The Maddening Stupidity and Weakness of This Generation Throwing Away the Legacy of America

To anyone born before about 1965 it must seem like an evil miracle that everyone born after that time was brought up thinking that America was not the greatest place to live in the present world and at anytime in history.  It just seemed self-evident that compared to all other places and times, here was almost a heaven on earth.  And not just for the rich and talented.  A ditch digger in the United States of the second half of the 20th century lived better than any Emperor of Rome or even the Emperor of the British Empire right up till when that term stopped having meaning.

We enjoyed unlimited freedom and practically unlimited opportunity to enrich ourselves and our children and to enjoy health and leisure and command inventions like an automobile and telephony that simply didn’t exist even fifty years earlier.  Even the so-called downtrodden black minority enjoyed health and wealth that their ancestors in Africa and even their cousins in present Africa would trade their right arm and leg to possess.  Whatever social injustices and legal injuries some of them suffered, these paled in comparison to the horrors of places like Zimbabwe or Rwanda even today.  By and large anyone who said he would trade living in this country for any other place on Earth that would take him was lying either to himself or to the world at large or to both.

So, can you imagine the irony of someone like me contemplating leaving that place?  Think of what a diminution of those former freedoms we must have suffered for places like Hungary and Poland and even Chile to look like attractive alternatives.  These are places which in their past have been enormously repressive and lacked fundamental rights like freedom of speech and freedom of religion.  But now they seem almost like bastions of freedom and islands of sanity in a sea of madness.

And the worst part of it is knowing this generation succumbed to the poison that their teachers and professors indoctrinated them with while my generation had to pay them to do this damage.  My property taxes and my college tuition payments subsidized this poisoning of the following generation of American youth.  As parents we would have been better off burning Harvard and Yale and every other college in this country to the ground and thereby unemployed those sociopaths that indoctrinated the present generation of helpless fools.

Well, if this was the inevitable outcome of American democracy then it was a fool’s paradise.  Maybe there can’t be a Heaven on Earth.  Maybe it’s impossible to raise people up.  Stupidity seems to be the endemic condition of most people and the only way they learn anything is for reality to slap them in the face, minute by minute.  So be it.

It will be interesting to see if some remnant of realistic people in this country push back against the pathetic losers that accept all this nonsense that is being perpetrated by the Left against us.  There are some small beginnings.  DeSantis in Florida.  Some other places down south.  If they decide to make a stand maybe something will be done.  But it is surely discouraging to hear what passes for the official history of the United States.  The lies and stupidity and irrationality of their version of American history is so false and one-sided that it staggers the imagination to know how feeble are the minds of those believing it.

Well, this is just a rant for a Sunday afternoon.  I’d better get back to doing something useful like cutting the grass and putting away the summer gardening equipment.  It does give me some ideas for stories though.  I’ll invent some characters who are brave enough to fight back.  That will be fun.

DeSantis Begins His Re-Election Bid

DeSantis is the one bright light in the current debacle that is American politics.  He’s smart and articulate.  He isn’t mealy-mouthed and he has shown initiative and the willingness to act proactively instead waiting for his opponents to attack him unchallenged.

His court challenges to the Biden crime family’s unconstitutional executive actions have been by and large successful and the legislation that he has spear-headed in the Florida legislature have been bold and practical.  Granted not all of it will work and the feds have enormous power to make trouble for him but he’s shown that acting on a positive agenda can be the best way to combat the attacks of the Left.

In three years I wouldn’t be surprised if Trump anoints him his successor for the 2024 election.  His youth and energy make him a natural to attract support from all corners of the non-insane portion of the citizenry.  After four years of the Biden mess even some of the insane may see him as the more attractive path.  After all even the insane have to eat.

I wish Ron DeSantis all the good fortune he can get.  And I hope in a few years he’ll be running all fifty states and not just Florida.

Tamping Down Optimism on a Friday Afternoon

Why am I feeling so optimistic?  It’s hard to say.  Dementia Joe is still in charge of the US military.  The southern border is still admitting millions of illegal aliens a year.  The Democrats are writing laws to remove the rest of our freedoms.  The cities are now awash with gangsters and sociopaths that rob, assault and kill people at will.  What the hell is there to be optimistic about?

