry thanks to the cowardice of the politicians of the time.  And the Chernobyl disaster in the 1980s further sealed its fate.  But the energy density of fission reactors I’m sure will eventually beckon to our descendants and that is where the energy future lies.

As I said, in my more hopeful moments these are the things I see as priorities for our future.  This stands in stark contrast with the idiocy of the Greta Thunbergs of the world.  And it’s probably true that a painful failure of their world view will be a necessary part of moving on to a rational energy policy.  Maybe the way it happens is a Red State takes it upon itself to pioneer a nuclear industry and leave the rest of the country behind.  There’s my guess.

I now return you to your program of doom and gloom already in progress.

Celebrating the Rituals of Summer in Stalinist America

So yesterday Camera Girl and I travelled to our favorite seaside paradise to celebrate the sun and surf with all of my descendants and their spouses in the appropriate fashion.  There was swimming, boogie boarding, sand castles, crab hunting, sea shell collecting and sun bathing.  Afterwards there was way too much fattening food and an enormous portion of ice cream.

All this was followed by various board games.  I was unsurprised to discover how many of my descendants were very good chess players.  But the game that they really got excited about was Yahtzee.  Now I’ve been known to join in the game.  But I was shocked by the maniacal chants of “bonus Yaht” that echoed around the vacation house as an inordinate number of these five of a kind dice throws occurred.  In fact, I volunteered the opinion that the dice were loaded.  These shrieking fanatics, which included Camera Girl, paid no attention to my analysis and cheered the shocking luck.  But it was impossible to deny that I had a better time watching this game than I can remember watching any professional sports game in the last dozen years.

This morning we got up early and were treated to a delicious breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes and sweet bread by our host.  Then we took a walk on the boardwalk and saw the sights such as they are.  Unfortunately, one of the destinations was a souvenir shop where Camera Girl added two more hermit crabs to her colony.  Princess Sack of Potatoes finds these shell-shifting crustaceans fascinating so Camera Girl uses them as an attraction which gives her leverage over the diminutive royalty.  Apparently spending time with these invertebrates is a bargaining chip for such behavioral manifestations as hand washing, vegetable ingestion and cooperation at nap time.

So, I forked over the card and even carried the paper bag containing these refugees from a seafood bar.  And before we knew it the trip was over.  We weren’t staying the whole week like the younger contingent.  As the elder statesman my mission was to give the benediction that confirmed that the next generation had mastered the skills needed to host a family event at Old Orchard Beach (OOB).  And then to get out and leave enough room for the young to enjoy the facilities so full of my descendants.

As we drove home, we reflected on all the traditions that we built up over the couple of decades that we brought our kids to this seaside town in Maine.  And now the torch is passed and the grandkids are getting to do the same things.  When we first moved to New England, we tried the more popular resorts on Cape Cod.  But not only were they very expensive but the atmosphere was too refined.  There was too much antiquing and bicycle paths and not enough bumper cars and roller coasters.  So, I asked an engineer friend of mine who was about thirty years older than I was where could I bring a bunch of kids on vacation that was actually fun.  He said, “OOB.”  Apparently, it was the working-class destination I was looking for.  What it lacked in cachet it more than made up for with a nice white sand beach and clean water.  And the rest is the family dynamic of enjoying the company of your kids.

And while I was driving the considerable distance back to the Compound, I reflected that even under an Orwellian regime like the Biden gang there is still an inner life that can be cultivated with the people who really count.  Sure, we don’t have much money.  With the economy crashed we’re all struggling to make ends meet.  But it doesn’t cost much to play Yahtzee.  And even I still have hermit crab money.  So even in a banana republic life goes on and summer must be celebrated.  So, I’ll put off my despair over the Stasi raids and the 86 million new IRS agents for another day when I’m not as happy and contented.  Bonus Yaht!

