Off With Their Heads!

The day started at 3am to accommodate an airport drop off.  Of course, I didn’t trust the alarm clock so I woke up at 1am and 2 am just to be sure.  Which explains this stream of semi-consciousness writing style you’re reading here.  The various schools are not in session this week so Camera Girl is working triple duty with grandkids all week (and double duty next week just for good measure).  So, we’re both zonked today.  Tomorrow will be better.

The summer must be over because I notice a definite uptick in site traffic.  It’s funny how that works.  I always enjoy seeing folks return.  It’s almost a proprietary interest, as if they’ve been slacking off, like some kind of digital prodigal sons.  I feel like I should go to www.fattedcalf.com and put in an e-order (great googly moogly, it’s a real website!).

Well, it’s still raining today, which is starting to get a bit annoying.  Sure, sure.  Drought bad, water good.  But that’s enough.  No one likes a show off.

I find I’m fed up looking at both sides of the Red Wave / Red Bust articles.  I really don’t care.  Either we trounce these dirtbags or we don’t.  Running around in circles with your hair on fire over it just makes you look stupid.  Especially since the pundits are trying to read the usual tea leaves that are about as authoritative as my late great aunt’s theories on how the Apollo moon missions were ruining her vegetable garden.

All I want to read about is what anyone who claims to be a leader on the right is doing to make our lives better.  That stunt that Governor Abbott is pulling by bussing illegal aliens to NYC and DC; that’s good stuff.  I want to hear more stuff like that.  DeSantis prosecuting election fraud perps; good stuff, keep it coming.  That’s all stuff that encourages the man on the street.  It’s tonic.  It makes us feel better.

And I loved the final broadcast of Brian Stelter.  His heroic stand against objective journalism was as pathetic, myopic and disingenuous as anything that has ever shown up on that Clown Car of a network CNN.  And now I’m hungry for more.  Don Lemon, Jim Acosta.  Hey how about Anderson Cooper?  It’s such a target rich environment.  Come on, Warner Bros. Discovery, give your audience what they want, blood.  Blue-green bug blood.  Bring out the guillotine and lop off a network anchor’s head every night.  Fish it out of the basket, show it to the crowd and then toss it to the soccer hooligans to kick around the street for the rest of the night.  I guarantee ratings will go through the roof.

And the same goes for MSNBC and even Fox.  They’ve all got plenty of phonies and sycophants.  Blithering idiots like Joe Scarborough, Juan Williams and Joy Reid are ripe for the razor.  And even if they are just metaphorical beheadings and all we get to see is these bozos making the walk of shame out of the corporate headquarters with the cardboard box full of coffee mugs and cheap Lucite awards it will still bring joy and plenty of clicks and streaming dollars to these former news networks.  No one is more hated than these pampered, brainless and thoroughly useless haircuts.

You know I feel better already.  There’s nothing like a good dose of schadenfreude to revive a sleep deprived conservative.  So, thank you CNN and thank you Brian Stelter for brightening up my day.  Keep up the good work.

The Final Summer Spree

Yesterday we had the end of summer family party.  The weather has been remarkably nice with temperatures in the eighties, beautiful blue skies and kids, grandkids, nieces and nephews filling the swimming pool and old folks smiling at memories of summers long past.

There was some politics thrown in here and there.  After all, it’s in our blood.  I joked about my impending campaign and how I’ll need at least ten million dollars to assure my victory.  But no checks were forthcoming.  But most of the day and evening was taken up with grilling meat, containing grease fires, eating fattening foods and sitting around talking about the best parts of the recent vacations, kids going off to college and whose arthritic joints hurt worse.

One of my sisters-in-law was marveling at all the various butterflies that were flitting around the aptly named butterfly bush that Camera Girl employs me to keep well-watered.  And it was interesting that they had selected the party day to come out in full force to get the last nectar from this plant resource.  It was one last reminder that nature rejoices in the summer almost as much as I do.