I don’t know.  But I am.  Maybe it’s Ron DeSantis actually taking steps to resist the criminal actions of the Biden administration.  His resistance to the tyrannical COVID mandates and his efforts to prevent the dumping of illegal aliens in Florida are definitely enheartening.  Maybe it’s the acknowledgement by the Left that America is unhappy with the results of the Biden administration; the Afghan debacle, the border mess, the COVID nightmare and the stagflation that it has sparked.  Maybe it’s that Joe Biden is perceived by honest observers as at best, a man in the middle stages of dementia and very likely a puppet for others who are pulling the strings.  Maybe because the world looks beautiful to me today and I am surrounded by people I love and they are all well and relatively happy.  Maybe it’s just my natural ebullience.  But I am.  I’m optimistic.  So, what’s a professional gloom and doomer to do?

I guess I could just fake it and talk about the 2020 election catastrophe and how all hope is lost and “1984” and “A Brave New World” are already here and we should all jump off a cliff and blah, blah, blah.  But that bores me.  I think I am optimistic because our enemies have shown themselves to be vulnerable and despite their structural advantages in almost every institution, they are not convincing the bulk of the non-stupid that they know what they are doing.  And this seems to be giving me hope that if a stout resistance is raised against them actual results, winning results are entirely possible.  And since I see some signs of resistance this has fanned my hope into actual enthusiasm about the future.  I’m anxious to see if we can build on their losses and panic them into something really stupid.  Look at what’s going on in New York City.  The BLM psychos are fighting the COVID nazis over forcing people to have vaccine passports in order to go in restaurants.  So, if black patrons don’t have to show their papers how soon before white people start claiming they are black?  What are the waitresses going to do, demand birth certificates with race listed?  And how about school teachers balking at being vaccinated?  What happens if this triggers equal treatment under the law demonstrations by nurses and bus drivers and well, everybody else?  Just think of the wonderful consequences of the Democrat coalition at each other’s throats.  And how about the fact that illegal aliens are being allowed in with COVID.  Isn’t that a direct violation of the HHS guidelines?  There’s no quarantine, there’s no testing, just people with new variants being unleashed on the unsuspecting public.  Very important information for the public to consider.

So, yeah, disappointing to say, I’m feeling kind of upbeat.  But I promise to do my best to get depressed.  I’ll look at the headlines and realize how screwed up the world is and maybe watch a video with Chuck Todd or Rachel Maddow telling me that I’m on losing side of history.  Maybe I’ll contemplate how degraded my actual constitutional rights currently are.  But for now, life’s good and the Left appears to be back on their heels.  So, bring it!

The ZMan Discusses Supply Chain Disruption

Back when the COVID nonsense first started happening the ZMan warned that shutting down a tremendously complex system like the US economy was unbelievably dangerous.  Now he’s been born out by the shortages, price increases and general instability in the American economy.  His discussion is very worthwhile reading in my opinion.  On a personal note, Camera Girl returned today from the supermarket visibly upset by the empty shelves and runaway price increases.  For that alone I could see Dementia Joe tried for treason.

Greetings to September Thirtieth, Anno Domini MMXXI

Another beautiful, if chilly morning here in the land of Wokish Puritans.  I have done my due diligence and looked over the headlines.  What I see is that both the Left and the Right see Joe Biden as a disaster, but for different reasons.  The Left sees him as a doddering idiot who keeps tripping over his own feet and fouling up the beautiful set-up he was handed by the Deep State and friends.  The Right sees him as a doddering idiot who keeps tripping over his own feet as he presides over the dismantling of what is left of the “land of the free and the home of the brave.”

Joe’s approval rating is under water but so what?  Will that change anything?  I guess the hope is that if Biden is construed as a failed president, then maybe Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema will refuse to sign onto the 3.5 trillion Dollar reconciliation bill and we might be spared the illegal alien amnesty bill and whatever other atrocities Pelosi and Schumer have teed up for us.  I guess we’re about to find out.  I seriously doubt we’re going to get lucky.  The Dems sense they have a short window before the 2022 primary season and will be going for broke this fall.  But who knows?  Miracles have happened.

But I guess it’s at least amusing to watch the consensus grow across Left and Right that Dementia Joe is a creepy loser who’s in way over his head.  I suspect history will be particularly cruel to Biden and Harris.  But I need to remind myself that history is written by the winners and even without an effective White House the Left has an overwhelmingly strong hand to play.

In other news there were a bunch of in-depth reports discovering again that if you remove the police from a city like Minneapolis then the black neighborhoods will descend into crime, drug addiction and murder.  Children will be killed during gun play between the gang bangers, white people will flee the city in droves and the loss of revenues will cause the problem to spiral out of control.  The only differences in these reports depend on the ideological stripe of the writer.  The lefties decry the violence but claim that the police cannot use the tactics previously available to them.  In other words, they want magical police.  The writers on the right notice that nobody is lining up to take the vacant police jobs currently available and conclude that runaway crime in Minneapolis will be an ongoing phenomenon for the foreseeable future.