Thoughts on Our New Status as a Banana Republic

Tomorrow and Wednesday I’m on the road.  So, posting will be iffy.  Of course, now that Brandon is unleashing the Stasi and the IRS to round up all of us Yellow Star folks maybe I’ll be stopped at the state border and forced into a cattle car.  I hope there will be lots of straw in the cattle car.  That stuff keeps the smell down in cattle cars, I hear.

Seriously, I feel the Left and their allies in the Deep State have crossed the Rubicon.  At this point I don’t think they’ll hesitate to come after all their enemies and punish them with every trick in the book.  I expect really bad stuff to begin happening to just about anyone they can identify as “not their friend.”

You know I expected this type of thing to happen but I didn’t think it would bother me as much as it does.  It really is a complete break with the America that I believed in as a young man.  This is no different from the East Germany that we read about back in the 1970s.  It’s right in line with the things I read in Solzhenitsyn’s Gulag Archipelago.  There’s the bang on the door at night and jack-booted thugs carrying off someone into the dark.  Secret courts and show trials and rat-like characters like Merrick Garland and Joe Biden.

And of course, we will be powerless to hold any of these people responsible.  Just as with the Summer of George rioting and the election fraud in 2020 those responsible won’t suffer any consequences.  Whereas innocent people will have their lives ruined and be imprisoned and robbed of their livelihood by these rats.

Joe Biden and his drug-addled son Hunter shake down China and Ukraine for millions and there are no consequences even when the moron leaves evidence of his crimes out in the open.  The FBI and the media are his fixers and they’ll make sure that nothing interrupts the graft and corruption.  But at this point only the brain dead are unaware of the depths of Biden’s dishonesty and incompetence.

November truly will be the acid test.  If the Democrats aren’t swept out of power in a tidal wave, then there is literally no hope for this once free country.  If the Democrats aren’t banished then either the American people are already brain dead or the election fraud is so thorough that we’ll never see a fair election again.  And even if the Republicans take back the House and Senate, Biden’s re-animated corpse will still be torturing our country for two more years.  With tens of thousands of new IRS employees Biden will use the death by a thousand paper cuts on his enemies’ supporters.

Well, enough whining.  It’s only a few months until November and I’m sure I can keep busy working and playing until then.  And as the Good Book says “The truth shall set you free.”  It’s better to have the bad news than to be confused by the lies.  If the bad guys have won it’s best to know.  Then you can make the decisions you need to in order to figure out Plan B.

FBI Raids Mar A Lago – US Officially a Banana Republic

So they’ve taken the final step.

It’s great to see that the Stasi are doing everything they can to alienate half the country.  If we are able to take back control of the government it should be easy to find the votes to fire and cancel the pensions of most of the rats currently holed up in the Justice Department.  That should be the campaign slogan for 2022 and 2024.

So what we have are two separate standards of justice and selective enforcement based on the political alignment of the individual.  If you are Democrats or their agents you can burn down cities and even kill innocent citizens with complete impunity.  But even if you’re the former republican President of the United States you will be deprived of your constitutional protections using trumped up charges and corrupt Washington DC judges to do the bidding of Democrat political operatives in the Justice Department.

I’d say today marks the official beginning of the United States as a banana republic.  Don’t be surprised by anything.  Should really do wonders for the Democrats chances in November.  I wonder if this might get Brandon’s approval rating into the single digits by tomorrow.

Even Starbucks Throws in the Towel

I just read this article from City Journal that says Starbuck’s is closing a bunch of urban locations because the increases in violence and theft are just too much for them to endure.  Now this is the same company that has championed “defund the police” and every other progressive platitude that came down the pike.  Of course, Starbucks is the icing on the cake.  The real issue is the closing of drug stores in places like Philadelphia, Chicago, Minneapolis and New York.  The Soros district attorneys have decriminalized shop lifting and so these stores have been emptied out so many times they are just clearing out.  And the poorest people who depend on these stores for everything from toilet paper to medicine are out of luck.