By the time the last guest had left and I had assisted Camera Girl in wrapping up the leftovers it was 11pm and it was time to walk the dogs and lock the doors.

Today we had the kids and grandkids back over to finish up the food and go swimming again in the pool.  I grilled up the last of the burgers and we stuffed the kids with pie, lemonade, ice cream and cake.  Remarkably, they never seem to get too full or groggy from all that sugar.  They just head back to the pool or play some badminton or soccer.

I was talking to their parents about school.  They start school a week from tomorrow and the grandkids were not happy at all by this talk about it.  I could see their faces fall at the mention.  So, I quickly added that the pool won’t be closing up until the day after they go back to school and they could come over every day they were allowed to if they liked.

But it struck me that I remember feeling exactly the same way when school was looming over us like that.  It was an awful feeling and at that moment I remembered what nine-year-old me felt like.  Ah, the persistence of memory.

We haven’t had any real rain in over a month and the state is declaring a drought.  My water comes from a well and since I live next to a swamp, I figure there’s probably a trillion gallons of water still in there.  Maybe a trillion and a half.  That’s what we call an engineering estimate.

But the fields are as dry as a bone.  I’ve been watering the vegetable garden and the flower gardens pretty religiously but a lot of the flowers have given up the ghost.  But that’s what late August is; the beginning of the dying time.  I guess I should be unhappy about the drought and the straw-like grass.  But I’m not.  I always hope that summer will stretch into September.  Sure, an inch or two of rain would be fine.  But eighty-degree days and blue skies are as close to heaven as I can imagine.  And soon enough the days will shorten and cool.  It’s inevitable.  So, another week or two of summer looks good to me.

I notice the Democrats are laying it on pretty thick about how the arc of history is bending toward their mid-term success.  Blah, blah, blah.  And the predictable Republicans are panicking about all this.  “Oh no!  The Trump selected candidates will go down in flames.  Quick, make friends with the progressives!”  Feckless losers.  People are telling me we must move to the middle.  And I tell them there is no middle.  There’s getting what you want and there’s folding like a cheap suit.  Pick one.

But the result will be upon us soon and I can deal with either eventuality.  A true binary is upon us.  We either win or lose.  And I can deal with either result.  But no more uncertainty.  Either the American people throw off the Democrats or they don’t.

What a beautiful sunset tonight.  It’s a joy to see a day this beautiful.

The World is Changing

The world is changing.  Of that there is no doubt.  Look at the realignment that is going on in this country and around the world.  The Democrats have abandoned their former allies in the working class and embraced the plutocrats that run corporate America.  The Republican voters have abandoned establishment Republicans and are embracing populism and nationalism wherever they can.  And around the world the post-WWII military, financial and cultural hierarchy is in a shambles and is desperately trying to resist the forces of change that are breaking out in places like Poland, Hungary, Russia, China, India, Brazil and elsewhere.

What remains to be seen is whether this crisis is part of a well thought out plan by those in charge of the globalist order or just something they’ve cobbled together to control the reaction by the victims of the excesses that have ravaged post-industrial America and Europe.  Right now, they’re working to eliminate the descendants of the people they think they no longer need.  Part of that program is to eliminate the parts of the economy that used to support these people.  So, manufacturing jobs have been off-shored to China and now we have the attempt to eliminate fossil fuels and make energy much more expensive.  Also, the personal ownership of farmland and other valuable commodities is being made unattainable for all but the truly wealthy.

So far, the program is moving along at a rapid clip.  The oligarchs have managed to collapse the economic basis of the working class using the COVID “crisis” as an excuse.  The election fraud in 2020 was unchallenged except for the January 6th protest and that has been stifled using gestapo tactics to intimidate and silence all resistance.  Basically, all the levers of power have been captured and even the military has been captured by the Democrat regime.