Well, my answer to all this is, don’t complain when you get what you say you wanted.  The progressives and their followers in Minneapolis put the city in the hands of ideologues that allowed and even encouraged a mob of antifa and BLM rioters to burn down a police precinct while looting and burning their neighbors’ businesses and assaulting and even killing some of these same people.  I take no pleasure in seeing poor people living in a hellscape where law and order have been eliminated.  But there is no other way for these imbeciles to learn just how delusional their viewpoint on urban policing really is.  Once all the affluent white progressives move away from their dangerous Minneapolis homes the people who are left can begin to figure out how to deal with reality.  The only shame is that these progressives won’t have a chance to see their own homes and businesses looted and burned.  That would be too much to ask.

I saw a couple of reports about the upcoming Supreme Court docket.  There are a bunch of important cases that have impact on our sorely mistreated constitutional rights.  And for once I’m slightly optimistic that some good things may happen in this session.  And if the decisions occur late enough in the year it may be too late for the Democrats to pack the Court.  It’s assumed they will lose the House in 2022 and that would curtail at least temporarily their ability to change the Court’s size.  If the new justices continue to buck John Robert’s liberal agenda, we could see some honest judicial decisions that would have a positive effect on our lives.  It’s at least worth watching and I’ll be interested to see which way they go.  I don’t want to be too much of a pessimist.  Even I get bored of that.

So that’s what’s in the news.  In my own world I’ve been busy with writing and repairing all the stuff that breaks down around here.  Carpentry, plumbing, auto repairs and landscaping are high on the list of stuff that needs doing.  Luckily the auto repair is covered by an insurance policy so I’ll leave that to the professionals.  I guess I’ll take a first stab at the others but something tells me the plumber will be getting a call soon.  Ah, who am I kidding?  I better get a carpenter too.

But it’s a good day and I feel cheerful.  Camera Girl is making delicious soups and I’m dedicated to watching the world collapse into a heap of stress fractured fragments.  There is an ancient legacy in my family around bartering in rubble and scraps.  I think my ancestors in the Fifth Century probably sold off the marble that originally covered the Colosseum to Visigoth chieftains to adorn their medieval castles.  It’s a cinch I’ll flourish amid the ruins of Biden’s America.  There will be plenty of rubble to barter.

Hat Tip to the Conservative Treehouse – DeSantis Fighting Back Against Biden Immigrant Dumping

This guy DeSantis is really stepping up his game.  He’s going after the feds who are transporting illegals from the Mexican border and dumping them in Florida.  He’s going to criminalize what they are doing and confiscate the vehicles they are using.  And he’s suing the Feds over the dumping which is being called illegal human trafficking.  Here’s the Conservative Treehouse link.  I think DeSantis is serious about fighting back against the Feds.  In my estimation this is huge.  I wonder if he has found some allies even in the Courts to help him make this stick.

I hate to have too much hope but I have to say I’m starting to feel optimistic.  If he wins this fight he is starting to look a very important national figure.  If this works hopefully the other red states will copy this and use it to stem the tide of illegals.

Howard Beale Was Right.  But We Still Don’t Know What to Do.

In the 1976 movie Network, Peter Finch plays network news anchor Howard Beale.  And after a late-night voice in his head orders him to preach a revelation to his tv audience he makes the following speech on air.

I don’t have to tell you things are bad. Everybody knows things are bad. It’s a depression. Everybody’s out of work or scared of losing their job. The dollar buys a nickel’s worth, banks are going bust, shopkeepers keep a gun under the counter. Punks are running wild in the street and there’s nobody anywhere who seems to know what to do, and there’s no end to it. We know the air is unfit to breathe and our food is unfit to eat, and we sit watching our TVs while some local newscaster tells us that today we had fifteen homicides and sixty-three violent crimes, as if that’s the way it’s supposed to be. We know things are bad – worse than bad. They’re crazy. It’s like everything everywhere is going crazy, so we don’t go out anymore. We sit in the house, and slowly the world we are living in is getting smaller, and all we say is, ‘Please, at least leave us alone in our living rooms. Let me have my toaster and my TV and my steel-belted radials and I won’t say anything. Just leave us alone.’ Well, I’m not gonna leave you alone. I want you to get mad! I don’t want you to protest. I don’t want you to riot – I don’t want you to write to your congressman because I wouldn’t know what to tell you to write. I don’t know what to do about the depression and the inflation and the Russians and the crime in the street. All I know is that first you’ve got to get mad. You’ve got to say, ‘I’m a HUMAN BEING, God damn it! My life has VALUE!’ So I want you to get up now. I want all of you to get up out of your chairs. I want you to get up right now and go to the window. Open it, and stick your head out, and yell, ‘I’M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I’M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!’