But hey, just keep on voting for those Democrats.  That’s working really well for you.  Bring it on, bring it on, bring it on.

Everyone else, stay away from the cities.  They’ll be death traps for a generation.

Could Another Festivus Miracle Be About to Occur?

And the good news just keeps on coming.

“Challenger Joe Kent has nearly overtaken U.S. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler in vote counts released Friday, leaving the six-term incumbent teetering on the brink of defeat amid Republican backlash over her vote to impeach former President Donald Trump.

Kent has gained ground every day, in a trendline that points to him surpassing Herrera Beutler when more votes are counted next week.

Herrera Beutler “needs a miracle,” wrote Dave Wasserman, an editor and election expert with the nonpartisan Cook Political Report, on Twitter, calling Kent the “strong favorite to knock her out of the top two.”

As of Friday evening, Herrera Beutler had 22.6% of the vote to Kent’s 22.5% — a margin of just 257 votes. Kent had trailed by 1,945 on Thursday. An estimated 30,000 ballots remain to be counted in Clark County, the district’s population center, which will continue counting votes again on Monday.”

That’s right.  It just keeps getting worse for the Republican impeachment voters.  Let this be a lesson for all turncoats.  The days of betraying your voters with impunity are over.  Word is getting out.  The people are angry.  Do your job or get out.

05AUG2022 – Another Outbreak of Unbridled Enthusiasm Breaks Out

I know, I know.  We’re not going to vote our way out of this.  Blah, blah, blah.  But, damn, that Lake victory hit the spot.  Maybe all of this is the dead cat bounce after hitting bottom in 2020 but right now I’ll take it.  It’s just plain enjoyable to be on the winning side of these things.  Whether it’s real or not, it feels like progress.

I saw that Dick Cheney put out a video defending his daughter by declaring that, “In our nation’s 246-year history, there has never been an individual who has been a greater threat to our republic than Donald Trump.”  Boy, that’s rich.  The Democrats allow thugs to burn down the cities of America.  They use blatant voter fraud to foist a lying grafter on us as president while locking down the country for two years and destroying the economy.  But Donald Trump is dangerous.

I read that Sinema is going to sign off on the mini-Build Back Better boondoggle.  No surprise there.  The fix was in with Manchin.  I guess he got his cut of the pie.  Figures she’d be in there somewhere too.  That’s alright.  Both of them are up in 2024.  They’ll be remembered by their voters.

I was reading a speech that Hungarian leader Victor Orban gave recently.  It’s remarkable how he openly names the real threats that face western countries.  I guess when your party has a supermajority in the parliament you can speak honestly.  He talks of the dangers of unchecked third world immigration and he also names the LGBTQ agenda of much of the western countries as the biggest external threats.  But he also names the break down of the traditional family and the associated failure of women to bear enough children as the biggest internal threat.

This analysis is spot on.  It’s a long speech and also has long sections on the energy crisis and the Ukrainian war.  These other problems area also very grave, especially the climate hoax.  But I think they might be self-correcting.  After all, there’s nothing like losing your toes to frostbite to reinforce how important fossil fuels really are to our world.

Whoever the leaders of an actual conservative movement turn out to be, they should consult with Orban.  He’s one of the few leaders who understand the challenges facing us.  He gave a speech at CPAC yesterday.  I just started to listen to it.  Very exciting, very upbeat.

So, there’s all kinds of hopeful things happening right now.  And in eleven days Liz Cheney gets the boot from the voters of the great state of Wyoming so the beat goes on.  I’m sure I could dwell on the negatives.  After all, the Chi-Coms didn’t take Nancy Pelosi off our hands and George Soros still walks the earth sowing destruction in all directions.  But good things are happening.  We’re winning elections and guys like Ron DeSantis are using their power to stop the bad guys from running roughshod over us in places like Florida.

You can always be depressed and sometimes I am.  But not today.  Smell the roses, enjoy the day.