But what hasn’t been taken into account is that the basis of America’s strength as the global hegemon was its strength, both militarily and economically.  And both those strengths have been degraded as part of the global program.  During Obama’s fundamental transformation of the military, he was instrumental in replacing white men who were the backbone of the officer corps with women and minorities who weren’t selected based on merit but rather for their race or sex.  This has had a corrosive effect on the whole military structure.  Currently there are indications that military preparedness in each of the branches of the military is below the level needed to be able to win a war against a modern army.  This means that the deterrence that formerly prevented second tier militaries like Iran and North Korea from getting involved in military adventurism against their neighbors may no longer hold.

And having transferred our industrial base to China our status as an economic superpower is also unjustified.  Look how the sanctions we levied against Russia over the Ukraine war have boomeranged back against us.  With the US once again dependent on foreign oil and gas we are the ones suffering from the consequences of trying to embargo Russia’s energy products.  The skyrocketing cost of fossil fuels is crippling American and European economies and impoverishing their citizens.

So, it may turn out that the New World Order has become a house of cards that will fall without the people it thought it could dispense with.  If our economy and military have been hollowed out by the elimination of the deplorables then maybe it’s not too late to head off the whole rotten project.

Of course, that’s a pretty big maybe.  And even if it happens there is going to be hell to pay when the American Empire falls off its perch.  So, we’re going to see very interesting things in the next few years.  The regime has lost the support of about half its citizens.  And that will alter this country in a profound way.  You’ll notice it and it will alter the way you feel about America and how you live your life.

The times they are a changing.

Walking the Walk

So, my ridiculous Dunwich post was an outgrowth of a political meeting I went to last night.  I’m getting involved in town government for the first time in my life and it already looks to be a nightmare of cosmic proportions.  Although I’m happy to say it probably does not include the risk of being eaten alive by a squid-headed dragon from deep space.

But it will involve getting involved with some fairly offensive progressives on a one-on-one basis.  Yeah me!

But I guess if we’re ever going to make progress on fixing things, somebody is going to have to get his hands dirty and why shouldn’t that somebody be me?  I won’t bore you with the details but it will be directly involved in elections so you might say I’m getting right down to brass tacks.

In contrast to my contempt for the Stupid Party in Dunwich, the actual Republicans in my town are good people.  Being in New England means we’re always swimming against the current of blue state government and its toxic agenda.  But we have managed to stave off the worst of their programs and influence.  This off year election will probably not be a good one for Republicans at the state level.  The state employees own the state and runaway tax increases seem to be the default position used to keep the pension bubble pumped up.  When that dam finally breaks it’s going to be a flood of red ink that won’t be fixable.  But until then let the good times roll, I guess.

You know, today I was reading some of the Democrat happy talk about how the “inflation reduction” act would win them the mid-terms.  Is it possible they believe that?  The only two choices I could come up with is:

  • It’s just whistling past the graveyard and there’s no substance to the conclusion.
  • They know that they’ve got the voter fraud thing completely worked out and they don’t have to worry about elections anymore.

I’ll leave it up to the readers to pick which one of these two choices it is.  Or add a third choice of your devising.

I’ve been ploughing through the Yellowstone photos.  I’ve got about three thousand files.  They’re mostly landscape and some wildlife but I was happy to see that a lot of the plant and flower shots look good.  There are some very interesting flowers in that locale and they make good macrophotography and close-up photography shots.  But it’s still going to take me a while to make much progress.  With end of summer activities and all my other responsibilities breathing down my neck it’s slow going.

So, we’re about eighty days before election day.  Joe Biden’s approval rating has soared up to 40%.  And the Democrats are flogging the inflation reduction meme as hard as they can.  I guess they have to do something.  Maybe they plan the October surprise to be an indictment of Trump right before the election.  I’m of two minds whether that would make things better or worse.  Maybe that goes under the same idea that doing something is better than doing nothing.

And finally, I was thinking about how nice it must be to live in a state like Florida or Wyoming where the majority of people are like me and get to have the state government that I would want.  I’d just like to say for the record how much I envy all of you in the solidly red states.  I feel like it would make my life feel twice as happy to not hate my state government and not have to endure the constant bombardment of harmful and maddening government actions.