The audience responds in untold myriads by doing exactly what he says.  They stick their heads out the window and start screaming ‘I’M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I’M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!’

This scene in the movie is viscerally inspiring.  It struck a nerve in 1976 and it strikes maybe a more painful nerve today.  Everything that Howard Beale said in 1976 is even worse today.  Things are not just bad or crazy.  They’re demonic.  The government and the media and industry are actively conspiring, not just to ruin us but to exterminate us.

But in the next line Beale says, ’Then we’ll figure out what to do about the depression and the inflation and the oil crisis.’

But guess what?  They never figured out what to do.  In the real world it had to wait until 1980 when America kicked Jimmy Carter out of the White House and Ronald Reagan began to address some of those things.  And we tried to do something similar in 2016 when we elected Donald Trump.

But guess what?  The Left got mad as hell and burned down America in the George Floyd riots and locked us in our shrinking homes during the COVID scamdemic.  Then they rigged the 2020 elections and we’re worse off than we were in 2016.

Maybe the only value in doing what Beale said to do is finding out we’re not alone.  Maybe that’s what the internet is, a giant street where everybody can stick their heads out the window and shout into the air.  But it doesn’t solve the real problem.  And that problem is that we’ve been dispossessed.  In the last forty-five years they took the country away from us.  All the levers of power are in their hands.  Fake news, fake elections, fake presidents, fake laws, fake government, fake religion, fake law, fake justice.

What it will take is someone, somewhere calling together a convention of whatever’s left of the Americans who don’t want to be harvested and deciding once and for all if we have what it takes to make a stand.  They will have to figure out what they can do that can’t be undone.  Then they’ll have to stick by their guns when the Left in all its manifestations comes for them.  If they’ve figured it correctly, they’ll have come up with a winning strategy that won’t be rolled back and use that as a foundation on which to increase their scope of control.  Suppose all the red states from South Carolina to Texas and north to Montana put together a platform of laws that will solve illegal immigration in all their states.  Think of the impact of that alone.  And what if they enact real welfare reform.  And how about ending urban gang violence?  With a united effort they could build their own law enforcement network like the FBI was supposed to be and make us free and put the bad guys away.

But before any of that happens someone with more guts and more power than anyone we’ve seen so far is going to have to say, ‘I’M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I’M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!

And it’s beginning to look like that someone is going to have to be a Caesar.  Or it will be no one.

28SEP2021 – OCF Update

Well, the visit was a wonderful time and the guest is winging his way back west.  Pardon my lack of output for the last week.  Family comes first.  That’s the law.

But now I’ll start doing my work again.  I intend to do a reasonable job looking at the former Eastern bloc countries for signs of a reasonable fall back if the Right fails us altogether here in America.  It seems insane to even think of that former prison camp as a haven of freedom but there are some indications that it’s true.  Here’s another interview Tucker Carlson did with Poland’s president.  Eastern Europe apparently hasn’t been overwhelmed by woke idiots yet.  Gives me hope.

It’s nice to see that the media is admitting that Biden’s job approval rating is tanking.  Confidentially I’m shocked they allowed the truth to peak through even a little.  But the thing I’m waiting for is when Sinema and Manchin see the light and discover that the shenanigans in the Reconciliation Bill, the illegal alien amnesty and the other atrocities, are just good old American horse sense after all.  And after that I expect to see Demntia Joe’s job approval numbers to sky rocket like a winter COVID spike.

And speaking of COVID it looks like Florida’s Delta spike has returned to baseline.  Congratulations to Gov. DeSantis for hanging tough while the press and the Biden administration slandered him.  Hopefully it will be an example for the rest of the red state governors going forward.

One thing I realized this week is that just because we live in a tyranny doesn’t mean we should just stop enjoying life.  At the very least we need to be coming up with work arounds to enjoy our lives despite the road blocks the Left throws at us.

Even the Hopeless Narcissists Are Waking Up

How horrible must things now be if someone as addicted to make believe as Bill Mahr says that things have gone too far?  Bill Mahr had a monologue on his show where he tried to explain to his audience of cretins that if America now has a different national anthem for black people, then the Left has revived segregation all on its own.  Apparently Mahr thinks he still lives in a world where the Left cares about fairness or even sanity.  His point is that if we let every race or ethnicity have its own bubble then we would no longer be “one nation indivisible.”

How cute!  After spending a century sledge hammering the country to bits, now they’re afraid that white people may realize that the other identities don’t consider themselves part of “America.”  Well Bill, it’s too late.  We know the score and most of us are well beyond caring whether they kneel to the “Star Spangled Banner” or stand in rapt attention for “Lift Every Voice and Sing.”  These people are not our countrymen anymore.  They’re just grifters looking for another payday.

What it does tell me is that Bill Mahr knows that the jig is up and the powers that be better start reeling in the crazy before the pot boils over.  Or maybe Bill is trying to hold onto the part of his audience that still believes that America can still fool most of the people most of the time.  Maybe he’s right.  Maybe there are still tens of millions of idiots who think all of us will just magically come together with Left and Right joining hands around the flag singing Kumbaya.

But even if there is a huge chunk of stupid people buying into this sad story, I think the portion that has awakened to reality is large enough to start making a meaningful difference.  When thirty to forty percent of the population no longer believes in the concept of a republic it’s a pretty good bet that that country is going to decline pretty fast.  I don’t think it will implode the way that the Soviet Union did in just a decade or two after its people gave up on it.  There’s too much money and resources in this place to force it into the ground that fast.  But it’s easy to see that this isn’t the same America as the 20th century version.  The Left got their way.  They’ve turned it into a land of factions.  And the people they are trying to disinherit will be the largest and angriest faction of all.  It may take another twenty years but what will be left will be a Yugoslavia.  And eventually that breaks apart.  Maybe that was their plan all along.  But when it does break up the parts will be different from the former whole.  There may be a place for each of the new identities.  Not that it will be a smooth transition.  There will be a lot of jostling.  But there is the possibility that mostly everyone will be happier than we are now.  My guess is the only ones who won’t be happier are the grifters who set this whole thing up.  Seeing all those people happy to be rid of them is sure to make them miserable.  But you can hardly fault me for smiling about that.  A question that I am still working out is whether I want to stick around for that whole messy civil war thing.  It seems like a bad idea.

But anyway, once the country has been busted up it will be appropriate to have multiple national anthems.  The only question is whether anyone will get stuck with “Lift Every Voice and Sing.”

What’s a Twentieth Century American to Do? – Part 2 – Are There Alternatives to the U.S.?

In the first part of this series of posts I identified two separate questions associated with whether The United States was still the freest place in the world to live.  The first question was to answer whether the U.S. still the freest country to live in.  The second question is contingent on the first answer being yes.  If it is the freest place then the second question is how do you live in this new America in a way that maximizes your actual freedom here.  Because without a plan it is unlikely that it will feel very free.

This post is meant to answer that first question.  I looked around at some of the other places in the world and asked whether they were more or less free than the U.S.  And I think I’ll have to say that there are other places that would feel freer than here.  I’ll try to explain how I came up with this answer.

One of the first thing I decided was that if the standard of living of the country in question was close to first world conditions, then I would not fault the “freedom” quotient on that account.  For instance, I would rate most countries in Europe as an acceptable economy to compare to the U.S.  whereas some place like Haiti or North Korea would be unacceptable.  Looked at this way, places like Argentina and Chile and even Costa Rica might be acceptable places to live because the infrastructure exists to enjoy a decent life.

The next question is whether a country enjoys freedom of speech.  And it is understood that this is relative to what currently exists in the United States.  Though we technically have complete freedom of speech in the United States that is far from a true statement when you take into account the effects of woke practices on employment and the “hate speech” laws that although technically unconstitutional are unchallenged in multiple jurisdictions throughout Blue America.  Looked at from that point of view there are plenty of places that have the same or more freedom of speech as the United States.  Certainly, there are many places in Europe where the woke thought police are even more rabid than in this country but places like the Czech Republic, Poland and Hungary, for instance, are not among them.  And these countries are not in the clutches of the LGBTQ mafia.  And they are all opposed to illegal immigration.  And finally, the Czech Republic even has gun rights that come close to what we have in the United States.

So, my cursory survey of other countries that might provide a freer environment than the U.S. seems to say that there may in fact be choices.  And it is understood that none of these places are as prosperous as the United States or possess all the advantages that this country possesses.  But what they do have is a less leftist outlook and a lack of woke public policy.  And since this is just a cursory examination, my next step is to look at these Eastern European countries to see whether the reality matches the appearance.

And if anyone out there has information on these three places and other candidate countries, please leave information in the comments.