Well, I better get back to writing my campaign victory speech, “Fourscore and seven days ago …”

CNN Fires Brian Stelter and Jeffrey Toobin

Huh.  Maybe CNN really does want to be considered an actual news network.  Well anyway, whatever else CNN does they’ve just made tv less stupid and less creepy by a wide margin.  Brian Stelter wasn’t the stupidest person at CNN because Don Lemon is still there.  And Toobin was the infamous zoom masturbator.  How could anyone top that for skin crawling repulsiveness.

So is it possible that the new owners of CNN have thought about what an actual news organization would consist of and are now trying to put one together?  It’s a tantalizing idea.  It’s been so long since a network even pretended to play it right down the middle that it would feel almost unnatural.  But it’s a hell of an idea.

Of course, I’ll wait to see if they get rid of the rest of the woke crew there.  But maybe it’s true.  Meanwhile the thought of Stelter and Toobin on the unemployment line is a rare pleasure.  And it remains to be seen if anyone would actually employ either one of them again in any capacity.  Each one is loathsome in several ways.  Possibly we’re at the beginning of a cycle where no one needs people like them for anything.  It’s a pleasant thought.

Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory

Four score and seven months ago my forefather Dick Cheney shot some old guy in the face.  Well actually it was nine score and nine months ago but you see what I’m doing here.  So anyway, he shot that old guy in the face with a shot gun because he got in the way of his quail hunt.  Can you imagine what he would have done if that old man had been Donald Trump?

Now that I have established the Gettysburg Address connection let me spin out why I’m a lot like Abraham Lincoln.  First of all, both of us look better in a beard than without.  So that’s big.  Next, both of us lost a Congressional race.  How crazy is that?  If you think about it, you might call the resemblance miraculous, right?  And both of us successfully put down an insurrection against the United States government.  Well, I don’t know about you but that cinches the whole thing for me.

I plan on buying a stove pipe hat and running in 2024 for president under the slogan, “Government of the Cheneys, by the Cheneys and for the Cheneys shall not perish from the earth.”

Look, let’s face facts.  The Democrats will steal every election from now on.  You know it, I know it and the American people know it too.  If anyone objects, they’ll just toss him in prison and throw away the key.  So, if at least you have a few honest patriots like me in government we can retard ever so slightly the speed at which our way of life toboggans off the cliffs of insanity and thereby make the terror imaginable rather than unimaginable.  Now that sounds like a deal to me.

So today I highly resolve to dedicate a good chunk of my spare time to running for president.  Of course, I won’t win but I fully expect to pull something like fifty million USD into my campaign war chest and that should tide me over until I can figure out who I should shoot in the face.

So, in conclusion thanks to Nancy Pelosi, Adam Schiff and Merrick Garland for all the hard work setting up the January Sixth Committee.  Barking out lies and gross exaggerations has been the most fun I’ve had in Washington since I got here.  I finally understand why the Spanish Inquisition was such a big deal.  It’s because it was just so much darn fun.  Until you’ve seen the terror in the face of some poor schlub who really believed that he had freedom of speech and equal protection under the law, when we rip his life to shreds you haven’t lived.

Thanks to the over three dozen Wyomingites that voted for me.  And as for the rest of you that voted for my opponent, I know that Dick Cheney is loading up his shot gun and will personally shoot each and every one of you in the face, even if it takes him the rest of his unnatural life.

Good night, America!

As a special tribute to Liz Cheney Night here at the Compound Camera Girl baked me a Huckleberry Pie tonight.  It’s cooling in the fridge and I’ll be celebrating the event tomorrow with a big cup of good coffee and maybe some vanilla ice cream on the side.  Well really she made it because I ordered the huckleberry filling a couple of weeks ago after my trip to Yellowstone.  It’s just a coincidence that it arrived today.  But you know the saying, “When The Legend Becomes Fact, Print The Legend:.”

I was listening to Cheney’s concession speech.  She compares herself to Lincoln losing his House and Senate runs before becoming president.  Then she doubles down on her January 6th hysteria.  She is delusional if she thinks she’ll ever be president of the United States.  I got tired of listening to her blah blah blah.  Maybe I’ll listen to her nonsense later if I’m bored.

Well, the people of Wyoming have spoken  and what they said was, “Liz, you’re fired.”  She didn’t hear them so she’s going to try to run for president.  But really she just wants to get a bunch of money from donors and then live happily ever after.  Now that thought is pathetic but at least we don’t have to worry about “President Cheney” running amok with our military budget.

With all the depressing current events I’m glad that Liz Cheney Day went so well.  This sets me up for the party on Saturday in the right mood.  Well I hope everyone out there enjoyed Liz’s rejection by Wyoming.  Hopefully now she’ll move permanently to Washington DC.

Alaska results don’t start reporting until midnight Eastern time so I’ll catch up with the Murkowski results tomorrow.

Pleasant Fiction and Painful Reality

Today was a fiction writing day.  I made some good progress on the plot.  But I was stymied on an aspect of the story that only recently occurred to me.  What I realized is that one of my main characters doesn’t have enough back story.  He has a reasonably well-defined personality but he’s floating alone in his little bubble of the story.  I need to tell the readers why he is the way he is.  So, I started making up this past in my head but then I realized I need a way to have him tell this info to the readers.  That’s an awful lot of exposition.  So, what I’ll do is come up with a situation where the protagonist and this character are involved in some scene where they’re trapped together and forced to wait for some crisis to pass and that’s when I’ll have them swap histories.  To make it more natural I’ll have them both talking about their pasts.  In the context of both of them not knowing if they’re about to be killed it makes it a little more likely, emotionally, for them to be talking about their lives.

And one other problem remains.  Where does the story end?  This will be a series of books and I want to end the first book with a bang but I have to make sure that the empire will be able to strike back.  So, I have to leave enough villains to allow them to regroup.  Maybe there’s more to this writing thing than I thought.

I saw a news article that said that the FBI took Trump’s passports.  Isn’t that just too cute of them?  Apparently, they’re pulling out all the stops.  I think that’s good.  November should be the perfect storm.  We should know for sure whether there’s any hope of fixing the system.  And if the Deep State commits themselves to every banana republic tactic and holds nothing back then we’ll have no doubt about whether this is our best-case scenario.  If the mid-terms aren’t a referendum on Biden’s incompetence and the Deep State’s unconstitutional behavior then there is no conceivable way, we’ll ever push them out of power.  And it doesn’t matter whether it’s an honest election or not.  A loss for us either way says to me that it’s all over.

And I don’t say that in a melodramatic way.  On Wednesday November 9th if the Democrats still hold the House and Senate, I won’t be donning sackcloth and sifting ashes into my hair.  I won’t even put a for sale sign up in front of the Compound.  But I will be weighing my options and making some changes.  After all, living in a country that is run by an oligarchy that is proven to have an unshakeable lock on the levers of power and is also clearly working to disenfranchise your family isn’t necessarily the best option, even if it is the richest and most powerful country on the planet and has always been your home.

So, I’ll think long and hard about what’s best for me and mine.  I’m sure I’ll have plenty of company in that contemplation.  The 2020 election fraud was a shock.  But with the COVID lockdown being used to allow all kinds of irregularities it left a question as to whether the fraud could be reined in afterward.  If it’s repeated this year then it can be repeated indefinitely.  If the Justice Department can run two kinds of “justice” then we’ve already ceased to be a legitimate state.  So, many people will be reflecting on these facts.

But, enough of that gloomy talk.  Tomorrow is Liz Cheney’s Primary Day.  I intend to enjoy that event to its fullest.  Maybe she’ll give a tearful concession speech or a defiant vow to be back on top someday soon.  But either way I will savor the moment.  Quoting Khan Noonien Singh (or actually Herman Melville) “to the last I grapple with thee; from hell’s heart I stab at thee; for hate’s sake I spit my last breath at thee,” I revel in the spite inherent in punishing the RINOs.  It’s the only thing that we can do to redress the injuries these people inflict on us every day.  The least we can do is celebrate their defeat.

Summertime and the Living is Easy

Day after day of bright sunny weather has spoiled me.  I’m now hopelessly cheerful which is disastrous for a conservative blogger in Creepy Uncle Joe’s America.  Whereas I should be railing against runaway inflation and fascistic FBI activities, I’m too happy.  Whenever I get bored in the house I go outside into the blinding light and I feel my batteries recharging.  This Saturday is the last big summer party of the season and I’m anticipating the fun of seeing all the kids one more time before they have to start school again.  Burgers and dogs, sausage and peppers, potato salad and watermelon, lemonade and ice cream, and ricotta cheese cake.  Just a great way to end a nice hot summer.

I’ve been watching good movies and eating good food for the last couple of days.  Brando in Julius Caesar, Mutiny on the Bounty, A Streetcar Named Desire.  Chicken chop suey and homemade chicken pot pie.  Even watching that goofy Wolf Man movie the other day was a summer indulgence.  The end of summer edges us closer to the next milestone of the calendar, Halloween.  And that means classic monster movies and not so classic horror movies.  And that spells shorter days and the first nip of frost in the air.

Last night it was fifty degrees.  The cooling trend is there.  Backsliding into the mid-eighties is predicted for next Thursday and onward but the writing is on the wall.  Soon the air conditioners will be put away for another year.  Lemonade will be off the menu and hot coffee back on.  Watermelon will give way to apples and hot soup will reassert itself in the weekly menus that Camera Girl will present me with.  And all of this should make me SAD (seasonal affective disorder) but somehow, it’s just too bright and sunny to work the trick.  Maybe September will work its melancholy magic on me.  But until Labor Day rings the bell on summer I can’t seem to believe in winter just yet.

Looking a little ahead we have “Liz Cheney Appreciation Day” coming up on Tuesday.  That’s gonna be a humdinger.  I have to see what special celebration I’ll select for that.  I’ll try to capture my joy in a special schadenfreudian post that sings the praises of representative democracy when it actually works.  Also, Camera Girl has promised to bake me a huckleberry pie from real Montana huckleberries.  Wednesday, I meet with the Dunwich Committee to Re-elect Cthulhu.  Thursday and Friday I’ll have my chores in support of Saturday’s party and Sunday will be the cleanup.  By next Monday I’ll try to develop some post-summer let-down.  That will stand me in good stead when trying to summon the gloom and doom needed to opine about the current state of this fallen republic.  I’m sure by then Biden or one of the other odious carbuncles that supposedly run this country will have offended the public decency with various high crimes and misdemeanors.  By then I’ll have built up a level of bile sufficient to vent my spleen at these toads.

But until then I’m just too darn merry to groan.  I’ve got thousands of Yellowstone photos to review and process.  I’ve got a load of bug photos from around the grounds and I’ve got repair projects to address.  So, pardon me if I whistle a happy tune and luxuriate in the season.  Misery is sure to have its day soon.  La dolce vita.

If the Republicans prevail in the house and senate in the midterms but McCarthy and McConnell remain as the leaders, just look for more of the same. But if we could somehow get Rand Paul and Jim Jordan, it would be happy dance in the streets time.

Both these guys are fighters, the opposite of the current “leadership”. Have you ever seen more inept “leadership” than offered to us by Paul Ryan and McConnell in 2016-2018? They did nothing at all despite having the House, Senate and Presidency by substantial margins.

The current Dims hold all three branches but the two legislative branches by razor thin margins. Despite which, they are ramming incredibly destructive legislation down our collective throats. And all we have to counter them is the ineffective duo of McCarthy and McConnell?
